At least she died the most merciful way, sparing Athos from having to assist in her execution by allowing it right in front of him and DeWinter's brother didn't have to get his hands dirty offing her himself, and after forgiving him and giving him what he needed.
I also think she did not want his last image of her to be her head rolling to the ground or at his feet that would haunt him he is already haunted enough

Mia Cox I think her jumping was merciful he did not need to see her beheaded in this version the characters love one another you can tell and she knew she had to die no matter what happened and she did it to spare him participating in her beheading and having to witness imagine they had beheaded her and the head rolled at Athos's feet he carried a musket I hope he would not have hurt himself this movie makes them more human specially her and in the book in the other movies he is not that vulnerable as he is here we maybe he has moments in the 2011 show but this is the best Athos and the most human Lady Dewinter or Sabine her real name as he calls her by in this version
