What a season!!🥺😊 When Atletico was tight in defence and more attacking. Won La Liga in Camp Nou in the last Matchday. While Real was resting players in the last two weeks before the final (they had no chance to win La Liga). Diego Costa who left the Barca game in the first minutes, demanded to start the final, only to leave it injured ten minutes into the final. Atletico went to extra time, having wasted a change, and with exhausted players both physically and mentally after Ramos' 93th min equalizer.
True if they have substitute left ...there could have been different story .....as Peter dury commented 4 : 1 that look like a routte but that doesn't tell the whole story
Undoubtedly Atleti 2013-16 was one of the defining teams of the decade. Gabi was the glue that made it all work, the club captain! Yet he's consistently so under appreciated. One of the greats of his generation imo
@@satriaindrasyauqi28712016 atletico defeated prime bayern and barca and played as good as them And they were better than real in the final Griezmann torres pair was insane
Arda in his prime was really an indispensable player of Atletico. So is Diego Costa. Imo if they have played in the final, Atletico would most likely have won against Madrid.
Reading this months after the European disaster, trying to remind myself of the good old times. But let's keep our heads held high, I think that as the European compaign continued to get worse and worse, at some point the players maybe started seeing it as a burden, and our performance both in La Liga and in Europe was horrific before the World Cup break. But I feel like this early European exit helped them and they felt relieved. Also, the WC break was the best thing that could have happened. Our players had a really good World Cup, with 3 of them becoming world champions ( Molina, De Paul and Correa) and one being a finalist ( Griezmann, who had already won the WC). And from what I see after the break, I can't complain from even one thing. Too bad the break didn't come a little bit earlier, maybe then we would be able to save the European compaign and at least transfer to the Europa League, but this Atletico reminds me of Atletico from the beginning of the Simeone era. And if we continue playing like this, I'm sure this year's European disaster won't repeat. I just hope that we are not going to draw Bayern and City in the groups, for example. That is, of course, if we finish 3rd, which seems very likely to happen. The team from 4th pot shouldn't be a problem ( although I though we'd win this sason's group easily, so I have to have it in mind). But let's first qualify for the UCL first, bacause we still have a lot of work to do, and then we'll think about it. My first memories with Atletico was the semifinal second leg and the final of this season. That's when I started following them closer. I was 8 at that time and I supported Sevilla, my favourite player was Gameiro. Than, after the 2016 UCL final, seeing the passion of Simeone and the public and because of Gameiro's transfer to Atletico, I finally chose Atletico. And after almost a decade wathing this team and after 6 or 7 years of being an Atletico fan, I have understood two things for sure:1. I will remain a ,, colchonero" forever. This club has a really, really essencial role in my life, it's a part of me and I'm part of it. No doubt Atletico has the most loyal fans in Spain and one of the most loyal in the entire world. 2. I's always been Atletico's destiny to sruggle, and that's why every trophy is so, so important to us who love the club. We're used to struggling, but we have a saying here in Bulgaria, I don't know how exactly to paraphase it and I don't know if you have such a saying, but we say basically that where there was a success, it will sooner or later return, even if there are some difficult times right now. And I'm 100% sure we'll be able to win the Champions League one day. We deserved to win it at least once from our 3 finals, if not more, but we couldn't. Sooner or later it will happen, I'm sure, and then we'll have all right to celebrate.❤🤍❤️🤍❤️🤍
@@danieldodov3727 as for me I started following the club after we beat real madrid 1-0 in la liga's 2016 campaign which we ended up at 3rd just bc we lost to rock bottom levante which was really heartbreaking and then follows that the ucl final loss which made me an atleti fan for some reason. To this day I still remember those games against bayern and barca as if they were yesterday I could never get over it and I will forever be an atleti fans. We colchoneros are very loyal fans and will always support our club in the lows before the highs. from Tunisia
@@divhead3521 I still remember all our knockout matches from that season, from the penalty drama vs PSV in the round of 16, then the quarterfinal with Barca, when Torres opened in the first leg in Barcelona, then recieved two unnesessary yellow cards in about a minute or two, and Barca won the first leg 2:1. Then, even without El Nino we won the second leg 2:0 thanks to two Griezmann goals. Then comes the semifinal with Bayern. I still wonder if Griezmann was offside when he scored in Munich. If there was VAR in these days, we maybe wouldn't have made it to the final. On the other hand, Ramos was certainly offside when he opened in the final, even the referee admitted it. He tried to compensate us with the 50:50 penalty in the beginning of the second half, but Griezmann hit the post. Then Carrasco still managed to make it 1:1 and the game went to extra time and after that to penalties. We lost 5:3 there and Juanfran missed the 4th penalty. The Ronaldo scored their last and... I think that the memory of both of the finals still hurt very much and they will probably hurt forever, especially until we won the UCL, which I'm sure will happen sooner or later. But I think although in the 2014 final we were closer, the 2016 final hurt me even more. Because unlike 2014 final, when we just started being overdefensive after Godin scored ( don't get me wrong - it's not a critisism to Simeone - whatever happens, these 11 years and a half ( he became a manager in December 2011) marked the most succesful era in our club's history. 2 × La Liga, 2 × Europa League, 2 × Copa Del Ray, 2 × European Super Cup, 4:1 against Chelsea in 2012 and one of my most precious memories, the 4:2 win over Real in Tallin in 2018, and 2 UCL finals, both of which we deserved to win, especially the 2016 final. Considering he had to compete with some of the best Barca and Real squads ever, when La Liga was the best league in the world, Barca had MSN, Real had BBC, we didn't have the money of neither Barca or Real, I think what Simeone did was really exeptional, to say at least, and I will never allow myself to say a bad word about Simeone, whatever happens. Whatever happenes, let's not forget what he did in the past 10 seasons just because of one not so successful season. Including his 5 years as a player here, it's crazy to think I'm still 16 and he dedicated 16 years, even more of his life to our beloved Atletico.), in the 2016 final were were the better team in all 120 minutes and an offside goal, combined wit a missed penalty and a few other chances, let to an absolutely undeserved loss. But even this way, the fact that we reached 2 UCL finals in 3 years is just oustanding and makes me incredibly proud of this team. I won't forget how after we were knocked - out of the Champions League by City thewhole stadium started chanting ,, We're proud of our team". I watched the game from home and when I saw the video on the internet, it almost made me cry. Loyalty!!! I'm sure one day the destiny will repay us and we'll win the UCL. Sometimes you have to reach your lowest before starting to climb to the top again.
seeing Napoli this season how they used to struggle to compete every season and their huge transformation. Idk when but I'm sure one day the good old atleti everyone feared will be back(hopefully I'm not dead by then)
@@TwoFootball1998 Atletico 2014 played much better, Atletico 2016 qualified on penalties against PSV and only qualified against Bayern Munich because of the away goal rule
we all agree that wanda is better than calderon in termes of modernity and capacity .. but calderon was a special stadium with a special ucl nights like barcelona and bayern 2016 .. real madrid 2017 .. i really miss this kind of atmosphere that was in vicente calderon
