lookin at this clip makes you realise what a great time it was in the 70s listening to these awsome songs takes you right back whats the kids of today got to look forward to what a shit time were living in now
Today is my 70th birthday 21st September and I sat thinking about all the fabulous music I’ve been privileged to have listed and lived through over the years, so today got some old pals coming over for lunch and some nostalgia……..the trouble is…….”nostalgia ain’t what it used to be” !
'Classic Rock' idiom is so tiring. 'I am into blues' No, you are into Janis, LZ and Bonomassa and too conservative to listen to anything else. Even making fun of the real deal. It's the same thing with 'the progressive 60's & 70's' and all boomers now. Pardon for the politics and the limited English. I am so fed up with the Doors.
I was about 17 when this came out. I loved this band. I was considered out on the edge of music taste, by my friends. They only listened to Zep and the Beatles and the Who, which are great bands but, I like something different. I still dig it. Listen to them all the time.
I am with you on that one I was quite into spirit and the pink fairies as well as yes. I first heard atomic rooster when I was about 9 years old in 1977
I was born in 1969. So my youth was in the 80s, but thank god I have two older brothers and so I raised up hearing the stuff from the 70s as a child. 80s had some great rock music and this century was the hightime for Heavy Metal. But the music in the 70s was so much better.
I listened to this great group from 1970 and have all their records still. The late Vincent Crane,John du Cann and Paul Hammond were great but underated musicans.I still listen to them even now and everytime i do so i get goose bumps! What a great band!
The first Album dropped like rock into our community those days, we got shocked with great appreciation. They had the sound of their time, but still something extra was felt in every song.Thank you, Zenith !
Intelligent lyricry and great musicianship. Sounds like something the Who might have done. I can actually hear traces of 'I Can't Explain' in the melody.
+David Cole .....corporate control of the radio stations and record companies--THEY pick and choose whom becomes famous, not the public and the bands' own talent...... we CANT have that happening- how would THETY get ricH???
Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols on his current job as a deejay at KLOS: "Luckily, they give me plenty of leeway to sneak in a bit of Strawbs or Atomic Rooster here and there; I’ve got to change it up a bit, otherwise what’s the point of having me on there?”
The real owners of this country don't want well informed educated and intelligent citizens capabible of critical thinking. It's not in their best interest- George Carlin =]
Cool song!!I love these old stuff from these guys. They were a good band that not a lot of people know about anymore!!It's awesome tom revisit the past through video!!
why do people argue so much about music? It is so varied and personal, who gives a shit if anyone likes a song or if they don't like it? Really who cares. These guys rock!
Well, RU-vid is a social network, so people tend to express individuality and personal tastes. Although I also understand well what you wanted to express and I partially agree with you!
I loved this when i was 15, this was in the early 70's and they were a past it group then. Still its good to look back and be sentimental now and then.
Yeah what a band 16 years old downtown at the swan of two nixs worcester 20p a pint Newcastle brown with the top off and a glass over the top 👍👍👍👍👍 times have changed
Many Thanks for uploading this classic clip.Timinol you saw them live, wow, wish I could of seen the origional Atomic Rooster lineup play live, I would be living a dream. Have been researching other uktv shows where Atomic performed. Such a great band, way ahead of thier time, Du Cann's guitar is top notch, have not heard Andromeda in a long while. Great Music !!
Great stuff. Much more a fan of the early stuff than the Farlowe era stuff. I want to travel back in time and see them on a bill with Van Der Graaf Generator and Pink Fairies. That would be a most memorable evening.
I was eleven years old when this song came out and it still sounds fresh and appropriate today. The seventies was a great time musically but looking back on our youth it always seems better and it probably was. Our time will come again mate.
There's plenty of music from every genre still being done, you're just not hearing it. I listen to free form radio on the net. WFMU and WPRB are both good. WFMU broadcasts in the NYC area as well on several frequencies and has since the 60s . No commercials, listener supported.
I was 15 in the UK when this great record was aired by the iconic institution of BBC's TOTP! I was soon lucky enough to see them live at 'Esmerelda's' in Bletchley, Bucks. Like' magprob' who has posted, I too with a couple of friends in my age group, were out on a limb musically. The vast majority were into Desmond Dekker, Bay City Rollers, Ska etc.....it was Suedeheads/Skinheads/Smoothies vs us 'Hairies' and our largely older friends who guided us. Our venue catered for both ....the big hall for the pop type sounds and 'The Cage' for us 'weirdoes'.....a small room, withe the aroma of Patchouli Oil, covered in comfortable thick mats where we'd lounge around/freak out listening to the likes of Atomic Rooster, Yes, Edgar Broughton Band Black Sabbath, Deep Purple et al and also Kraut Rock such as Can....happy days!!
Sadly radio today is all about making money and saving money rather entertaining us with long lost classics like this, so it is cheaper for them if they just play rock drivel like Summer Of '69 and Hotel California a million times a day - Fact.
Yes a long while ago. Vincent Crane was in the same genre as Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep fame. They changed beyond recognition after Chris Farlowe joined them.
