Brad am I crazy for thinking that this roster as currently constructed (with the addition of length/defense and the potential of good spot up shooters) is possibly the best we’ve had since the 2021 run? People talked about addition by subtraction with the JC trade, but something tells me this DJM trade truly is addition by subtraction

This team isn't probably any worse, but it isn't much better. Until we move Hunter and Capela we're gonna be tripping over ourselves on minutes divided and not maximizing our up n' coming young players potential.😮‍💨

I have really high hopes for Bufkin. Hopefully his injuries will be behind him and he's gonna be poised for a "break out" season taking the team running responsibilities when Trae's off the floor! A solid 2nd "Defensive" unit would be so beneficial for us if we can use Bogey and JJ with Daniels, Bufkin, and Capela or Okongwu. It's a solid backup, but leaves our starting weak w/ Trae. Hunter is "part-time" and Clint probably "part-time" at this point. Starting Risacher would be a stretch at this point in time, maybe after he gets 25-40 games of experience. Wow we need to turn a couple of our spots into more than versatile use than Nance and Zeller if we're not moving Capela and Hunter. We're in a very weird spot.

hmm... is there a disclaimer or something that I missed stating that Hawks related content wasn't linkable? Not that it's depriving me of any gains, it was nothing I'd benefit from other than reference materials, just noticed my Hawks material is blanked out. That's interesting, ok.... fair enough, never imagined it so surprised me. lol

Are there any "Non-Woke" or anyone over the age of 18 that watch our Hawks anymore? It feels like if we try hard enough to fake reality, then we can change reality.... We're not headed for sunshine and rainbows this season the way we're constructed. We're running 6 centers... call Nance a PF... he's not, he's a small center that could cover PF at this point in his career. Mo Gueye could play PF, but his strength and best when on the court has been center. Hunter is the albatross around our necks paying him early based on "potential" and I hear people saying do the same w/ JJ. If we're gonna put JJ, where Bey was... with a SF build then expect more injuries banging for rebounds making him injury prone. Am I really the only one that sees this? We aren't gonna be "terrible" by any means this year, we do have some real pieces and can be descent, but if we'd stop overvaluing Hunter and Capela and would take what they're honestly worth like we did w/ DJ, then we could allow this teams healing to begin and start looking up again. Hold too long and close Trae's window along w/ even less value in both them.

So summer League is to develop players. Is there any benefit to the team who ultimately wins the summer league other than development and practice which is great ? I’m just curious.

If they don’t do anything else, it will be a combination of the 4 guys you mentioned and Garrison, maybe a sprinkling of Risacher

@@LockedOnHawks I figured have Garry bird on reserve for perimeter shooting.Seems like there is gonna be a lot substitutions going on this coming up season.

I'm looking at this roster asking myself why we're so "big" but "not big".... Mo Gueye I like alot and would like to see more of his young potential, but where can he even fit in now? He's more center than PF imo.... What are we doing? We're stuck with 6 centers truth be told... obviously there's no way we're keeping Bruno now unless we trade 3 centers and we've unrealistically valued Clint as more than a single 1st rnd pick. We're in a bind with big men who aren't big and we lack good rebounding.... does anyone else see this as a problem for a targeted improvement in our perimeter defense? Doesn't matter if you make the opponent miss if you can't get the rebounds. Sure Clint and Okongwu might get 10 a piece... JJ generously another 10, but that leaves another 15-25 and that's giving everyone their best rebounding on the same night. Gaps, huge rebounding gaps. 2nd chance points gonna be the death of us if we play another split time year w/ Clint and Okongwu. And if JJ doesn't play 75 games guess we can always rely on Hunter to pull us 15 rebounds a game with his dedication lol. Sorry if I'm pointing out the "elephant in the room". I want us to win and be better so bad, but as we're currently sitting it's making no sense. Pull off the last 2 Band-Aids Landry. You've not stopped the bleeding yet! Yes Hunter and Clint are seriously "quality" players and have their good points, but they're good points aren't gonna help this team going forward.

no, Mo is atleast 2" taller, but according to Landry, Risacher grew 2" in a day after we drafted him from the NBA combine tryouts.

Sounds like you're saying Risacher is a 'system player' that can't create which historicaly doesn't translate well to the NBA.

Nah that’s taking things too far. He isn’t the individual creator of a traditional No. 1 pick but he has plenty of intriguing skills that project to translate well.

As a rookie I see him more catch n' shoot or fast break scoring. Gonna take him time to develop his individual game to the NBA level. Hopefully he suprises us and is the next coming of Manu Ginobili but I'm not seeing more than a rotation player. Trae/Johnson/Bogey will be our main guys at this point unless we're willing to give Okongwu more opportunity than Capela unlike previously allowed.

alot more than it should be....😮‍💨 We aren't willing to give him away and nobody values him more than our FO. We're unfortunately delusional. Maybe a suprise team takes an injury and we can unload him to someone making a playoff push by trade deadline. Same w/ Capela. I think that's what our FO is thinking that we can luck into a situation where someone gets desperate for a replacement and pays alittle more than they're offering now.
