As technical art director, I've been waiting for this review to come out. Sorry for all rough moments, and thank you for a review. ps. thank you guys : ) we did our best here
Кто додумался залить тухлый билд в предзагрузку геймпасса? После запуска этого билда я уж подумал что реально будет позор на релизе. И почему на релизе нет лучей?
@Andy HD Gaming its a shitty game made by WB who would rather put propaganda on the walls of every mid sized city in the world about how great their game is instead of improving it
@@GREATVOVA Turned off every feature and game still looks better than most recent titles? Why others don't do the same? This way recent stutter-games look even more unforgivable.
@@GREATVOVA I've played the whole game and seen the whole DF the video. Nothing in the game is poor. Some aspects are just good but others are incredible and unmatched. The game is very nice and unique.
I thought this would be something like C2077 but even worse seeing as it was stuck in dev hell for so long. Glad to see it actually met a lot of the expectations.
Cyberpunk was made by inexperienced amateurs. Thats why its so trash. Atomic Heart is made by experienced talented developers. So of course Atomic Heart is great
@@exysa2798 Are you are on crack ? This is their first game and advertised RT 3 yrs or so ago and failed to deliver it day one despite saying how easy and great it was. I guess Nvidia have distanced themselves from Russian devs 🤷🏼.
If you play on Xbox series X (an potentially S but untested) and plug in a keyboard, then press Num Lock and then 1 twice you get a bunch of framerate ,DRS and other information showing it running at 80~% resolution scale most of the time (in my case anyway) I only get 100% DRS when looking at the sky.
For this new studio’s first game? This is one of the most impressive projects of the year for their first game especially with all the other game devs releasing half assed work
I’m glad you said something about the low frame rate enemies that are further away. It’s a pretty distracting feature. Also the plot is so confusing 😂. But the gameplay is fun and the environments are really incredible, so I’m having a lot of fun with it 😄. (Playing on PS5 for reference. Pretty stable & no major hiccups yet)
YES i am glad someone mentioned the plot , i think its because of all the made up words and weird translation that i often time would just not know why i was doing what i was doing in the story especially as they tend to enjoy exposition dumping while you are in the middle of a fight or concentrating on a puzzle
people being frequently tricked into thinking planar reflections or baked-in solutions have some sort of RT tech going pretty much proofs that RT is more about providing consistent results and easing development than providing significant better graphics.
@@matthias6933 Trouble is no devs use planar now so RT is all we have usually for the good stuff. Lighting and GI and AO need RT for sure to look great. RT shadows are hit and miss but alright I guess.
@@matthias6933RT can provide significantly better graphics, but the way it's used now in most games, it doesn't. Metro Exodus is an example of a game significantly changed with its use of RT.
@Andy HD Gaming It's ok but doesn't get close to something like Elden Ring. If your GPU can handle it, do DLDSR to DLSS for better picture quality than TAA.
I’ve played through 2 hours so far. Graphics and art direction are great. I might wait for a patch though after seeing those screens are bugged. Seems to be the way with new games, wait for the launch issues to be fixed and then play it.
As of Feb 24 2023, for PC: 1. Non RTX Nvidia users: You can use the FSR2 mod to upscale for better visuals and performance 2. AMD / Intel users: No FSR2 support for now but you can edit the engine ini to enable Gen 5 TAA (TSR) due to the game being Unreal Engine 4.27, for a better AA solution than in-game TAA while also using a rez scale percentage.
@@Housian TSR looks better than TAA and it runs better while looking better at a lower rez than native rez + TAA. There's no reason not to use modern temporal reconstruction techniques.
It is not true that "on average PS5 comes out on top". I recently checked over the last year+ of DF content and indeed, Xbox clears more often than PS5 when there's a difference. There have been notable examples to the contrary of course, and they get all the attention, but those are almost always patched up to parity or even Xbox superiority. It seems because of PS5 being the market leader, multiplat titles are sometimes optimized for that machine first and foremost to make launch, and then Xbox gets patched later. There's a logic to that, even if it's lame for Xbox gamers. And this is to say nothing of Sony's marketing deals, parity clauses, extra developers, etc which may also be at play. Series X remains, and will continue to be, the superior hardware, however.
I’ve been pumped to play this for years. But waiting until the RTX features are patched in. Kind of insane it doesn’t have them at launch, it’s one of the first games shown off with RTX, and I’ve had a “Atomic Heart Raytracing demo” running on my 2080ti since 2019… I dunno what happened here.
Pretty much in the same boat, especially since I still have other games to finish I'm not in a rush to jump in immediately. It is absolute bizzare that it doesn't have RT at launch. They've had footage of it using RT for years at this point plus it has frame gen which came out far more recently. Really curious what's going on behind the scenes there. I guess if the choice was between finishing the game up or properly finishing implementing RT for launch then I suppose they probably made the right choice, it's just weird this wasn't communicated at all pre launch when they've been hyping up the RT for ages.
It has so much headroom for full RT implementation too...I'm getting crazy fps on my 4080 3440x1440 maxed out, no DLSS either (TAA looks better). Like why do they have frame gen when all the 40 series cards destroy this game?
I'll tell you exactly why they removed RT. It must have been performing badly on consoles due to a variety of implementation and/or optimization issues so they decided to axe it at the last second. Now we all know that console companies don't like it when the PC version looks better than the console version and there have been instances in the past where the devs are forced to make downgrades universally even thought PCs could run the better looking version of the game. So they were most probably bound by contract and had to remove RT on the PC too along with consoles till they add it back to consoles.
I think that something must've happened with the RTX soon or right before launch because aside from that showcase from years ago, it does have the other RTX related features like DLSS and Reflex
@@funtourhawk Yeah true! I have a 4080 too and i'm playing on 1440p getting around 250 to 300 fps in internal spaces with DLSS 3 on and without DLSS 2 but with everything maxed haha. Hitting the CPU limit most probably since I have a 11600k. The optimization on this game is insane compared to games like Hogwarts Legacy (which I love) but can't really completely enjoy when every turn in Hogsmeade and everywhere outside and some places inside Hogwarts are stuttery, even on top end hardware. I get like 80 to 120 fps WITH DLSS 3 there. It's really bad.
imagine if this was made with unreal engine 5.1 instead of v4.x. Hopefully they will make a sequel with v5.x and will improve things based on feedback from gamers.
They seem to prioritize resolution over quality option. I'd rather have a toggle to make the game run at dynamic 1440p but higher visual settings . But all and all a good game . a breath of fresh air in the games of these years
Awesome review. Im not into little details in graphics but in my point of view, the game looks great. I would’ve never noticed the faults mentioned from this video even if I tried really hard. There is a trend where games are released unoptimized and right now, I’m just happy that Atomic heart runs smoothly since day 1.
I have noticed a few of these graphical issues. Granted, I'm playing on a last gen Xbox (series S digital) so that's to be expected, but it really shines because it came out and wasn't incomplete or broken. I don't mind some visual things, I'm pretty good about keeping myself immersed even with bugs.
Ya, it's a slight problem with DF. I get it's their thing to pick apart visuals, but to a "normal" gamer they can come off pretty anal about certain things
@@tbunreall I both agree and disagree. I agree that some things are hard for the average gamer to notice, but I also don't think these videos are meant for the average gamer. I don't consider myself an average gamer for example, I have a custom high-end PC and I dabble in game development. I appreciate knowing the strengths and weaknesses of a game's technical presentation whether I notice it or not(I didn't notice the lack of shadowing in the open world area for example). And that is what DF does, provides a non-biased review of a game's technical presentation. I guess where I disagree is, its not a problem. It is their thing and it is for an audience that cares about these things.
@@victorn1291 Ya, I guess "problem" is a little strong, I just mean for the average gamer they may make some things seem larger than they really are once you step away from the microscope
Yes! My standards are low, but I do agree that it's also important that gamers should still try to notice the little details when we can for the improvement of future games.
Really nice coverage of the PC version Oliver, would've been nice to see a few more comparisons of the outside AO on PC to see if it was improved everywhere not just the 2 locations shown. I hope Alex can find time to show optimised settings for people on lower end hardware.
Seriously, do you think Snowflake Alex didn't do this review due to lack of time? I hope you're being sarcastic, this is another analysis that only came out because of pressure
@Massimiliano Porreca dude atmoc heart runs amazing amazing, solid 80 90fps max 4k dlss quality, on my 1440p screen max almost locked 144fps one best optimized games so far this year
Runs incredibly well on my RTX3080 paired with an ultrawide monitor. The art style and setting are simply jaw-dropping. The first 20 minutes of the game worths it more than 85% of the games releasing nowadays. Don't expect a GOTY winner, but it's a 100% must play in 2023 so far in my opinion.
Crispy critters I’ve been playing this game on series x and it actually feels great, any frame rate slow down has been unnoticeable with vrr. Only issue has been the game not having hdr and being really dark in some interior areas but I’ve engaged hlg hdr and it looks way better. Dolby atmos has been great too!
I would think a lot of us don't have VRR displays, if Microsoft required these for a smooth game experience, this should have been a part of the marketing of the unit. I use a decent gaming monitor that supports freesync and gsync, but not VRR for console. This shouldn't be a requirement.
@@JB.zero.zero.1 that's why they and fanboys have been pushing this VRR crap that isn't really needed for PS5 anyway from the start, lazy way out for badly designed console.
Another game that PS5 outperforms the series X. Microsoft claimed that the series X is the most powerful console, so why are so many games that run well on PS5 having performance issues on the series X? We need a DF video on this.
It's because ps5 is more properly made it's well balanced across the board. Xbox just has slightly more power usually it shows in situations where the resolution is dynamic it might be more steady compared to ps5. But 99% of the time if the game is well made on both ps5 is gonna be better at fps.
Playing on Series X. Didn't notice any lag spikes or pop in of foliage at all. Did seem to be less than 60 fps in some instances and now I can see that is confirmed.
Starting this game on my somewhat aging config and getting 144 fps indoors and above 60fps outside with barely if any stutters on high settings was SHOCKING. I've been conditioned to expect games to run terribly on release it seems.
I'm having a blast playing through Atomic Heart and it's so well optimized for pc too. I'm very impressed with what Mindfish has crafted especially when you consider its their first game. I reckon their next game will probably be even better.
Yeah if this is their first game and they've built a world this interesting and visually appealing I really hope we get a sequel. Then they can refine the gameplay loop and fill the over-world with a bit more to do and it's gonna be an absolute banger.
Yeah I have seen some pacing and technical issues with the game, but then I keep thinking this is the FIRST game being developed by the team behind it and it’s insanely impressive.
I'm a few hours into the game on Series X. Played it at launch for a couple hours and then some more after the giant patch. For me it's been running so good. Like it often feels even like it's smoother than most games doing 60fps. So I was very surprised to see the mention of all these frame dips here. I don't have vrr, and I thought the performance was amazing.
they might have been slightly older code - or you know, that think where they make a much bigger deal out of a performance snafu on X over 5 is still going on (such that they use tweet at the end of the year giving the wins to xbox over ps and being surprised they have to do that). Rinse and repeat.
It depends on the channel. ElanalistaDebits and my own XSX the FPS was smooth. I have G1 OLED with VRR, but I think I would notice FPS dropping under 40 FPS during gameplay.
More powerful only on paper, this is memory allocation problem. And every new game with more complex geometry will have problem on series consoles. It is what it is.
@@hababacon VRR can smooth these things out a lot. Or ur just blind, some people tend to not notice things like this. I've heard many times that "my game works great" and it wasn't, these people were just fuckin blind. Which is great to be fair, i would love to be blessed with this amazing power of not noticing these kinds of issues.
Been having a blast with this one. The exploration, boss battles, setpiece moments and puzzles, nsane environments, and Testing Ground side activities are all standout. Environmental storytelling is also top knotch. It’s a very weird game, but weird is welcome. I’m constantly curious about what is around the next corner. And it is a solid first outing for a new studio and they do have a lot to work with for a followup to the title.
It would be helpful to know what version rather than "latest patch" is being tested. Considering 1.05 came out two days ago the same day the video was posted. "Atomic Heart has also received two patch updates recently that introduce bug fixes and performance improvements to the game. The latest update, version 1.05, was released on February 24, 2023 and it focuses on improving the game’s performance during gameplay and providing fixes for general stability issues"
Many are saying for the studio's first game it's great. They're right, but I'd say it's more than that. Many recent releases don't look anywhere near as interesting and impressive as most of the environments in this game. Even for a well established studio this is impressive. It doesn't do anything outstanding, but it also doesn't take itself seriously, or pretend to be something that it's not (outside of some half baked "open world" mechanics). PSA play on russian voices. It's worth the effort of reading subtitles. The voices are so much better especially for the main character.
Really like your content but wanted to give a note about this video and the Hogwarts Legacy one: I feel like a lot of the "panning shots" are way too fast. Its very hard to focus on anything in them because of the motion blur so im just left staring at nothing. I think toning down the speed by half or even more would make for a much more attractive shot. Also i think its better to mix them up, not every shot has to pan :D
first game released, looks stunning, doesn't have to push boundaries yet they did in other places, and surprisingly they did as well in performance as in delivering a working game from start to finish. I was wary Mundfish would only took attention and never could deliver any kind of game at all, hell, at a time I had hoped it will even release as a walking simulator or art gallery under guise of game, but finished game that runs? these days that deserve standing ovation
Other than the assets on screen. It looks like any other unreal engine 5 game that isn't straying too far away from the stock presets. I'll probably get it on sale most games anyways aren't worth the initial asking price.
2020: "We got more power, we just need the games! PS5 is RDNA1 and dead haha!" 2 years on, only PS5 has showcased truly next-gen exclusives, PSVR2, a better controller and is kicking the Xbox's butt in a LOT of games
I won't disagree with anything you said, although for nearly $1000 US a complete PSVR2 setup better be nothing short of amazing. What I would like for DF to do is investigate why games are still coming out on Series X in a subpar fashion. Is it down to the *tools* still, or the way the memory/bandwidth was designed, or is it simply that no developers, especially with these cross-generation games, are using the features of the hardware, like SFS, VRS and a huge one in my mind DirectStorage? If this game is really down to I/O issues on Series hardware and they are not using DirectStorage, then that could be the issue. I've read that DirectStorage will save a lot of CPU cycles. I think this would be a great DF content piece, and they should go directly to developers and Microsoft for the answer, it is not a secret that games release in a poor state, just to be patched a few weeks later especially on Series X
@@davidandrew6855 I've heard a few theories regarding this situation. I think that Xbox having two SKUs vs only one on the PS5 hurts the optimisation. Another theory blames the DX12 Api. The split memory setup, as you mentioned, could also be a culprit. I think the PS5's easier GDK and higher popularity forces devs to optimise for the PS5's lower CU count, where it's faster clock speed gives it an immediate performance boost. And PSVR2 IS amazing. Most headsets that can compete with it go for 1500$ alone. Pavlov's developer says the PS5 outperforms a PC rig with a 3090ti by 10% thanks to its foveated rendering.
@@RandomGamingMoments925 Having two consoles with differing performance profiles certainly will add to the optimization load, but I don't think it is the answer for some of these games performing so badly on Series X, or released with obvious bugs that should never get through a decent Q/A department. It could be DX12, but I would hope not, and if so, what can be done about it, as I have seen similar issues on PC with the same titles also using DX12. Microsoft really needs to step up here, I think this is really a bad showing for them. I also think the design of the PS5 is better in some instances, and I like the higher clock speed of the PS5. IMO, Microsoft should have had the Series X and S both at 2Ghz, I know it is easier said than done, but these systems are clocked to slow for my taste, although I'm still very impressed with titles that are actually optimized on the Series S, the performance there is very impressive considering the price point and size of the console. As for the Series X, I think they should have gone with a 40CU count part, like they did with the One X, and that should have been clocked at least at 2.2Ghz, and the split memory bandwidths, I'm not sure how much of an issue that is for a competent dev but seems like 16GB of 560GBs memory bandwidth would have been better. But then what do I know, I'm not a hardware engineer. I'm not much of a VR fan at the moment, but it is good to see Sony continuing to push VR. Maybe this will make Microsoft rethink its strategy there, as competition in that space on console would be interesting.
I kinda miss a word or two about the missing HDR. On my LG TV it looks REALLY dim, as if my panel dimmed like crazy. If I enforce HLG HDR, it looks way better in the sunny opening scene, but ofc it is not natively mastered for HDR so colors wash out.
100%. It really needs HDR. The colours look a bit too dim and flat on my LG C1 and lack pop. Even if you turn up the brightness in game, it just looks more washed out. I think all games should have HDR nowadays, especially story games like this.
Another thing that I hope they fix also on the console's is the text size for NPC subtitles. I like to read and hear conversations between NPCs and read world building lore but sometimes the background sounds drown out what the characters are saying and the text can be rather small to read.
I’m playing it in Italian, and the voice acting is WAY better than in English. The actor in the lead doesn’t sound like a dork, he has some humor and gravitas - it’s pretty good so far. I’m playing on X and no real tech issues 4 hrs in.
@Mickice What trillion dollar company am I lying for? I would be lying for a billion dollar company if I said that my playstation never had any issues... i didn't defend xbox... You're not the swiftest of cats are you...
@Anubis7 What about frame rate drops in ratchet and clank and returnal that still exists today? No, the lie would be not calling Sony out on this bs while calling everyone else out for it.
IMO, it comes down to optimization and features not being utilized. The PS5 is arguably the better designed hardware, from the SSD and I/O complex etc. to the cache scrubbers on the GPU, etc. I also think that a lot of games do not leverage the Series hardware to the same degree, for this game if DirectStorage was not used, then that could contribute to some of the performance issues, as that can save considerably on the CPU resources. I think it will take the 1st party Microsoft titles to really show how performant the Series hardware is, especially Series X.
@@blackwidow7804 I agree that it is a weird concept, they should have just bit the bullet and went with 16GB of the 560GBs memory. But I think that is the least of the Series hardware issues. I personally feel it is clocked way to slow, RDNA2 hardware runs fast, and Series X should have as well. That 52CU part should be at least 2Ghz, and which would uplift pixel and texel throughput as well.
Very good-looking Art direction etc, Sad they only offer one 4K60 mode with reduced settings on the PS5/XSX because the lack of proper shading sticks out. It looks really good, but you know it could look even better without waiting for RT.
Agreed, when I booted the game up for the first time on my Series X, I immediately noticed that while the art style was gorgeous the game somehow looked very flat, but couldn't quite put my finger on why that is.
@@andreasheinze9685 Yeaa the outside shadows look absolutely terrible. Actually in a lot of place it seems like there are no shadows outside in broad daylight lol.
Something's wrong with the audio on this video... it's very low and also extremely bass-heavy, like you're in a closet with a lot of echo or something weird.
Just like Cyberpunk 2077, us PC players have a great experience while console players suffer. Maxed out 4k on PC is incredible and I've not encountered any animation problems in my 15 hours so far
Oliver's technical analysis were always excellent, but this whole video is simply perfect. The inclusion of a few words about the gameplay and story is very welcomed. He did a better job on those last 30 seconds than some reviewers did in a an 8 minute actual review video, without spoiling anything and clearly describing what he didn't like. My kudos!
Playing on PC and it’s been pretty smooth so far. 2080ti. 4K 60 ultra settings. Once I got to the outside world about five or six hours into the game I had to turn on DLSS Quality to maintain 60fps. Visuals look fine with DLSS on so I’ll probably leave it. I think the graphics are phenomenal. And I appreciate them taking a swing at a Bioshock like game. If you’re going to copy something might as well copy the best! If I had to describe it, I would say it’s like Bioshock means Wolfenstein with a touch of Dying Light. Which to me, is an incredible combo. It’s not *better* than any of those games but the influences are welcome. I paid full price and don’t regret it but it would feel like an even better value at $40. I think this game is going to have a long shelf life with many people picking it up and enjoying it.
4:36 - the reduced rate animations were certainly noticable when you first come across the drill worm as i run the game at 100fps/165hz the 30hz worm was certainly odd looking
@@chrisbullock6477 Are you talking about the political drama? That definitely is interesting but it seems not DF's metier and they just duck. Same with Hogwarts Legacy.
@@chrisbullock6477 oh palease, there is mostly no fuss - but a bunch of people who want to have their Hogwarts-again moment are not finding anyone complaining enough, so they have resported to lying a lot on the Steam forums.
The worst bug on xbox Series x is being unable to grab the most rare item needed for crafting. This just makes it impossible to craft a certain weapon and upgrade others. You see the item floating after deafeating a boss, but the game just doesn't allow you to get it.
not encoutered that bug on my playthrough on SX, started day one defeating the first boss, next 67gb patch i did a few bosses and finished after the 15gb update. Will say i encountered some strange bugs like item text locking itself on HUD, Boss health bar floating in the map after it died. also had one where the game suddenly kicked me off into the xbox menu.
@TwistedPaolumu my game is fully updated. I guess I'm just unlucky. It's just frustrating not to be able to craft every weapon in the game, especially the railgun that seems to be the most powerful weapon. Tried reloading the save, changed the difficulty, nothing worked. That damn neuromodule keeps floating, and I can't grab it...
What's the deal recently with multiplatform Xbox releases with performance compared to PS5? Seems like the series x always has some frame rate issues. Is it because of lack of optimization since developers are forced to do a Series S version as well?
I would say certain games prefer the faster I/O and GPU clocks on the PS5. It's also noteworthy that the 12 tflops on the Xbox is if it's 100% optimized and running 100% perfectly. Which hardly no game does. The SX, while being higher bandwidth memory also has a smaller memory pool. Seems the PS5 is just easier to get more out of. Also DX12 is a slog and Sony using a custom API designed to take advantage of.
I think ps5 is just better projected to be easy for devs, xsx have some weird constructive decision like ram with two speeds, gpu more cu but with lower clocks, and i think quick resume is something good but we dont now what this use, ram? I think xsx is better in bad optimized game cause of soft power is higher, but when starting to be better optimized ps5 be better cause is easier to opti.ize and they can easier use more potential. I think sony can have right when say less cu with higher clocks is easier to project games than under 50, sony meet with many devs and sony say devs say they be better if they focused on clocks with lower cpu this have on paper low power but easier to optimized, i think ms just going for PR and marketing and most important think is have 12 teraflops and be most powerful console.
@PennywiseTheDancingClowN ! A game being so broken you can't even pause the game has nothing to do with hardware it's an optimisation issue. And this game is a last gen game it doesn't use the SSD or new IO it uses last gen streaming methods made for 50MB/s hard drives. I don't know why people keep bringing up IO when no game this gen taxes it not even rachet and clank or the matrix demo.
Really enjoying this even though it’s a little rough in places! not sure how anyone could say this glorified the reigime, a scary alternate reality take
Having just finished it on PC with a 7950x and 4090. Frame times weren't perfect, but I found very few complaints of the visuals beyond lack of RT and animation framerates. Looks fantastic with frame generation with DLSS Quality and actually enjoyed the convoluted story and lore actually 😌
This game is absolutely superb , don't know what some of the reviews out there are about, its got everything including eye popping visuals. Easy buy for anyone on the fence. Simply fantastic, and bravo to all the hard work the developers have clearly put in.
Series S is putting up a pretty impressive show for this one. I wonder if some of the "all platforms" issues like lack of GI are what helped XBSS not stand out as a weak player.
@@BitCrafted Series S is not holding back current gen consoles. It has all the technicals of Series X just in a dinished form. Rather last gen and PCs with less power. PS5s hardware and software stayed relatively the same in terms of architecture or how to build games. Xbox changed a lot in terms of how to build games... architecture. That's why games on PS5 run better than Xbox.
it's not even in the leaked January dev build, just rtx options in the menu that don't do anything. seems like they stopped dev on rt and removed it to do post launch instead at least a month earlier. They should have mentioned it then, not at launch.
This game looks great but I'm confused as to what the game is trying to be Also I think the stealth needs a little work it's almost impossible to stealth kill enemies i know it's not how it's supposed to be played but why give the option for stealth if its not part of the game?
Stealth is pointless, the enemies turn around too often and you can't tell if your in their line of sight, also it takes so long to just takedown one enemy I could have killed 3 by that time
The game is a mixture of different genres all put into one game.. however it doesnt lean on stealth that much .. its more heavily on Turn Based Tactical Combat side much like the souls games where you need to learn opponents moves, and use your weapons efficiently instead of just mindless shooting like most other 1st person games... It also rewards creativity and imagination by using your imagination to mix up the mechanics. And its supposed to be treated as a slow paced scavenging game instead of a fast paced shooter... The moment you get used to the combat and plan ahead, its literally one of the best 1st person games to come in a while ... Just being creative in combat is fun, seeing all things come together exactly as you planned without the game telling you how to do it.. much like Metal Gear Solid V. People like comparing it to Bioshock and i say they are wrong. Other than art style, the game is nothing like Bioshock... Its a unique game and its the first of its kind, which is why people are confused about it.
I've had no issues running the game on a R7 5700G and Arc A770 at 1440p. Sharder pre-compiling is a nice touch. Series S though everything looked soft, and it felt like it was suffering from frame pacing issues. Especially outdoors. Some UI elements are a little too small. It's clear that PC was probably the lead dev platform, which is rare these days. Odd that Xbox performance is so rough though. I like the game so far though. There's certainly plenty to critique, but it feels like a throwback to late 2000s FPS games.
Frame rate was just dropping, no problem with the pacing, do you have a VRR display? PS: were you scrambling for parts? 5700G and A770, that's some bad choices.
@@xFaZebRuTaLx ARC still has to many hitches and the A770 is just a A750 but more expensive. The 5700G is an APU that no one looking to game should buy, the CPU part performs worse than a 5600 and the iGPU part performs almost the same as a 3400G(which gains way more performance when overclocked bc it has more Vega cores).
I remember seeing this game 6 years ago saying" thats fake and never coming out"...... Im so glad i was wrong . and they pulled it off. first game i brought at full price since Assassin creed 1 for x360( yes that long). all we ever get now is GaaS, soulslikes and open world shlock. Why does Xbox always get shorted with the performance? I thought they had it this time since Atomic Heart has been more present in Microsoft presentations.
@@cheesyspace no. There are reason why PS5 outperform SX. Giving the same time worked on both , PS5pretty much always comes out ontop. That support my arguments. You on the other hand haven't made a good counter argument, just talking out of ur ass
This is a real ue4 masterpiece on consoles. Wayyy better then Callisto which already was pushing an engine to its limits. AH has the most pleasing and clean multiplat graphical presentation to date. Forbidden west still on top.

When I first started playing I was blown away how well it performs and looks on pc. We have been shafted by terribly optimized games for the past few years. I just wish the game pass version had ray tracing at launch.
10:34 Interesting how much better the reflections look here compared to what I see with my 3080Ti. I get the pixelation like you see with Series S, even though I have all the setting cranked.
I've got a 3070 and I'm on max settings 1440p with dlss and I get about 120 fps and don't have the pixelation issues at all. Everything looks and plays great.
@@aboveaveragebayleaf9216 if you're talking to me. I haven't. I haven't update it since before hogwarts legacy came out. I should probably do that lmao.
VRR (virtual refresh rate) is making these sorts of framerate comparisons a little bit redundant. It's not like the 'old days' when drops were noticeable, no, because when pairing a Series X with a VRR capable tv the drops we used to feel (like fluctuations between 45 & 60 fps) are just not that much of a big deal anymore.
@@matacachorro4090 It's aka "It is". But whatever it's called, it works miracles. Once vrr is widely adopted (it should be already if someone bought a next gen console, i.e. a next gen TV was also an essential purchase), Digital Foundry & other fps comparators will get diminished clicks. I think people who haven't experienced vrr don't quite get how transformative it is. It's 'the' game changer between last gen & this current one IMO.
16:38 a believe a Russian based game could have some difficulties finding enough native voice actors at the moment. Did not play the game yet but probably would prefer if the option Russian voice, English subtitles is present.
I wonder if digital foundry already knows how to test Xbox games , without using quick resume , it is proved , by them that quick resume Leeds to performance issues many times .
Is this video with new update? Update released Wednesday on Xbox Series consoles Added localization improvements. Added general stability and performance improvements. Addressed random crashing issues. Addressed various glitches. Fixed framerate drop issues. Fixed missing audio-related issues. Other minor fixes.
Funny how fanboys claimed Sony paid Hogwarts legacy to run better on Ps5 because of marketing rights. Yet this game has marketing rights with Xbox... Xbox fanboys are really delusional. And same happened with AC Valhalla as well.
Any reason why PS5 games keep running better? it seems like devs are struggling with something or running into some issue with Xbox. Like this has happened quite a few times this gen, and in theory Series X should fair better.
On Series S this game looked amazing inside the dungeons and dreadful outside of them. Overall it's above average experience, worth getting it through Gamepass
Given how good the game looks I'm honestly surprised there's no photo mode. It's far from perfect (the less said about the English dialogue the better) but I'm certainly having fun with it.
I wish you'd slow down the camera more when talking about things like lighting, it's hard to focus on some elements like screen space effects as they pass by too quickly
@@darknight991 Isn't frame generation exclusive to DLSS 3.0? All previous versions only upscale existing frames, so all stuttery animations of course still look stuttery.
Seems to be a trend forming lately that PS5 versions have no major issues, and the Xbox versions have stutters and bad framerates. This happened at launch and was put down to PS5 dev kits being ready earlier and easier to use. Then it seemed to even out with Xbox generally having a slightly higher but negligible resolution advantage. Now PS5 seems to be doing better again on average? Anyone have any insight on this? Or am I wrong?
It may just be a matter of market share versus development effort. The PS5 represents 60% of the high performance console market as a single environment/performance target, while the Xbox Series represents 40% further divided into two different performance targets. So we could possibly look at it as three platforms, with perhaps 60%, 20%, and 20%. If you're going to prioritize testing and bugfixing on one platform, the 60% one makes the most sense to focus your efforts.
@@guspaz That is such flawed logic. It has nothing to do with marketshare. Developers spend money creating the games. That would be stupid to say, "Let's make the PS5 version perfect and leave flaws in the Xbox version since the PS5 has higher marketshare". That's just stupid. Developers want their money for the time they took to create the game. Games just don't run as well on Xbox Series X as they do on PS5.
@@BlendingWithHenry That's part of it, the PS5 SDK is an evolution of the PS4 SDK, while Microsoft changed things up and there's been some turbulence about that. But marketshare has a lot to do with prioritization. There are always more tickets to resolve than there is time to resolve them in. You have to triage and prioritize, working on the tickets that have the biggest impact to the most people. If one platform will have three times as many users as any other platform, those tickets get higher priority. This is true of all software development, not just game development. If developers have time to resolve all tickets regardless of impact and severity, then their time is being wasted.
On SX the game is free, plus SX supports Freesync and PS5 doesn't, so I'll experience the game better on my SX than on my PS5 regardless. In fact, I only ever use my PS5 for exclusives.
This seems like a game that would be perfect on a tube. You wouldn’t notice the slower animation, and even the old consuls would look totally smooth. I’m loving the visual style though it’s amazing.
I saw some mixed reviews for this game, but I’m enjoying it. To me, the gameplay and visuals are great. Shooting feels good, and the abilities are satisfying to use. The down side is the main characters annoying dialog, and the receptiveness of the door puzzles. Also not having HDR takes away from the overall look of the game. I haven’t beaten it yet, but so far it gets an 8 from me.
I think it's one of those types of games that you like or you don't and while enjoyed by the wider audience it'll have a smaller more dedicated fan base. I really like the game so far. It's one of those games that you need to take it at a slower place and just rushing and trying to complete the game quickly kinda ruins it.
Once again the Xbox version has performance issues. My game crashed on a save last night and ive got to replay the first 5 hours all over again Would really like to know whats going on with the X. Is the S holding it back due to development time? Is the console overall just weaker than the PS5
@@ShadowExile89 😂 Dream on… Just can’t handle you bought the weaker console? Screw what’s on paper, watch the comparisons right here on this channel! The PlayStation 5 is ALWAYS, like 99% better performing on identical visual’s! Heck on an Handful of title’s it even looks better in terms of colors and loading time’s etc. You should go to bed now and cry my a river… 😂
@@irfkaptan such a childish response. Ive a got a PS5, and no, not all games perform better there. I am however interested in whats causing this issue. Real educated responses, not foaming at the mouth rabbid children who love their plastic box more than another
I think a better analogy would be to use two cars, one having top speed (xbox) and the other having slightly good acceleration (ps5) . If the cars were to drag race, the car with the top speed would win 100% of time. But if they were to do a circuit race with lot of turns, then the car with better acceleration will win 52% of the time. Additionally, most games turn out to be circuit races rather than drag races. So, in the end we have the ps5, which is the most balanced system out of the two and thier performance's will always stay neck in neck with each other.
Man those "shaded" outdoor scenes look very grey, but otherwise this game looks fantastic. Very curious as to why they didn't bake some stellar GI if the game's time of day is static?
Just started building a PC as I refuse to go back to 30fps, coming from a PS4 Slim, owning a PS5 and Series X is great but I am going to give my Xbox to my younger brother once my PC is complete. This is one of the games for me to play on PC once completed.
I agree, amazing this is their first game, can't wait to see what they come up with in the future, good to see it runs well on Xbone, I bought it for PS5, to show support to new Dev team.
