The only thing i have to say is remove NCLB right now, i am sick and tired of them saying we have to close achievement gaps and or setting the deadline proficiently by 2014. They have already done that billions of times and still its getting bigger and bigger. Since a lot of people are un employed and lots of illegal immigrants are getting jobs without social security numbers. i think its time to kill this law. NCLB is already broken anyway.
That Superintendent lady fired teachers who had their students' test scores submitted with full integrity? So she could access additional federal funding? Sounds gangster to me.
Well....when you base people's salaries/livelihoods on how students who rather play video games instead of reading books do on tests, what do you expect?!?!?!
In order for our society to make it, we have to ask ourselves these type of questions to begin to understand or is issues we have as a whole. And if we begin to understand, we might be able to change it for the better.
So in order to keep up, educators stoop to what these teachers have done. Teachers in schools where achievement is an issue face absolute hell in their daily lives. Firstly, they more than likely have a rough class, where students work below grade level, often due to their home environment. They bring drama to school and make the learning environment difficult. Since they have trouble, administrators come up with all sorts of training that they think might help. Teachers are overloaded.
Not true. I see the exact same situations in the classroom as I see in the riding arena. You must be an administrator. A lot of times administrators can't see forest for the trees.
Sadly, when I teach my riding students, it's just like being in a classroom. Some progress and some don't. I have been working with this little girl for over two years and each time she rides, she looks like she's just learning to ride. She's caused me to get hurt a couple of times because she's freezing up at strange times, and I've been unfortunate enough to pay for her mistakes. I wish I could simply erase her mistakes. As a rider, she's acting like an abused horse. Man!!!
I don't walk around with blinders on and pretend like this stuff doesn't exist. Or pretend like like there is no issue over the matter. I ask the hard questions, hoping somebody could give me a legitimate answer.
It's actually really sad when it comes to the kids affected by this. This is proof of what I've been saying for the past 20 years, the increasing amount of our overall population is becoming more stupid every year.
Pay teachers more and give them the right tools they need to teach. Then maybe they will care more about teaching. Also parents need to step up and care about their children's education. I can see this only get worst with all the budget cuts and layoff in the education field. Class room sizes are increasing and budgets are being cut. So who do you think is going to really pay in the end. The kids the ones who will have a shitty education.
And it had nothing to do with age and maturity level. I'm currently going to college to be an aircraft mechanic, I have one black guy in my class, and he never hardly does anything. And when it comes time to turn in our work, he always wants to copy my answers. And he's 30 years old!
They are in constant training to make them better teachers. The data driven age that we live in doesn't help. Teachers are required to collect so much data, in addition to teaching and managing behavior issues, that it is ridiculous. And what is data? Data is like the stuff that got these folks in trouble. No one wants to work their buns off, realizing that their efforts will NEVER show, just to have stuff already taught fly out the window at test taking time. These folks were driven to do this.
As a horse trainer, I know that I can not reach every horse, however most love and respect me. I can take every strategy ever posted on the internet and still not fix every horse. I can take troubled horses and make them better for me, but they may never be able to be handled by just anybody. The same is true in education. Our standards are not attainable by all, but those why try to help in failing schools are doomed to a life of ridicule and extra work that just won't help all the kids. Sad.
With the new scandal that just broke with these celebrity kids and their parents cheating and bribing. How do you feel now? Racist much... not just brown people. Whites people have been doing scamming like this they just get away with it. Two words for ya. “Family Legacy” The easiest admissible way to get into an Ivy League. The Original Affirmative Action.
