Atomic and Ionic Radius| Chapter 2 | Atomic Structure | NBF Chemistry Class 11 | Lecture 4
This lecture is about ionic radius and trends of ionic radius in the periodic table.
Q: What is ionic radius?
.
Ans: The distance between the nucleus and outermost valence shell of an ion is called ionic radius.
For example, the atomic radius of sodium is 186 pm and the ionic radius of sodium is 95 pm.
You will also learn the following conceptual questions:
Q: What is atomic radii?
Q: Why the size of cations is smaller than its parent atom?
Q: Why the size of anion is greater than its parent atom?
To learn more about atomic radii, watch this lecture till the end.
Assalam o Alikum dear students, Welcome to Smart Studies Academy.
Here, we're going to unveil interesting way to solving real world problems regarding Chemistry and accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We deal with the basic concepts of chemistry based on new course National Book Foundation.
Our lectures are designed to be involving, informative, and easy to learn, with every explanations and real-world questions to help you understand even the difficult concepts. In this lecture we will discuss the brief history of Atomic Models.
Stay tuned with smart studies academy!
John Dalton's Atomic Model: Discover how Dalton’s ideas laid the foundation for modern chemistry by proposing that atoms are indivisible particles that combine to form compounds.
Rutherford's Atomic Model: Learn about Rutherford’s groundbreaking experiment that led to the discovery of the atomic nucleus and the planetary model of the atom.
Bohr's Atomic Model: Dive into Bohr’s revolutionary model that introduced quantized energy levels and explained the stability of electron orbits around the nucleus.
Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle: Understand how Heisenberg’s principle challenged previous notions by highlighting the limits of measuring a particle's position and momentum simultaneously.
Discharge Tube Experiment: Explore how this key experiment contributed to our understanding of atomic structure by investigating the behavior of electric currents through gases.
