They showcased this back during the state of play for playstation and if you check the preorder section of games on the store its been there since like beginning of this yr if not a small part of last year aswell.
im curious if it is worth it to take on the watchertowers straight at the beginning because i had an side quest where it told me to kill a watchers fury but when i got to the spot where it needed to be nothing happened and it was just not there but when i took out the tower the watchers fury instantly spawned at the spot when i came there
Deck 13 always gets so so very close to perfect execution but always comes up just barely short. I actually appreciate the jank in there games so I'm not really criticizing.. I just find myself wondering what's holding them back just that little bit quite a lot. The Surge is one of my all time favorite games that I still play on a regular basis and I've enjoyed all of their games, just.. Wonder what it would take for them to finally tip it in for perfection.
It's probably the same thing as most of my favorite AA RPG studios like SPIDERS. Being way too ambitious for their own good and putting way too many elements into one game and still making something good but not mind-blowing. For me, that's fine and is why I love Evil West etc.
@@rgc5432fuck reviews lol.. people need to just decide for themselves if something clicks w them or not.. basing one’s choice on whether to get something or not on somebody else’s subjective taste/experience is just silly imo Unless a review is able to be completely non bias and focus purely on objective fact concerning the content in question of course
@@rgc5432 Every single average reviews mentions amazing combat and fun traversal but forgettable writing and story. I play Souls-likes and metroidvanias a lot. In every single one of them I either can't remember the story or didn't understand a word of it. Never mattered to me.
@loneshinobi2682 I agree I don't listen to reviewers or influencers as most likely they have a bias or have been paid. But watching gameplay it doesn't look great, and the open world looks empty, and the enemy variety is not good. With Starfield, Lies of P, Lords of the fallen, AC, Armoured Core, SM2, All coming in the the next 2 months. This needed to be a great game to compete.
@@rgc5432 Maybe we've watched a different video but to me the gameplay does look good. Cowboy and ACG like it, most reviews praise it. As for empty world, dunno, will have to see for myself. And all those other games are still many weeks away.
My dude is the voice of reason for these type of games... followed you through DS,DS2,DS3,BB, ER, WL.. list goes on.. and youve never led me astray with this type of game.. will be interested if you do a 100% walkthrough of this and also lords when it arrives! Good Job cowboy!
This looks good, besides the pop-in is rather brutal as seen in this review. One question, how is enemy variety and boss frequency? That is were a lot of AA games struggle, are you fighting constantly new stuff up till the end or are we getting the same enemies reskinned and stronger instead?
When people talk about the performance of the game, I really wish people would mention if they're using AI upscalers or not. Now I don't know what graphical settings the game has but that is something that should be mentioned especially when they talk about how beefy their system may be. It gives a good indiciator whether or not the game is actually optimized or they have to use stuff like DLSS and Frame Gen as a crutch to obtain decent performance.
Man, when people say dodging and parrying being souls-like it takes me back to the days of playing Ninja Gaiden. I know it’s not a souls like game, but I can’t help but think of that game coming out well before the souls games.
Thanks for the review, Cowboy. It looks SO similar to Forspoken? Does it play anything like it? For the record, Forspoken didn’t offend me as much as some.
I really enjoy Forspoken. I am a father and that story - even the dementia - really resonated with me. The gameplay was fantastic as well. I mean, sire shoot rocks if that's all you want to do, vut you CAN do so much more. And those nightmare colossus things are fucking insane to take on. No reviews ever mentioned them tho.
8 out of 10 is quite surprising. Personally with what we are getting this year, I think this isn't even a buy on sale,at least not for me. But if people like it, I'll be happy, wish nothing but the best to Deck13, really liked all their previous games
I'd buy it on sale in the next 12 months. As someone with little time and limited finances I feel your comment. It's hard to squeeze all of these games in when you're not a youtuber/streamer. The combat does look good though I will agree with Cowboy there. Might be worth it once it's cheaper.
As someone that lives in the most boring and bland semi desert biome. It's exciting to see a game make an actual desert look cool. I hate Southern California sometimes... This isn't a pun, but hiking around here can be very dry and uneventful. With only rocks and bugs. Which now sounds like a metaphor for Deep Rock Galactic...
I’ve been playing it since release and I’m enjoying it. I’ve been gaming since I was a kid in the early 2000s (the PS2-Xbox360 era was king imo). I don’t care much for graphics and pop in since I grew up with that. I know to have fun with the bare minimum. Gameplay and/or the story comes before graphics in all gaming for me. I won’t say the story is great, but I’ve enjoyed worse. The combat while floaty and lacks impact is hella fun. The only glaring issue that MUST BE FIXED, is the lock on camera. I was trying to fight a boss and the adds last night, but whenever I locked on I would be looking straight at the ceiling. I had to fight without using the lock on system and I’m hesitant to try using it again. In a game that requires aggressively fighting enemies in fast paced combat, I’d rather not have to fight the camera too. I’d also like a few more armor sets to be added, but that’s minor. This isn’t a Triple A game. This is a Double A game. I’ve seen people try to compare it to AAA games and I don’t think that’s fair. Saying this game needed to be "great" to "compete" with the AAA releases coming. TBH: That irked me a bit. Deck 13 had a job (make a fun game) and I think they did it well (apart from that bloody camera). They didn’t need to (and probably didn’t want to) throw in all the "flare and fireworks" AAA devs always do and some AA devs go crazy trying to replicate. Don’t go to a 4 star hotel expecting 5 star service. You’re not gonna be happy during your stay. Temper your expectations. I learned that the hard way.
I have to give them a for effort. Because at least they give you an open world and freedom not some semi open world knock off game. But I'm still not paying 60 dollars, so I'll wait until it goes on sale. Looks good, and thank you I actually trust your reviews
Deck 13 are really putting in work to become one of Europe's best AA studios. Game looks absolutely great. Taking my time with Remnant 2, and Starfield will also come out shortly, but this looks like a must-have as soon as there's some free time.
@@hattoraxu8957 please note that I wrote "one of". Not "the". BG3 is amazing. But you can't deny, that some of the most amazing Souls likes come from European studios.
As far back as the 90's, games were still at least $50 USD (if not $60) and an experience meeting or exceeding 20 hours was incredibly rare. Even once we got into the Playstation 1, N64, Dreamcast and PS2 eras, 20 hour games were not all that common. Unless the game is either really terrible or is a small 2D indie title (which might also be shorter), a 20 hour campaign for $50 USD (base game) seems very reasonable. I haven't played this game and likely never will, I'm just giving my perspective on game cost and the amount of content they provide.
@@thewal1ofsleep Your statement is wholly inaccurate regarding game length on the older PS1,PS2 titles. If you have played any of the later Final Fantasy titles you know full well those games last well beyond 20hrs, and there has been MANY of those, hell even RPGs that weren't Final Fantasy titles like Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, the Xenogears games, Dark Cloud 1 and 2, the Lunar series, the Star Ocean series...I could keep going but you get the point. There were PLENTY of games that lasted longer to get more bang for your buck
$70 for 20 hours of gameplay that's clearly highly replayable is too steep? I see now who are the Bozos who bought all those awful Assassins Creed games Longevity isn't only about how long it takes to beat the game. Replayability also has to be taken into account Games like Vanquish or Bayonetta on PS4 can be beaten in 6-8 hrs yet they have more Longevity than The Witcher 3 to me because their combat is incredibly nuanced, fun and satisfying whereas The Witcher 3's is terrible. I still play Vanquish and Bayonetta to this day whereas The Witcher 3 was a one and done affair. I know those games belong to different genres but it changes nothing to my overall point. This looks like a game I'm gonna sink hundreds of hours into.
You should have played games in 80s. Almost same price as know and many games beaten in a hour. A game over 5 hours in that time was rare. Now gamers cry for games around 20 hours. I gladly pay 50-70 dollar for 10 great 5-15 hour games then 40 dollar for a average game that is 30-40 hours or more.
I haven't watched the whole video yet but since this is from the team that did the original Lords of the Fallen game and the Surge games did they keep in or include the beat bosses with an alternative way to get something special? In those previous games, as u know, you could get boss weapons but since it seems we're limited to just 3 weapons I wasn't sure
@@FightinCowboy Thank you for taking time out to answer my question FC..truly appreciated..and aww man that sucks..at least u get something though I guess
Maybe we can disable the gauntlet voice later :D I feel you on this. Though I was ignoring Mimir in GOW after some time and he seems to be more fun with his "jokes" than the gauntlet. I will pick it up tomorrow from the post office and am looking forward to it 😊
what dou you think about the game rythm, does it get boring with time? Are fights enough of a challenge and can you get from a fight to another fast enough? It looks very good, i like momentum based games. But it's weird how it didn't get good reviews by other content creators.
Graphically its pretty meh and in some places down right ugly, considering the rig you are playing on that dissapointing, combat does look cool and interesting, but got a feeling this will be another forspoken.. forgotten in a matter of weeks
Seeing a lot of reviews and most are mixed like this. Idk if I’m gonna get it yet. U like a lot of similar games I’m into but I also have too many games on back log
Thanks cowboys for your work as usual, but I'll have to pass on this one,pre-ordered The lords of the fallen am waiting for that ,this one is a hard pass for me .
Oh awesome! Was hoping this game would catch your eye. Ever since "The Surge 2" I was very impressed with this studio so was very happy to see them make a new game. And OH! PROTOTYPE! I Can definitely see it as you play... just good times... and hey... at least we don't have to hear Frey's "New Yorker Cussing," amirite? Looking forward to let's play of this... hate to say it but German just REALLY kept me busy T_T
rare to see a western dev do an action game with actually decent combat this one was sorely needed now that ubisoft cancelled the sequel to the one decent game they cooked in the past decade the major complaints ive heard is that there is little story and characters and that the gameplay is the best part which only means one thing, this game is a banger
It's hard to tell based on a RU-vid video, but this game definitely does not look like a PS3 game. At least PS4 quality, particularly when it comes to ground clutter and foliage. It's definitely nothing ground breaking, but it definitely does not look like a 15+ year old game.
Does anyone else feel like this is seriosuly channeling Brandon Sanderson's the stormlight archives? I dont mean literally but it seems to have many things in common. I preordered yesterday because it really looks fun to me!
