I bought the 10x42 Cronus and they are really very nice optically (especially the colours) and functionality, however I can’t get a full view wearing my glasses which is a disappointment. On the whole though they are excellent and I’m glad I bought them.

I have heard good things of the Cronus Midas 12X50, and the 10X50s. I wonder of the 15X56s.

I have the Midas 12x50 UHD and compared it side-by-side to units costing up to and even over $1,000 and it came out on top. I paid around $360. So for the money it is a winner. I also own a much cheaper Neos 10x42 HD and that too is a fantastic binocular. I paid around $100 and it compares very favorably to the Vortex Diamondback 10x42 HD which costs in the $250 range. So far I am supper happy with the Athlon offerings. I am looking at their Ares or Cronus spotters next.

Argon has a larger molecule, so it should take longer to leak, if at all.

I read a comment where the Cronus has poor light performance? Have you experienced this?

The Cronus offers superb light transmission but keep in mind physics. Higher magnification will mean lower light transmission. An 8x will produce an image brighter than a 10x (all other factirs being equal). My problem with the Cronus is its weight. Happy viewing!

This Athlon Cronus sure looks like the Scoopx $218-$224 binoculars.

I bought these and they aren’t as bright and clear as my 8x23 Nikon travel lite bins at dusk. No way these are as good as you say. I keep comparing trying to think they are better. They aren’t. They’re going back

Is it made in China or Japan?

The way Athlon's headed it's Chinese just like their new top of the line Cronus spotting scope. Their Cronus line used to be made in Japan and wouldn't be surprised if their Cronus scopes turn into Chinese as well. Good news is at least for now Athlon has a hassle free NO BS Lifetime warranty including their electronics. Unlike Bushnells which only has a one year warranty on electronics such as rangefinders and illuminated reticles in their scopes under the guise of a lifetime warranty which isn't even a real lifetime warranty see BBB gave Bushnell an F rating and the quality of their newer stuff is way below average quality for the price paid. If you seek not made in China you need to buy top of the line BX5 Leupold or Steiner or Meopta or Tract Optics or Maven or Vortex Razor is Vortex hasn't already switched to China for their Razor binoculars yet. Then of course there's the upper tier European binoculars from Zeiss (also selling Chinese low end models) and Swarovski and Leica. And upper level Kowas (their budget entry level optics are Chinese). The $999 MSRP Leupold BX5 10x42 punches way above it's $600-$700 shop smart everyday price point. You'd need to spend a lot more on a $2000+ Swarovski in order to see any noticeable difference in optical clarity and resolution compared to the Leupold BX5.

Do they make a Cronus 10x42 with built in rangefinder? If they did I would buy it. I just don’t feel like I need to shell out $2500 for glass just to harvest animals.

Yes. Athlon makes a 10x50 Cronus with builtin rangefinder. Around $1400 to $1500.
