As someone who uses hammer drills daily. It’s important to pull the bit up every 3/4 inches of drilling. Clean the hole as you go. Will make your drilling go more smoothly
@chasinghistory8992

And do not push the drill. Keep easy pressure and let the drill do the work

I totally agree! Keep the hole clean by pulling the drill bit back up regularly. Drills quicker, saves battery and wear on the drill. I own the Te6 and SF6H Hilti's without Nuron. I can't think it would benefit me much, is very expensive and the batteries are bulky. Maybe if I was in heavy construction but I am a Maintenance manager and don't constantly use drills. The Hilti gear is impressive though. Dave.

Just helped my rock climbing brother select that wee Dewalt for bolting routes: the weight makes it an easy choice for that kind of work. Have used it already with tapcons on really hard concrete: easy going for that. The light weight helps with accuracy when working up a ladder: have one on order for myself now too, to complement my DCH333 Flexvolt.

One test I’d like to see is how they do over head. I recently had a job installing conduit/boxes in a parking garage and it was all over head work. Would be nice to see how they do when the weight of the tool is pulling them down vs pushing down.

@natdenchfield8061 Год назад
At risk of sounding like a total Hilti fan boy - honestly, becuase I use their tools I just check out their other stuff too - Hilti make an exo-skeleton to make over-head work much easier. My lack of shoulder muscles make changing wiring of a light fitting painful work after a few mintues - I don't know how you can go all day installing conduit overhead!
@bttfdmc1984
@bttfdmc1984 Год назад
@@natdenchfield8061 it wasn't all day doing it and doesn't happen often. usually, the electricians do it for us or we do down the wall installs. I was just saying in almost all reviews for these tools they do them in the most optimal way possible not really showing a more difficult situation where the weight of the tool is more on the user's hands/arms.

@natdenchfield8061
@natdenchfield8061 Год назад
Just to point out that with the Hilti and it's 4 bar lights, that 2 bar power light means it is somewhere between 25% and 50% power. with the Dewalt and it's 3-bar power light, it is somewhere between 33% and 66% power when showing 2 lights.. So for all anyone knows, the Dewalt was at 33% power after the tests and the Hilti at 50% power after the tests.. There's an overlap there so much so that you can't really say one drained any more than the other. The psychology of the number of bars left however is normally that one reads it as having the maximum of that indication left - one thinks when they see 2 out of 3 bars that it must have 66% battery left. The fewer bars you have on the metre, the more of a trick it plays on you. The more bars, the more accurate it is - if you can call to the nearest 25% being accurate.. :D and finally i notice that the TE-4 is available to actually buy! That took a while..
@ManCaverTools
@ManCaverTools Год назад
the Dewalt is a 3 bar system and the HILTI is a 4 bar system. so the amount of bard remaining is irrelevant, I need to figure out a way to have actually see the percentage of remaining battery
@natdenchfield8061
@natdenchfield8061 Год назад
@@ManCaverTools Percentage can also be a bit irrelevent in the real world unfortunately. It's probably just an estimate based on battery voltage reading and some average of what that means in some constant drainage curve, if you see what I mean. And those chosen curves will be different between manufacturers. The total energy left in the battery can be worked out by a constant drain and a log of voltage, to create a curve, and the area under the curve is the energy. There are RC car battery units that do that, for competitive racing - so that people can figure out the best charging for their batteries etc. I'm not sure what voltages they cater for.. you mght be able to adapt one for tool batteries (if it's actually a worthwhile endevour!) As you probably know, the higher the current delivery for a lithium battery, normally the less total energy it can deliver. It gets worse the closer you get to the particular cell type's maximum current delivery. I guess that's why brands have been moving away from the 18650 cells with less max current than others so you can push the tool whilst keeping away from the max - why batteries with two or more parallel sets of cells deliver more than just the sum of their Amp/hour figures as the cells are experiencing half the current load for the same power.

@RFC3514
@RFC3514 11 месяцев назад
4:06 - That part doesn't seem particularly problematic, you can just get a longer drill bit. A bigger issue is, if the bit is really long, the vacuum nozzle probably won't reach the tip, so it won't suck the dust at all until the hole is half way done. So, you're generally better off with a separate dust collection ring (that stays on the wall, and probably only limits the depth by 1" or so).
@ManCaverTools
@ManCaverTools 11 месяцев назад
correct, but if you use this size of SDS you will mainly need to a few inches or so, im not saying that you will only do a few inches for every hole. but these will be. good for most realistic situations
@RFC3514
@RFC3514 11 месяцев назад
If you want to test battery capacity, you really need to use a multimeter or (even better, because that's what matters to the user) use the tools until they stop working, because the "bars" generally don't use a perfectly linear scale (i.e., two bars doesn't mean you have exactly half the charge left, and the energy corresponding to "two bars" on one battery might show as three - or one - on another).
@bossmanz28
@bossmanz28 Год назад
Would like to see this done with a 5ah powerstack. The atomic loves that battery. I jus did a job where in total we had to drill 650 1/4" holes (which this is really in range of wat its designed for) and the normal 5ah died after 2 1/2 doors complete and the 5ah powerstack completed 4 doors installed cuz of the power difference and drilling faster. I was really impressed. And if you really want dust extraction dewalts solution is a separate canister with a shoulder strap thats powered with its own battery that is universal for any rotary hammer

I use Hilti tools for basic carpentry, scenic carpentry for events: installing set and stages for conferences, fashion shows etc, and they are great . The barrel grip jigsaw is a very stong performer in particular. I use an impact driver mostly and when I compare to other brands colleagues use, I find - for me - it has the perfect blend of speed /impact drive so that it doesn't go into impact too soon and feels comfortable long-term whilst still driving up to 100mm screws as fast or slightly faster than others.. The only thing I've felt is that they are a little lower torqued than some other brands.. but i rarely come across situations where I need more torque except some hole saws holes get done quicker with other brands.. Good power but lower torque. But, that's on the A22 battery platform. Judging by this channel, the Nuron platform has really pushed their torque performance from low to mid-table in many tests to the top! Mine Nuron tools arrived from the US last month but I've not yet pressed them into service (only just available on pre-order here in the UK, but the price is much higher.. e.g. SF 4-22: $129 in US (up from $116 when I ordered), £181/$205 in UK - I really have no idea why! )

GBH18V-20N, would be the closest Bosch equivalent to these… also I think it would be better if you included the prices for each, and the prices for the batteries. I think this is one of the most over looked things on reviews. So many people don’t think about the cost of batteries if they are thinking about switching and not everyone has them laying around of each brand. You don’t have to harp on it but throwing up a quick spreadsheet of break downs showing drill price and battery prices at the time of the video would be huge, and people will start to see the true cost of ownership. Just some thoughts to think about on your videos.

Hilti is known for 2 things. Being really expensive, and being specialized in concrete work. I feel like any other outcome would be kinda sad tbh. I doubt anyone cares but I kinda miss the old format of the channel. There used to be alot of emphasis on these tests not being "scientific", but now it seems to take after other channels who do it that way regardless. I dunno, I just feel like it doesnt suit you as well as previous iterations. But oh well, its not by any means the first thing to change, and im sure it wont be the last. At the end of the day we are still watching holes in stumps, right? Now just with more graphs and less charm (imo). Its cool that the production value has gone up, but I still remember that time you were genuinly happy over a Ryobi beating a more expensive DeWalt. Thats the kind of memorable stuff I think is disappearing more and more. But thats just my 2 cents, if it works it works. Good luck man!
