Thanks for the comment @will clayton. The Backland is designed and built as Backcountry ski, to be used with modern, light touring bindings. The Kore 99 is a light weight model versus other similar skis in its particular category of Freeride models, but it is still significantly heavier than the Backland 95 which 650g lighter per ski. If heading uphill is important then that weight saving will matter. In terms of how they ski, the Backland is the very definition of versatile. It’s stiff enough to grip on firm snow and it’s shape and rocker profile work well in a variety of conditions; it’s nimble and responsive but it’s certainly no lightweight noodle. The Kore 99 feels more stable and powerful, it’s very smooth and can be skied more aggressively, but whilst it is actually quite a light, responsive feeling ski, it isn’t as quick or nimble as the Backland. Basically, it comes down to a simple decision. If you want to tour a bit further and the exploring is as much a part of the day as the skiing, or are prepared to work a bit harder to find your skiing, then it has to be the Backland 95 over the Kore 99. If it’s all about the skiing and the touring bit will never be particularly far then the Kore 99 makes sense. -Steve
Hey Will, the Kore 93 is a slightly more responsive ski but the comments above remain. Feel free to take a look at our Head Kore 93 overview here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J2j4xrAEC-k.html -Matt
