I live in Canada and I can confirm this a garbage place to live and most people here are extremely depressed, unhappy, and cannot get along with each other... The only thing that makes these countries "good" are their abundance of resource and wealth. If Muslims countries had the wealth that these countries have; they would be the best place to be in. Also, who made these list cuz from what I hear, Saudi, Qatar, UAE etc... are amazing places to live with extremely low crime rate, and extremely good living conditions, no taxes, etc... can't say the same for over here. Homelessness, Poverty, mental health crisis, crime. European countries are the ruling empire in this current era; they're wealthy and people mistake that for "good". They also keep their countries "good" by exploiting less powerful countries.

Im living in Canada and the cost of living is horrible. Wages are very low compared to rent . houses are so expensive. Depression is every where and weather is bad.

Islam is a religion. It is not an ethnicity or race. Islam should not have the luxury of being the only religion immune from critique just because some people want to equate it with racism.
i mean most national constitutions were either inspired by or directly adopted from religious beliefs because religion is the only time tested set of rules that can define morality clearly. separation of state and religion has only been a modern thing but religion still left massive footprints in most national constitutions and symbols, some hints at still some moral influence, some just outright let it be untouched as part of historical culture/tradition. e.g. nordic cross, usa pledge of allegiance, uk monarchy system, etc.
You need to watch the actual debate. The whole argument is taken out of context because of this short clip. It was a debate that non secular countries are not more advanced / better in terms of its economy and government vs secular countries like the USA. It doesn't mean that all secular countries are super developed. Mexico has better technology than places like iran and iraq but it has a bad government. The point would then be that Islam has nothing to do with whether a society progresses or not. If you chalk up the disparity to IQ, then Islam isn’t to blame for why muslim societies are behind. If you chalk up the disparity to difference in values, then you’re left with the difficult task of having to explain why not a single black and Hispanic country with secularism and democracy is experiencing as much progress as their white/Asian counterparts, and without coming off as a “racist” while you’re at it. If you watch the debate, he actually asked that question to indicate that other 'liberal' countries aren't advanced. So the claim that liberalism is what brings advancement is questionable. The list containing only western white countries except one is still suspicious. Who's opinions count in that survey? Even then asking are the rest inferior could have been simply answered by "Yes" or "No". He seems to have coward for some reason. If what he said isn't racist he surely would be able to justify it.

If they aren't useless then they have to be useless in their entirety. He can't claim the top 10 best societies in are considered secular, which is fine to say, but then stumble when someone else takes his same lists and comes to another equally valid observation.
Arons point was invalidated because you could justify the top ten as successful not because they're secular but because they aren't black or Hispanic dominated. I was pointing out Arons logical fallacy of thinking that just because they are secular countries, doesn't mean their secularism is the reason they are successful. You actually prove my point by pointing to a number of secular countries that are terrible places to live. Russia for example, and China. But Aron ignores those in order to make some inarticulate point that secular countries are better because they're secular. I'd actually argue that the ones he listed aren't successful because they are secular, but because they all have strong protections for freedom of religion. I can understand, Mexico is such a beautiful country and great people however ask the people what is good and bad about daily life. Mexico city has one of the highest murder rates in the world but Switzerland is safe however when we hear of horror stories like one Australian woman suffered at the airport shocked me deeply never mind rape cases where the women are always treated as the criminal. When we see this in their justice system how can any foreigner or gay, or non Muslim or even Shiite feel safe. They have a lot of issues to sort out but it's their people's choice but when you have dodgy rulers like in Saudi progress will be so difficult to achieve. Health care too is huge.
Determining if a country is “great” to live in can be very subjective. Some of those countries on his “list” rank higher than a lot of muslim countries when it comes to metrics such as; number of people on anti depressants, single motherhood rate, divorce rate, & suicide rate. Not to mention that 3 of the top 5 countries with the lowest crime rates in the world are muslim nations. It’s all down to perspective.

If the criteria includes life span, that eliminates black countries, and if the criteria includes median wealth, that excludes Hispanic countries.
