Here is the full unedited video that comes with the board game Atmosfear also known as Nightmare. Warning, there are a LOT of static timers between the narrator's parts.
This was the shit when I was a kid, it just seemed to scare you man, it really was brilliant at the time, I can remember he "called upon me" to do whatever it was, and I thought I'd be cool and ignore him, and when he aggressively repeated himself I shit myself 😂
The only part that really gave me the willies was that ominous prompt to "TURN THE VOLUME UP AND THE LIGHTS DOWN" amid the creepy, disembodied sound of a child giggling. The GATEUHKEEPAHRE!! was so ridiculous and hammy that we couldn't stop cracking up at him the scarier he tried to be. Then we find out that childish giggle belonged to _him,_ which just made it even funnier. "I release you... from the Blag'ole."
My friend had this and we played it once, and then every time I visited her she had it playing in the background. Not playing the game, just the video. While she did other stuff. All the time. I don't... I don't know...
Thank you for the upload I was looking for the original version on vhs, I loved this game so much when I was younger it genuinely was scary! The music building tension, the change of character over the time, even the full moon-and candle for Elizabeth, the effects were good also for its time, it's a shame the remaining sets never got released, if there was something made today I think it would be great.
Shakerlime You're welcome! I never noticed the slowly increasing makeup on the guy before and it is very creepy and impressive for just a boardgame VHS!
The way how you interacted with the game when you were a child was frightening. I couldn’t sleep, in case the gatekeeper flew through the window to take me away from my home :( My brothers were laughing at me :(
lmao my sister had this game and we played the very first time with my parents, my dad was the old one and I was the weakest "young one".. this game was really something special the first time you played it.
I really think this was underrated for what it was I had so much fun with this as a kid and enjoyed playing it with others and funny seeing them scarred shit!! Lol
Nikz World well bloody said. I loved this game so did my big bro. playing it on the odd Friday night with munchies and sometimes friends just having a laugh.
It’s crazy how a franchise that sold out dance parties and got partnerships with the likes of Pepsi in the 90’s went to be a obscure thing in the past, talk to any one in a fandom on the internet, especially outside the UK, they may not know what the franchise is. It deserves to be remembered by multiple generations imo, it’s a great franchise.
This is epic! I just found my old board games and I thought 'I'll just check if anyone has put them on you tube' and here it is. Might be playing this soon.
I remember playing this one night with 3 work colleagues when it first came out. It certainly left an impression, as I remember it like yesterday! *I recognised 'The Gatekeeper' straight away. Maybe I've had nightmares featuring him since, I don't know, but he's certainly the right man for the job! lol. Good stuff, good fun!!
Awesome! Just found a copy of this in a second hand store for £6 complete but wondered if anyone had put the VHS on RU-vid. Tempted to remaster the audio on this. Get rid of the hiss and make it loads louder.
These atmosphere games were awsome when I was a kid. I used to find that if you let it in, if you did what he said and played it like he was actually talking to you, you do get a little jitter here and there. You really get into it.
When I was 5 years old and my cousin came over, my older sister used to play this video and they'd watch it in my room. Didn't play the game, just competed with each other to see who would scream the loudest.
It's interesting how the transformation of the host is more subtle than in the other videos. While the Baron, Anne and Elizabeth had very noticeable changes, this one makes use of lighting changes and subtle makeup to make the Gatekeeper look progressively older, until he practically looks like a walking corpse.
that first line ''so you want to play the game, my game by my rules'' has been stuck in my head for decades, and i knew it was from a VHS boardgame the teacher bought in for us to play at school, but i never knew what it was called. anytime anyone mentions playing games in a youtube video that line still pops in my head.
Oh my god!!! I remember this! Thanks for uploading-so funny to re-watch after all this time. Absolutely terrified me and my brother!!! I was never allowed to play it as he was so scared, so I just used to watch the video to see what happened! Good old days!! 😂😂😂
Played this with a female best friend of mine 1 night when I stayed the night with her (yes I'm a guy and yes allot of ppl thought it was strange I stayed the night with a female friend at age 11 but we were truly "best friends" and our parents both knew this). Anyways, it was her game and I'm embarrassed to say that this game literally stayed in my head and fucked with me all the way up to my early teens lol. I'm also positive she created an elaborate backstory to the game about it causing deaths to other kids or something lol. At the time which was late 90's, this was some cutting edge shit as far as board games went.
I remember getting this game as a kid and the Star Trek: The Next Generation VCR board game where the Klingon Gowron hijacks the Enterprise.. (I think it was made by the same company) I still have them in storage in the original boxes at my cottage lol
The Star Trek VHS game was made by Decipher, who had the licence to make games with that setting. And the klingon who took the Enterprise was Kavok, who had basically gone rogue.
There was one key that said "you are released from the black hole". So that meant all this banished to the black hole stuff the gate keeper was on about didn't apply anymore.
I owned this game back in the early 90s. I put it on one day to show my 4 year old nephew and I really shouldn't have done. The gate keepr scared him beyond belief and he cried so much. But as I remember there was actually no age restriction on it. But anyway for the time it was so innovative and it worked by achieving to scare poeple ( and not just my little nephew at the time. He's in his late 30s now btw and is perfectly fine). But all in all a good game. 👍 .
Oh good good I remember this when it came out! (It was well expensive back then too!) my cousin had it it scared the shit out of me! I brought it for my daughter for Xmas a few years ago the original one it was even more expensive that time round I had to also get the vhs transferred to dvd (no app available 3 years ago)! Played it with hubby.daughter and friends.Brought back memories!! Funniest was finding out my husbands greatest fear 😆.So glad I forked out the money for the original game though the new gate keeper guy just not the same!!!didn’t think to look on you tube 3 years ago ……🤭 but I’ve got the original vhs in the box so will still keep that put in box as the original
Chills watching this! Have a question, who can tell me how many times the Gatekeeper blinks during the entire video? Dunno the actor but what a job he did!
Nostalgia I was telling yes my gatekeeper then, remembered the nightmare cards. I'm still afraid of not dreaming. My mother was young so we played this at about 8 years old
