Generally good, but you missed one element of Tonya Harding’s punishment: She was banned for life from ice skating. And not just as a competing athlete, but as a coach, an adviser or anything. Apparently, she was even banned from ice rinks entirely, even for pleasure. That’s a hell of a blow for a person who felt the only thing she was good for was ice skating.
Well....I would say look at everything that contributed to her doing what she did. Even though she committed something horrible, I wouldn't be so quick to judge.
haha.. lul.. me too.. I've been caught by mom though playing online games late at night when I have class following day. That is when our internet has been stripped off so I could learn 😅
I cheated. I was in a softball game between parents and kids at a birthday party. The kids had a huge advantage because the parents throwing the party had gotten a member of the UCLA softball team to pitch. The pitcher proceeded to fan every parent who came to bat. I was third up, after two easy strikeouts. When the woman pitched to me, I leaned in and got struck by the ball. "Take your base!" The pitcher protested that I had deliberately leaned in and that the ball had been in the strike zone. The ump winked at me and said "Take your base!" I managed to steal the final three bases, putting one point on the parent's scoreboard. It was the only point we made -- that pitcher was GOOD. I, like the other parents, wanted the kids to win, but certainly wasn't going to be humiliated by a shutout. My other at-bats were normal, and the woman pitching congratulated me afterward on taking one for the team. Which I had -- her pitch HURT.
4:37 I think that one is one of the worst cases of cheating I’ve seen. It’s one thing to cheat; it’s another thing to fake certificates, beating disabled teams who were trying their best, lying about having a mental disability, and having such a higher-up be behind it? It makes me so angry, and I don’t think I need to explain why.
Actually, it seems rather condescending to make a team of low-IQ individuals. Is that supposed to make them feel good about themselves while at the same time showing the world that they're way below average?
@@hawaiiansparticus3336 well apparently, it used to be a thing, and i wonder what kind of achievement could be felt under that disgusting circumstances. Maybe its just about the $ as usual
@@dhy5342 would you prefere they be put up against people with no disability instead? robbing them of any chanece of victory all together? with the special olympics they all get a fair chance to win and they get to be the center of focus and get all the attention, they get to show that they to can do this if given a fair chance. special olympics and paralympics is a good thing, and you wanting to take that away from them is disgusting.
@Cristopher James so if everyone knows it's rigged... how can anyone that bets in the Superbowl lose? If they win, they get cash... If they lose, they would claim it's rigged and therefore the bet would be invalid.
Cristopher James respectfully, nuts to that. A kiwi shot put thrower Valerie Adams won Olympic silver to Belarusian Nadia Ostapchuk, who took gold, in a highly suspicious turn (it’s a small sport, they know who should win before they get there). Nadia got to have her moment in the stadium with the Belarus anthem, she wasn’t confirmed cheating until too late (and she was sloppy, she knew she wouldn’t get away with it). That’s a moment Valerie was robbed of and will never get back. (This was London 2012)
@Cristopher James What kinda shit is that? I play to win at everything and have fun. It's not fun to play unless you're trying too win. I know I'm not the only person in the world that has fun because of competition. What's fun about not competing?
Worst part about cheaters is that they will always try to defend why it was okay for them to cheat, and try to drag you down if you don't agree. I've questioned my own talents and abilities before due to cheaters who put me down just to find out they were cheating. Karma will always come around and bite them in their scummy ass though.
There was a cheater in an MMOG (one of the _Call of Duty_ games, IIRC) who first pretended to mistake the hacks for a glitch, and then pretended to realize--Good heavens, these are hacks--and blamed it on a made-up "friend". Unfortunately for her, she'd already accidentally streamed herself using EngineOwner.
At this point, I believe it would be harder to find someone on the internet who hasn’t at least seen this vid on their homepage, than finding people who owns at least one apple right now..
@@Ibrahim_7982 lmao i cant have my own opinion? youre basically doing the same thing except you just have to be a butthurt. so jokes arent subjective? ok then :D.
I reverse cheated to get out of a wrestling meet. Anyone could challenge for the A team to go to the meet. My friend in the weight class wanted to go. So I threw the challenge in points, but kept it close so the coaches wouldn't suspect anything. Two problems though. He kept going around bragging. And the coaches ended up sending me anyway as a independent wrestler. I beat him in the tournament in under 30 seconds.
Playing honestly and losing will always be better than cheating and winning. And it's always more fun, because you never need to worry about covering your cheating! :D
I once accidentally cheated in a game, and when I realized it by the time I lost the game, I joked about it and said “I even cheated for the occasion”. My family still hasn’t let it go, and I don’t blame em.
I know like once I was playing like Going to cheat on a board game and once I cheated I swear it looked like a waterfall was on my face I was sweating so hard I don’t know what psychopaths they are but they are the top list
Man when I was 12 yrs old, I was caught lying to my teacher in front of the whole classroom. The shame and embarrassment literally humbled and changed me forever. My father stopped speaking for almost a couple of years. I will never forget that incident and to this day I feel guilty of what I did.
@@Safi-Zargar Reflected on my actions, suffered the consequences, lost trust among family and friends, especially my father, because he was the closest to me. He never scolded. mistreated, or punished me after that incident, I would have really been happy if he had done that. But the absence of his communication, and distance between us, scared me the most. I thought I lost him forever from my life. That situation humbled me, made me decide to win my father's trust at any cost. We became very close after that. I cherish every moment I spent with him.
I doubt the button shown was truly from her bike. He mentions she had a Bluetooth switch and was only caught due to wires running from the seat battery. Ray Charles coulda spotted that button in his current condition. Impressive that they were able to hide an electric motor on the sprocket. Took some serious ability to provide a motor and power source capable of pushing a bike for an extended period without being super obvious.
I almost got accused of cheating unintentionally at the 2007 national special olympic games. The reason? I did a time that was too fast for the organization's taste, but I kept my gold medal because the other guys in my race also beat their own time.
There's more to the Spanish basketball one. 1. The person who broke the story claimed that, as a reporter in his day job, he was doing an undercover expose on the cheating. However, he only came out and blew the lid on it after people had been coming out and saying they recognised the players on the team as non-intellectually disabled people. Basically, it's extremely likely he was just trying to avoid the fallout. 2. Russia then *wasn't* awarded the gold medal because they couldn't provide sufficient evidence that their players were eligible either. So to this day, the event is listed as having no gold medal awarded.
Having monitored my portfolio performance which has made a jaw dropping $370k from just the past two quarters alone, I have learned why experienced traders make enormous returns from the seemingly unknown market

I was caught cheating in Kendo once, though it's more "unethical practice" than flat out cheating, I didn't take illegal substances and I didn't alter any of my gear in any way. I'm a big guy, 6'2" and weighing in at 240 lb. at the time, and in competitive kendo when a fighter steps out of the fight ring they are hit with a -0.5 point penalty. Normally, a match is over when it lasts 3 minutes or when one fighter is 2.0 points ahead of another fighter, so I used that to my advantage to purposefully shove my opponent from the ring. Now, shoving and pushing are LEGAL in kendo, however the main point is striking designated areas on the opponent to score points, so after the seventh time I shoved an opponent out of the ring, one of the high-ranking sensei called me out and told me that, while what I'm doing ISN'T illegal per se, the sport we're engaging in is KENDO and not SUMO, so he'd like me to rely more on my sword skills and less on throwing my weight around. He didn't ban me from the match, nor did he gave me any sort of penalty, but I decided that it's better to realize when I've been had and not push my luck, so I dropped the tactic. I ended up getting second place in my bracket (ikkyu and shodan), and I offered to have a rematch with the guy I shoved out the ring four times, we had a 5-minute bout with me declared the winner as the final score was 7-4. People in my group still call me Mr. Sumo now and again but that is normally said as a joke.
@@SmilinMatt78 It is basically samurai style sword fighting with swords made from strips of bamboo fashioned together (it gives a rather satisfying springiness when you hit your opponent). It has a pretty strong honor thing going for it, so good on @arngeir for doing a rematch.
1 of The years Lance won if they were to disqualify everyone juicing it would of been the person who came 19th was the first clean athlete. Nearly all those long distance cyclists are juicing and its way healthier for them to juice as sterouds help you heal faster.
I am glad this video finally explained why they were throwing the 2012 batminton matches, other videos never elaborated on why they were throwing the game before. Thanks.
When I was at school I cheated in a cross country race . Started it waited in some bushes until the lead runner passed back by it and I rejoined the race and finished second. Which backfired because I was then asked to join the school cross country running team which I never joined . I only cheated because I was lazy and didn't want to run the full distance lol
I will always remember my opportune cheating moment. It was at the high school city championships, track and field, high jump. Only two of us left, the other my biggest rival. He misses the jump. All I have to do is make it and I win cities. That year they had a rule that in order to be a clean jump you could not touch the bar. I touched the bar but no one noticed. The crowd went wild for me. I had won the gold. But I knew I fouled. I went over to the ref and told him I fouled. We attempted the jump again and neither of us could make it and we tied. I regretted it back then but now it's one of my proudest moments.
Some one once told me something that fit this. "One can lose beautifully and one can win disgustingly. Which one is a person chooses tells a lot about that person."
Absolutely. No one can tell me that sticking a tiny battery and motor would give you a huge benefit over the entire race. Pure psychology could help you more in such cases.
Ahem! He is a She dude. The thing is that she was punisht double as hard as those who take actuel doping. On that note they effectivly killed here career, while others still have a chance to redeem themself.

The worst cheating goes on in CHILDREN'S sports, when parents break the rules and teach their kids that all that matters is winning! Dad (and it's usually "Dad"): "You're not good enough to get a trophy without cheating, and that trophy is the only thing that's important!"
I think this counts: Sammy Sosa was caught using a corked bat during one of his games. The notoriety of the scandal prompted the Mythbusters to determine whether or not a corked bat grants an advantage. They discovered that “corking” the bat actually has the opposite effect because the cork in the bat acts as a shock absorber.
My dad played major league i played but didn't have much help cause he was always gone but ive used a corked bat in practice and ill tell you right now i could literally take stitches out of a ball with a corked bat you can swing a lot faster and when you make contact with a ball going almost 100mph its a sound you will never forget !
I play pokémon, yugioh, and mtg (trading card games or tcgs). While these games are not technically sports, they are played competitively in tournaments all over the world. When playing these games in a tournament setting, you can be disqualified for breaking the tournament rules and some players have even been banned from these tournaments for life. One time I was playing in a yugioh tournament and my opponent had deliberately damaged the sleeves on my cards thus “marking” my cards while shuffling them in an attempt to get me disqualified. After he handed them back to me, I immediately called over a judge and told them what my opponent had done. Let’s just say the guy was immediately disqualified from the tournament told to go home. I just hope that guy never tried to cheat his way to victory again.
There are so many great things about Bloodgate. The capsule was bought from a joke shop Tom Williams hid it in his sick Despite coming off with so much blood pouring from his mouth and winking, for added measure he limped off As Andy Zaltzman (a Harlequin fan) said in The Bugle at the time, it would've been easier to go up to one of the forwards and insult them in order to bet real blood coming from his mouth
It was still pretty suspect that, only a couple of points down and without a specialist kicker, the only circumstance in the game that would enable them to bring a substituted player back on to bring their specialist kicker back on would happen almost immediately after the score changed to put them in that position. And Williams had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes, too. If he'd handed the capsule to a teammate who'd been on from the start or something it would have seemed less suspicious as well.
Man they failed to mention Billy Collins went into a spiral after that loss bcuz he couldn’t box anymore due to the eye injury. It was terrible enough that those guys cheated, they were effectively the reason he is no longer with us. The family never got any restitution from the commission either. Then the boxing commission made it so they couldnt be sued again for the same thing
2:45 Incidentally, the strategy of intentionally performing poorly to secure easier playoff berths in tournaments has a name. It's called "sandbagging".
I raced BMX and motocross and I hates sandbaggers. BMX the classes were by wins it was 10 wins to turn intermediate and 20 to turn expert which was top class unless you went pro. I was an intermediate and kids would stop racing when they were close to 20 wins so they could sandbag and win them at a National or Double pointer or the Worlds so guys like me a real intermediate had no chance at the big events. Motocross was even worse because you could pick your class so you had experts racing in the beginners class and lapping them.
all forms of this kind of practice is corrupt and doesn't belong in competitions. it doesn't matter if it has an official definition to me, this is shitty
I caught a goalie using glue to catch the ball with his finger tips. When I asked the ref how he was stopping the ball like that, he walked over and ask the goalie to clap his hands. The dude did and got his hands stuck. It was high school and we still lost the game by one, but it would likely be a worst defeat if the cheater stayed
In a little league baseball game, the games either ran 6 innings or 2hrs whatever came first. We were down 5-1 going into top of the 5th inning. With about 50min game time left as well. Well, we ended up scoring 3 runs making it 5-4, going into bottom of the 5th with 25min left of game time. We were able to get 3 outs with 2min left in game time. And apart of the rule I stated earlier, if you start the top of the 6th before clock runs out, you complete the full 6 innings, and start means all players on field and batter is ready. However, our opponent somehow had 2 of its players somehow lose their gloves. And wasted the 2 min left so ump called the game since the 6th inning didn’t start because players weren’t on the field. My coach tried to argue with the ump saying they are purposely “not finding” gloves to end the game so that we can’t get a chance to bat. The ump said “not my problem, rules and rules”. This game basically put us out of the possibility of a medel, which they give to 1st and 2nd. My coach went to the league office and filed complaint along with other parents of my teammates. They said while we cannot prove that they cheated, they changed the wording of the rule the start of the 6th inning is as soon as 5th inning is over, not when all players are on the field.
Indeed.. Says so much abt the cheater. Not only do they lack honesty but a lack of sense of justice, empathy for whoever they stole the title from, shame they would cause their families and friends.. And on and on..
The Spanish Basketball thing had a massive impact. All the events for people with impaired intellectual capacity got dropped from the Paralympics in 2004 meaning tens of thousands of potential participants have been denied the right to participate in one of world sports biggest events.
Thanks for causing the dreams of someone with high functioning Autism ( too high functioning for the special Olympics) from competing in the Paralympics. I wondered why someone on the spectrum wasn't included.
How could they live with themselves or feel good about it if they had to cheat to win??? It’s absolutely ridiculous! I would NEVER feel good about myself ever again!
Yep. There is a difference between cheating and taking advantage of loopholes. Card counting is another, which, at its core, is knowing statistics and having a good memory. Since when is using the knowledge in your brain, and having an excellent memory, considered cheating? Make it make sense. Lol.
I’m thinking the construction of the bike could have being better. If battery was in the seat post, rather than in the saddle, would have made better concealment. Also who paints the button red on a black grip if the button was meant to be hidden? In all honesty through, what type of battery could store sufficient power to give a relevant boost, whilst over coming the disadvantage of all that extra weight - battery itself, motor, gearing, etc. Tour de France athletes spend hundreds or thousands to cut every possible ounce...
@@reallifeengineer7214 I'm sure you're not intimating she would have used some Wal-Mart Duracell battery but there are a lot of relatively high capacitor (storage for non-engineers) hobbiest batteries which when used at just the right time can make all the difference in the world.
@@danielfronc4304 😂😂 Nice. No, I don't mean batteries folks buy from local stores. I understand one would go with Lithium-ion cells similar to those used in Tesla, much better power density. Back in the 1980's the Amatuer Athletics Association did a blitz on many drugs they deemed unacceptable in sports. This included several medications used to control asthma. Because of this several athletes were banned, myself included. It was unfare, but they refused to back down.
in high school i played football and my friend had a broken arm. he was allowed to play in games with a big cast that protected his arm. he used to slip little weights or something heavy in his cast before every game and use it like a club until a ref found it and he was ejected.

The initial defense was the bike wasn't used in the race, but was in her official area. On another note, some racers especially in cyclocross prefer to accelerate on some surfaces while seated. I'm not saying she did or didn't use the technology at some point, but each statement separately was acceptable. And she was used to set an example with a very harsh punishment compared to typical doping sinners, even repeat offenders.
When I was a little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old, I went on the Bozo the clown show. We had a race pushing balloons with our noses across the floor. the definition of fumble is to use your hands in a clumsy manor while handling something. So just cause it’s a football term doesn’t mean he meant it in that exact way. He meant it in the general definition
I’ll try to explain: whether or not someone catches the ball before it touches the ground determines whether someone is “out” or “safe”, whether or not they’re on base.
Fact: Once a runner cheated in a race by swapping over with their identical twin in a loo half way through the race, but were caught due to one wearing their watch on the wrong wrist. (Horrible Histories)

A sport synonymous with cheating is cricket. Over the years every major country playing it has been found out and there are many ways to cheat. A relatively recent example was Australia in South Africa where a bowler used sand paper on the ball. Three players including the captain got bans.
@@KororaPenguin No, I think roughing up the surface of the ball helps the bowler get a grip on the ball in order to put a deadly, near-unhittable spin on it.
Deflategate was nothing in comparison. The worst was against the Eagles in the 2005 superbowl. I stopped watching it bc it was painfully obvious. It was like the entire patriots defense was in every huddle. Brady had coaches in his earpiece during play telling him who was open. + much more. Brady and Belicheat should've both been banned from the NFL.
