THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. Ben has been getting wrecked by his own deck on so many occasions and by the table when his own deck wasn't doing it, but he was always smiling. Finally, he gets to murder while smiling.
That was a great game. It was fun seeing everyone interact with each other. Watching Ben win dealing the exact amount of damage he needed to and also pull off the teferi’s protection was epic. Can’t wait to watch the next game you all play.
Board wipes were by far the most valuable cards of the game this time. They lead to the ‘defeation’ of three excellent opponents, most notably another zombie deck from Shea and a Muldrotha deck that was nowhere near as brutal as they come. Of course if it was as brutal as they come, CGB would be the first to die in every subsequent commander game for the next couple months on account of the lasting trauma that would have ensued. A special thanks to Blake for not making his Thassa combo turn-3 competitive. I try to do the same thing myself when I use Thassa with my playgroup :) Ben yet again builds a tribal deck that fails to find its tribe off the top of the library, and I’m so happy I’ve watched the show long enough to share in that inside joke. :) felt like I was right there laughing with you. Great job!
Gishath was the Forst Commander Deck I ever Built myself. I remember hitting with Ghidhath 4 times (across multiple games) for 7 damage each time and hitong a total of 2 dinosaurs. So Watching Ben have similar luck, only to get the magical, OOPS, ALL DINOS on a hit for 3 was just absolutely magical. Good job Ben, well-deserved win! Thank you for bringing the main source of entertainment for this particular game!
Bro I still own a gishath deck. Its hit or miss but when it hits it hits like a truck😂 I've only ever hit a 7 for 7 one time and been playing it for 2 years
When I saw CGB play Angel of Suffering it changed who I wanted to win. I absolutely love that card. With Syr Konrad, Underrealm Lich and Gaeas Blessing is my favorite synergy atm in Magic
This is a great show. I love that it is a cast and the same players each week. The dynamic between you all shows tough plays and powerful combos but you still bring out the fun. Love it.
with the liberay its always better not to put the cards in ur hand but decide if u keep them or not before, otherwise its so easy to "missplay" or just plain cheat. i know that cgb doesnt do that but it shows a bad example for other players here ^^
Liking the new channel! I have a question/request for the group. I’d love to see how everyone organizes their cards for commander. There are many cards that can go in several decks. How do you keep track of where these cards are as you need them?!
I'm sure you know this or the comments have pointed out, but you wannakeep the cards drawn for the turn and sylvan library separate from your hand as though are the only ones you can choose from to put back or pay 4 life for.
For commanders like Thrax, I like to run any spells I can that ensure at least some if not all damage goes through. Creatures like Vela the Night-clad or Equipment like Embercleave are my favorite.
Might have been on purpose but the real win condition of a Dino tribal deck is marauding raptor and polyraptor. Then a different way to get every creature from your deck onto the battlefield is ashnods altar + Thornbite staff + Alta egg trigger.
My favorite Atla Palani moment: I was playing the precon, switched out 10-15 cards, and dream was to get Atla out, with Nesting Dragon, and make a few eggs and get something decent. I've managed to make 1 egg with Atla and 1 with Nesting Dragon before boardwipe happened, of those two eggs I've got Zacama and Avenger of Zendikar. Unfortunately it was early in the game, and I was at 4 lands, so couldn't really capitalize on either Avenger's Tokens or Zacama, but still, reaction from the table was priceless.
Ben just made all the Timmy’s proud. While the rest of the table is looking to combo off, Ben is out here proving that combat damage is still and always will be a factor. “Hey Ben - How does your deck win? I play big creatures and turn them sideways.” LFG!
Mirror Entity is a card I almost always throw in any white deck just for the wanton destruction it can cause like it was an actual freaking dinosaur 🦖 Good job Ben!
Late to the party but LFG Ben 😤🤘🏻 Atla is my favorite deck, so happy to see her do her thing. And I’m sorry about the Gishath whiffs. I had the same issue with him as my commander. I swear you could run 99 dinosaurs in a Gishath deck and STILL whiff. So he quickly turned into an Atla deck 😂
Atla Palani, Nest Tender is such a fun commander. I built an "egg tribal" deck around her using Changelings. It's supposed to be my silly deck, but every time I play it, it wants to egg into either Kozilek or Ulamog really early.
What a perfect spell and sacrifice sequence for the win, especially after having whiffed on dinos the whole game! It's great to finally see Ben come out on top! After some sorcery speed instants in previous episodes, and the pre-block activations of mirror entity in this one (as opposed to activating it in response to blocks before damage), i will admit that i felt like his primary role in the group was to be a boost to CGB's ego (if that's even possible lol). I have a feeling, however, that with a little better understanding of the subtle timing nuances of the game, that Ben is going to be the "sleeper agent" and start wrecking the table.
PS. I appreciate the new format/channel, and specifically, the showcasing and inclusion of everyone's personalities. It was fine before with CGB as the host, but having the other members rotate the intros, presentation of the channel, and sponsors is a nice changeup. It def gives the show more of a group orientation as opposed to it being "CGB!... and some other people i found at FNM" Also cool that the other members were included in the Patreon tiering. I think that giving the audience more of everyone's personality and character gives us more to relate to, and root for/against. Thank you all for the content and entertainment.
I've been tweaking my Rashmi deck the past 2 days, so seeing Blake play her was a treat for me. I love the card because its almost like a Sunbirds Invocation on a creature. Haven't seen the end but I'm rooting for ya Blake!!
I love your introduction sooo much. I miss that in every playgroup. It gives me a better idea what will kill me in the next hour. Sadly most player wont introduce their decks because they are afraid losing the match, only because the other players on the table knows the strategy.
I really loved that Ben, even though he managed to win well deserved, he's been able to do Ben things and ramp and show us all of his 80 lands in his deck.
Curious on the thought process at 44:19 for Shay to reanimate into the Liliana, instead of Liliana downtick everyone sacrifices 2 creatures into the reanimate.
I know it was a Atla Palani, not Gishath deck, but I do think the deck needed more Dino's and not nearly as much Ramp or Lands. 6 cost reduction creatures, 11 pieces of ramp, 2 mana doublers and 40 lands. That's 59 cards that essentially did nothing outside of providing mana in one form or another. Only 4 pieces of draw/card advantage was very low as well. Usual adding cards like Sunbird's Invocation, The Great Henge, Guardian Project, Sylvan Library, and Garruk's Uprising, removing most of the non-dino creatures and replacing them with dinos and going down to 38 lands would've made the deck run much smoother. He won, so congrats to Ben, but I wonder if that had more to do with how the game played out than the deck itself.
If I joined the top tier patreon and donate a little extra, could I choose all 4 commanders in the game to surprise my friends? Basically have y'all play their decks.
about the worst things yall could do, if you resurrect the angel with the command, you "take" the damage while the angel is on board from getting resurrected, so if the angel is dead and you res it the combo only costs 6 mana :) really cool game though, i love watching yall
So planeswalkers tend to die fast when they are unprotected. Who would have known ;) Also the timing of the Court play was pretty wonky as Ben had no defenders on board. I guess Atla would have been a much better play that turn
AWESOME VIDEO MUST WATCH IMMEDIATELY insane game enjoyed every second of it CGB your combo is really cool Shea your zombies are sweet & sweet play with that counter Blake very nice cards unfortunately it not easy to win twice in a row & your combo and walkers made you dangerous to fast & Ben that is insane even after all the fail hits you still manage to live long enough to summon some powerful dino on top of tapping into the power Blake needed with those extra turns with his Teferi but instead you got to use one of the best form a Teferi in Teferi Protection and like the All State commercial you are definitely in good hand that kind of protection is to good LOL gg stayed till the end even through commercial for more support and I can't wait to see what happen next and please never forget everyone you're cool 😎🤟🏾❤️
I want Atla Palani I have a combo that’s making me 20 eggs a turn and then I’m sacking 6 at combat so I would be getting so much value off that SWEET prehistoric human.
Blake was on 24 life, got hit for 13 by Shae... said he was going to 11 but proceeded to go to 13... wouldn't matter much except he ends up later on with 2 life.. so should've been K.O'd
This was an excellent game. At one point it seemed like any player could pop off and win. Congrat to Ben for pulling it out after some serious bad luck drawing for dinos!
I love archfiend, I had a green black deck that ran that and hydra brood master and hornet queen and it was so fun when it popped off 😂😂 Also always glad to see Ben win, especially with all those whiffs I was nervous 😂
