Except for all the nasty graffiti. And not just Athens. Why is there so much graffiti all over European cities? I live in Los Angeles and I rarely see graffiti, usually only in Skid Row, but the rest of the city is relatively clean. This is so annoying and disappointing. European cities are in every way nicer, but the graffiti ruins them. It's even on older classical buildings. Why is that allowed?

That's no different to any other city & town in the world. The whole of the UK is depressing most of the year, even in Spring & Summer given the unsettling grey wet weather in those two seasons. Just bring a coat, umbrella & solid shoes if you want to visit, oh and equally importantly plenty of money because post Brexit the UK is extremely expensive.

I am an Athenian. Athens is basically a shithole. One of the most polluted cities in the world. If you choose to come anyway, my suggestion is to visit the Acropolis and then flee to an island, the best island being Santorini.

First thing first, you are watching the center of Athens, the area near Acropolis, and I suggested YES visit the Acropolis, and maybe take a walk in the surrounding area. This takes only one two hours at most. Then you are DONE. The rest of Athens is just a concrete atrocity. If you like what you see be my guest, come and visit, I don't care.
All of Euroe is filledcwith graffiti. It is not like in the US where we consider it to be a sign of a poor or unsafe neighborhood. They have a different attitude towards it and it actually almost adds to the ambiance. Consider it part if the charecter of the city.😊
