It's a damn shame!

Someone should have filed a FOIA about the funds for Cop City!

So as the Princeton University study showed a few years ago, the public’s favorability (or unfavorability) towards a policy has no correlation to its likelihood of passing or not passing. Their study looked at over 1000 pieces of legislation over 20 years where public polling was available (and data such as the sex assigned at birth, age category and income/wealth categories were also available for the polling). The study showed that for the lower 90% of income earners, there was zero correlation between the polling for the legislation and its likelihood to pass or not. However, if you only look at those polling for those in the upper 10% income category, there was a clear correlation with the slope of the favorability lining up nicely. So for higher income people, the more favorable the polling, the more likely it passes. But for the lower 90%, the likelihood of passage was 30% whether it polled favorable or unfavorable for that group (no correlation). So it is consistent. Somewhere in Atlanta, there are wealthy people who want this, the rest of the people’s desires be damned. We have never really had a democracy in the US. Our so-called representative democracy (thank you James Madison) is based on his views that the average citizen cannot be trusted so “safeguards” and checks & balances need to be built in (like the Electoral College and the unrepresentative US Senate). In more recent years, the SCOTUS decisions regarding money’s equivalence to free-speech in politics has made our government even less representative. So our elected officials are representing those who provide the money to get them elected. And that’s pretty much that.

I would like to know who owns this cop city PROPERTY, who after 30 years will probably own the building, BECAUSE either the lease will increase and/or the building will be in need of repair. With all the vacant properties around, why should the city ever need to lease when they can buy?

The elite NYC high school, Stuyvescent High, only admitted 7 black students this year out of a total admit class of 768. Black students are over 35% of NYC high school students.

This is a good talk and has made me realize that this might be part of why a lot of black middle and high schools often score low because they are exposed to things that don't exactly represent them and their lifestyles. And it causes lack of interest in the material. Thinking about myself growing up in school I literally had no interest in the material at all and its was mostly a lot a crap that I don't use in life. But the classes I did love and always scored well in was computer technology class and science. Obviously, I had interest in those things so I learned the material well. But didn't have guidance enough to send me down that path.

The issue with white people is that too often when white people get together its to talk down on everyone else when they need to be talking about their problems instead of the problems they have with everyone else.
