'03 Pistons chose upside and drafted Darko Milicic over 1st ballot HOFs Wade, Bosh and Anthony. Screw upside. Upside means that you have to convince yourself to take him...
I paid attention to the draft for the Falcons and got disappointed. I will be forgoing remembering the date and time of this draft for mental health reasons
Listen, if I’m the hawks GM I’m building around Jalen Johnson and Risacher as a Tatum and Brown combo. Keep Big O and Griffin and Buf. Trade Murray and Young. Try to get that first round pick back or one for next year because that draft is amazing.
Is there any consideration of Clingan knowing how to win? I see the UConn guys and other winning programs carrying over to NBA teams culture. We need that as well as skills. This pre-draft stuff makes me think Sarr may be a little selfish/entitled
The more I watched Clingan I liked him. He will be stronger in the post than Sarr. And he is a great passer that will be a great addition to this team.
The negativity about drafting Sarr is coming from his agent, he won't start in Atlanta thereby limiting his earning potential, screw his agent 😂😂😂😂 Atlanta will develop him slowly and maximize his talents this kid just wants to play in the NBA, once Atlanta drafts Sarr his agent will fall in line obediently 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that's the inside scoop i look for from a hawks report
I like Zachery. A guy that’s 6’10ish and plays both sides of the ball will always have value. Maybe his shooting is legit and if so he’s the best player to take at 1 if true
I get the concept of upside in the draft, but I think Clingan ceiling if he continues to develop as a passer, finisher around the basket, his push shot/floater, and potentially shooting is pretty high. I think it’s hard to see Clingan as a star, but it was hard to see Jokic (not comparing them) being a 3 time-MVP or Rudy as a 4 time DPOY.
When will we have the chance to take the best talent available again? All of this trade down is nonsense. We've recently had the problem of having a super deep roster but only 1 super talented player, and we had to trade them because they couldn't all be in rotation.
A couple questions to Brad. 1. What legitimate reasons are there to believe that Sarr has this high upside besides "he's tall and can run fast"? Kwame Brown was tall and could run fast. 2. Since most people will probably answer "defense", here is another one: What about his defense against bigger/stronger players? I assume we've all seen him getting bodied by bigger guys in the NBL, so do you truly believe he can bulk up/get stronger without it affecting his speed, stamina etc.? Can he bulk up at all given his frame?
I like the idea of picking Risacher to trade him to San Antonio for Clingan and a Hawks 1st rd pick. In that hypothetical, do you think SA would be more willing to return the 2025 or 2027 pick?
As a Spurs, I don't think the Spurs want to give back assets and I don't think the Hawks want anything short of highway robbery for the #1 to the spurs. With that said, I really don't think the value is there to go from 4 to 1. Castle looks like a super solid pick. I would think the Spurs would be more interested in using 8 to trade up or trade down. 8 and a future 1st would probably be on the table but the hawks wouldn't do that. I also don't see the Spurs adding any additional assets to that aside from 2nds.
really wish they would have just kept letting travis see out his vision smh literally went to the ecf with an extremely young core and they chose to blow it up completely
