I was 26 years old when this song debut.. 40 years later, and now 66 years old this song still touches my heart, and my soul, and yes, my eyes, still, well up whenever the song reaches my ears...they just don't make them,,, they just don't make them,, they just don't make them like they use to.
Ok, I’m just at the intro and getting ready to cry.. I miss this kind of music soooo much. Thank God for the technology to be able to still listen to it..❤❤❤
I dedicate this Beautiful Masterpiece to my Beloved mother 🕊️💙🕊️💙 We listen to this song together every week morning, noon and night 🥰 Rest in Peace Beautiful Precious Angel 😇 rest now 😘 you're truly missed 💙🕊️💙🕊️ I love you momma 🌹💐
A tear yes, the first time I every heard it, it was song by this band and the lead singer is no longer here. Wishing I could hear him sing it again.😥any day, anytime.
@@bigron26048 Ronald don't know if the man in that group is dead or not, I was talking about the man I heard in a band singing it. He song it, so sweet.
My favorite song by Atlantic Starr. They have so many great hits, but this one has always been special. "Goodbye, doesn't mean a thing with you and I. Our love has stood through all the tests of time." I can never listen to this song once; it has to be on repeat.
Just a telephone call away gets me every time. He's not talking about a cell phone he has in his pocket These R&B classics are the best. I still listen to them over and over.
I agree Rosa , thank God for these songs + RU-vid for making them so easily accessible. A few examples Just As Long As We Have Love, and almost anything Motown or Stax labels. Just absolutely 1 classic after another
Just hear the bpm. He's taking his time. He's making it real. He wants to see her when she's ready. People don't look at each other in the eye in person, they only know how to watch a screen or listen with headphones. Absolutely technology has sucked the mystery, romance and brain cells out of everyBODY as well as everyThing.
@Indigogoddess1111 Stevens Technology has given us too much access to each other Pre digital technolgy.. we had to be patient and take our time carefully with certain situations..
I'm so glad I grew up on songs like this. Not to brag or boast but they don't make em like me no more. They wrote the Book on the Side Piece with this one.
AM SOOOOOO INLOVE WITH THIS SONG AN WITH MY MAN RIGHT NOW IN 2022 ITS 1.22AM AND AM NOT SLEEPING BECAUSE OF THIS SONG A SWEAR 😘 I LOVE MY BBY GREGG YOUR MY HEARTBEAT INDEED 😍
My sister and her husband dance off of this at their wedding reception and it wasn't a dry eye in the building, and even still through all the test of time like this song says they're still going strong
This is a timeless piece right here. I never get tired of listening to this piece of art . It's 2022 and I am still listening to these beautiful voices.💯💯💯💯💯
Released 40 years ago & it still sounds as fresh as it did in 1980. This is "SOUL" music. Music from the soul reaching one's soul. In 40 years do you think anyone will remember any of that "Hippty-Hop" or any of that rythemic talking that passes for music today? This song has withstood the test of time. Amen.
There are plenty of people who still listen to golden era hiphop, though I believe you mean the modern genre of rap, in which case I agree. Those could never reach the level of the classics. Look, I enjoy 70's to 90's music the most but why are people on these videos always feeling superior because of it? Listen to what you want and let others listen to what they want without being such a judgemental prick. And yes, I'd agree that instrumentally, musically, and vocally these songs are of a much higher caliber. Why can't you just enjoy the music? Why do you have to feel superior to others and shit on them?
April 3, 2024...This song touches my soul. I'm still listening. This song got me through my divorce. Those were days. Wouldn't trade them for nothing in this world. This is the life we will pass through. Sang it Atlantic Starr! Sang it!
I'm 44 year's old n I still love it I started listening to music like this at ah verii young age n I absolutely still love it 🤔 it's music with meaning fa me 🙋🏿♀️🤞🏿🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
The Lewis Brothers were and still are a cold piece...from Let's Get Closer all the way down to My First Love, they knew exactly how to kill a ballad and make it stick in your memory for a lifetime. The thing about these songs is they're timeless, and no matter when you hear them they still sound fresh, making you want more.
Sometimes you couldn't say the words, could formulate what your heart felt: thank GOD for songs like this. I think everyone has someone in their life that this pertains to. WHEWWWWW...💜💜💜
February 2022 this song popped in my head. Classic, good music will never die. Atlantic Starr are legends. Thank you for sharing your God given gift. Many Blessings to All
Atlantic Starr are my uncles word to life they would come to Grandma's house for supper looking pretty boys just got off the tour bus i was so confused as a kid lol... I love y'all starrs
Who you telling! Went to bed every night listen to the slow jams back in the 80's. That was the only way I would be able to fall asleep. Started listen to the slow jams at the age of 8.
SWEET!! I have a bittersweet memory every time I hear this track. In 1981 I was a freshman in the Aristocrat of Bands (Tennessee State) and we went to Baton Rouge to play Southern. They played this in the 5th Quarter. The Baritone Horns (which I played) had the melody. It sounded so good it made my eyes water. I'll never forget that moment!! Thank you for loading this!!
This song is so beautiful I listen to it for the first time in years yesterday and I've listened to it over and over every since sounds just as good today as it did 40 years ago.
When I hear this song , time stands still, and the Heavens opens to a kid from College Park, Georgia, now I am a man now , knowing good and evil. Thanks God, letting me see your vision.
My late uncle and his band used to do covers of Atlantic Starr's songs including this one. I was really young but loved listening to their music. I think Sharon Bryant had one of the most beautiful voices that is definitely underrated.
...I first heard this track on an am station; am stations are not known for fidelity. But I instantly vibed to this! Atlantic Starr is underrated as far as their legacy goes, but not in my music library! Keep it up, Starr!
This is the 5th time I have played this song. In my 50's & hubby in 60's, this is us!!! Our love has stood the test of time 30+ years! Just good music makes you reminisce tough!!

Oh man, I miss my uncles and aunts so much. They would sip on beer and Gin and the card games with a house full of family and friends! I'm cooling out with this jam in 2024
I tell the current generation they don't know a dam thing about this. This is a cuddling and spooning all night Melody. Tell my lady she's my forever and ever until death do us part my love. 💖
yea... my mother say's she feels bad for my generation, because smooth, lyrically great music was her generation 70's 80"..and my generation really don't have that. I'm so glad my folks played music like this .. and there's "RU-vid" to help me navigate through music I've yet to hear.....=)
The first time I heard this song I was in my late teens, it resonated thru me like a low voltage lightning bolt! I discovered that the title of this song was my anthem for anyone I cared for romantically! Just "send for me"
Real MUSIC.. Miss these days listening to this with my FAMILY when I was a kid.. Dad be down stairs and doing his dance.. He I come running and joining him... Then comes mom and sister... GREAT DAYS AND MEMORIES ❤️❤️
