Wow, this is one of the most helpful videos I have watched. That almost empty box broke my heart. Thank you for all your tips. I packed shoeboxes for years before I learned you didn’t have to leave the packaging on to prove the item was new. So much more room for treasures. 😃

Thank you for this video! Such helpful tips and so fun to see the inner working of the processing center. I never thought about the ink rubbing off on items! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Such a simple fix but will make a huge difference!

Thank u for showing the empty water bottle. Another yr if u help at processing, consider taking filler items they provide you & fill up the empty water bottle. That empty water bottle took up a great deal of space, when one considers the emptiness inside the water bottle down inside that official OCC Shoebox. Would be instructional to viewers to see how much more could actually have fit into that box as u show how much more u could get into that water bottle. I've packed hundreds of boxes & feel its so important to have full boxes. Ive learned so much each yr as I pack the many boxes. Every inch counts as its the only shoebox from OCC they' ll ever get as there r not enough boxes for the need around the world each yr. Thank u for taking extra time n effort to share the processing center in Atlanta for us. Yes every box counts. One still pays $10/box shipping whether its full up or empty spaces.

I do fill my water bottles but didn't think about it at the processing center. I will remember that next time I go. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I have been packing OCC boxes for well over a decade. I admit that I tend to stuff my boxes with plenty of school supplies and especially atleast one WOW item.

Thank you for showing us the ATL PC! I’ve been packing for years and am dying to go to a PC. I’m in the Memphis area, though, and there just isn’t one remotely close. Each year I think about driving to the ATL one for a couple of days. My question is this…if you sign up for a shift, do you get to choose where you work? I guess I’m worried that we’ll go all that way and be assigned only to cartonizing or filler items, etc, and we would love a chance to process boxes. I want to do all the things, but I’m just wondering if they ask you where you want to work, or if they have some kind of rotation? Any details on the actual process of assigning volunteers would be so helpful! Thank you!

Hi Annette I just stumbled on to your channel. I live in TX and have been packing boxes for a long time. I packed 6 for years, one for all the catagories, but I'm now retired, so I pack a lot. I have never been to the processing center, but maybe next year. I'm 5 hours away from Dallas. I enjoyed your video and look forward to catching up and seeing new ones next year.

Thank you for watching:) I have only been shopping all year for shoeboxes for a couple of years. It has helped me be able to do so much more and I really enjoy it. I hope you can go to a processing center one day too!

I would think they wouldn't want all that loud music playing all the time. Give volunteers a chance to discuss the boxes, etc. while they serve. I couldn't work in such a loud environment.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate you showing a few of the boxes. Were most boxes full and if they weren’t what were usually lacking. Were there a good amount of boxes for 10-14 year olds?

Once I started checking the boxes, I didn't notice how many of each age group and gender too much. I think if you work on the last part when the box goes in the carton you would notice more. I only did that for a little while when we didn't have more helpers.
