My shipment did not have the screw packages separate and labeled.. Also there was not an SD card included in the shipment.. I have had my engraver for two weeks and have yet to be able to use it.. I am disappointed and waiting for a reply to three messages I sent to them.. Also I saw a notation that said there was a charge to use the lightburn program..
Man I greatly appreciate putting this review together. But seriously, there's no reason to explain how a wrench and allen wrench work. It's a friggin laser engraver. I'm pretty sure everyone here understands how basic tools work.
Excellent step by step review. Big like. I was looking forward to getting this model. I setup my machine and to my surprise when I connected the power cables, the power button got red, the laser fan turned on without turning the power switch on. It would not turn the power off unless you pressed the emergency button. When released, the power stayed on (red) despite of the off position. I have no clue if I got a defective controller box. The reset button would do nothing. Anybody else had this problem?
That sounds really odd. Mine just powered up once I released the red E-stop button. I think there's FB group just of Atomstack- they have some info for you.
Thanks for your reply. I have not done any engraving yet and the TF card was not inserted. I noticed that after inserting the TF card into the controller box I was able to power on and off the machine. I will check the FB for more tips. Best regards.
@@Selfcreative Yes- the TF does need to be installed on the controller box as you found out. I copied the files on my PC before installing the card into the controller- this way I a PDF of the manual on my computer along with the booklet that comes with the machine.
Can someone help I received my new A20 a week ago upgraded from my A10 pro the problem is every engraving is slightly cut off on the bottom line, also when I run the material test in lightburn it barely cut through 3 mm plywood thanks in advance for your help
Hi- there's two things I would check, 1. Move the laser module in the x and y direction making sure it moves smoothly and 2. Check for proper focus of the laser module to the work surface. Hope this helps!
A very helpful tutorial, thank you. I'm just starting out, do you perhaps know the default speed & power on the 2mm plywood cutting dog test sample, just as a starting point for the next project. Many thanks. 🙂
Using the mobile app on the iPhone, how do you start engrave from the DRAWING page. I can't get to the create page after hand drawing. Appreciate your help.
Many people use a laser diode to laser engrave, glass, wood, stone, some metals (marking only), cutting and engraving dark colored acrylics, and much more! BTW- most vinyls are not laser safe. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome 😃- Here's a snip from Atomstack's US website on the warranty: Q: How long is the warranty period? A: One year warranty (We will send you the corresponding non-artificially damaged parts for free).
The spotlight or as LightBurn calls it- the laser fire button. Here's how to enable it: In LightBurn, go to Edit > Device Settings, or click here: Turn on the ‘Enable Laser Fire Button’ switch (make it green). There's also a fire laser while framing in the same menu panel. On the main Lighburn screen on the Cuts/Layers tab the Fire button will now appear- click it to turn on and increase the power see you can just see the laser beam- usually about 0.25-0.75%. Note- use only on Diode lasers and not recommended for Co2 laser machines. LighBurn link with more info: forum.lightburnsoftware.com/t/how-to-enable-fire-button/24950. Enjoy!
I just got mine put together, however I cannot get it to cut through 6mm plywood. I am using Lightburn at 10 mm/min and 100 percent power. I even made 2 passes and it still didn't make it all the way through. Any idea what I could be doing wrong here?
I have a couple of things to check- double check the focus is set properly or slightly into the material, air assist is set at max air flow, and make sure there's an air gap under the work material. A lot also has to do with the type of material- construction plywood has a lot of glue pockets which does not laser cut very well- at a minimum furniture grade plywood has worked well for most.
It cuts and engraves cast acrylic very well. Just like any laser diode dark colors work very well while blue and lighter colors/transparent colors don't work so well. Thanks for watching!
I bought one of these last year, never got around to using it. Got it all back out last night and I can not find a SD card. Do you know where, or could you post / make a video with its contents? It would make for a huge video as NO ONE anywhere on the internet, has the contents of that sd card anywhere, so beginners have no way to start. Thanks for the video.
Sure- I'll add the video idea to the recording list! Until then, I'll copy the files over to my Google drive and post a link for you- thanks for watching!
@@thelaserchannel1 ohh thanks so much! maybe add it in your description as that will also get you some views to this video. I appreciate you! I actually contacted atomstack and they replied 'sorry we have not posted them anywhere', instead of just sending me a link or the files. So you are already better tech support than they are:)
@@send-golf I checked out the SD card- it's a 4gig card formatted as FAT32. It contains Laser GRBL software and Lightburn link to the 30day trial. There's also machine settings for Laser GRBL and Lightburn. The contents of the SD card are too large for me to upload and host. All the files on the SD card can be found at the Atomstack website.
@@thelaserchannel1 The only real thing I need is the test contents. I In their instructions they say put the card in and run the tests (the settings files I am guessing). Did you ever test yours like that? I am sorry, I am new to the laser thing, I just wanted to run the little test print before I move forward. I greatly appreciate your help.
Atomstack 20w for the WIN! The Atomstack costs less and includes a very powerful air assist kit. The Xtool costs more and does not include the air assist. I also just read today that Xtool botched yet another firmware update and that is creating a lot of issues for users. I own a regular D1 10 watt and I'm just not that impressed. Maybe me opinion would different with a D1 Pro. I've had only positive experances with the Atomstack A20 Pro that I own- it just always works for me.
Hi- I mostly use LIghburn and haven't looked into the phone app. I'll make a note to make a video with the Atomstack machine using their phone app. Thanks for watching!
Hi- thanks for watching! The machine engraving Stainless steel, crystal, stone, plywood, most fabrics, wood, laser safe plastics, mirrors(the non-reflective side), glass, paper, coated tublers, acrylic, rubber, some food items, ceramic tile, leather... It can cut plywood, most fabrics, wood, laser safe plastics, paper, some colors of acrylics, some food items, leather and many others. I couldn't find any numbers for the life span of the 20 watt laser module. Many users recommend running a max power of 80% to extend the life. Cleaning the laser lens and making sure the cooling fan and electronics are free from smoke residue also greatly extends the life of the laser module.
Use the "Start From" option "Absolute Coordinates" With the machine Homed the laser will work from the x,y coordinate system. The laser will make the project based on where the objects are placed in the work area in LightBurn software.
I very good and common question. In LightBurn under Cuts/Layers there's a "Mode" column- "Line" is used for cutting and "Fill" is used for engraving! Enjoy!
It depends on the metal and the effect you're looking try to achieve and if the materials are coated and if you're looking to engrave by engraving just through the coating. The best laser would be a Fiber laser- it's crazy fast and will engrave all metals and plastics.
I have the same machine and I’m using LightBurn. I’m annoyed because when I hit start in LightBurn the laser turns on and it starts but it doesn’t actually engrave. Even on light burns highest setting the machine doesn’t even make a mark and the laser is on. What am I doing wrong?
I can think of two things to check- ensure the focus distance is set correctly and the protective lens is clean along with the curved focus lens is not cracked. The Atomstack Facebook group is also a great source of information and help. If the problem continue after checking the above I would recommend contacting Atomstack.
@@thelaserchannel1 Its weird because if I just use the controller it engraves perfect. When I send a job in light burn it doesn’t actually engrave. Is there settings I’m using wrong? The computer is plugged directly into the machine and it’s focused.
@@majormatty4753 I'm wondering if you delete the machine in LightBurn Devices and have LightBurn find your machine again if that would help. Also check if you have the SD card inserted in your machine. Atomstack has a FaceBook group that might be able to point you in the correct direction.
In my opinion Xtool advertises a lot and I think that's reflected in the price. With that said I own an Xtool D1 (non pro) and of course the Atomstack A20- both seem evenly match but you get more with Atomstack at a lower price.
