Note that the Takara version has made numerous improvements to the mold. In addition to a lighter grey plastic, they have also fixed the issues with regard to the tabbing by remolding certain parts including the shoulder pads, side window section and smokestack pipes. Later batches of the Hasbro version have also made some changes as well. My figure was literally one of the first to be produced and that is why it suffers from major mold flaws. It is not a matter of me transforming it wrongly.

Basically: Rotf: sacrifices robot mode for the vehicle MpM: sacrifices vehicle mode for the robot i really think the paint doesn't make justice in all the gorgeous molded of the mpm, it literally is half-painted, i think the price tag affected it the most. The robot mode is impressive anyway.

He didn't make this review to hate on the figure, he did this review to warn us fellow collectors of the possible consequences that can come with making the purchase of this figure. that being said, I will risk picking this guy up, simply because I adore the mold, & he would look nice in my collection. Dont forget, the ROTF Prime got electronics: 'I am Optimus Prime!" and also the lovely transformation sound. I remember when I first saw it at Carrefour, there's only one unit left, a guy was holding it, looking unsure. the moment he put it back on the shelf, I grabbed it and didn't let go of all the way to the cashier hehe. You have to admit, the ROTF leader OP was phenomenal when it first came out all those years ago

Guess it's time to wait for a DOTM remold for this one where all the problems are fixed.

I really enjoyed your transformation of the figure. Unlike a lot of RU-vid reviewers, every step was clear.

Very good review bro, keep doing this work for us fans. I would like to comment some , he has the matrix because in the second movie he doesn't change nothing the alt mode is completely the same as the first movie. Bumblebee does although because is a GM marketing thing to sell cars.

This is a must have for everyone who hates Prime's knight look.

Honestly this is the most accurate movie Prime on this scale and it's the one of the best ones to date it looks like a smaller ThreeA Toys model of the figure .. I have the older Takara Leader figure while that is nice this one just looks little better

Considering that I broke my Leader Class Optimus Prime by accident a few years back, I might consider having this Prime on my wish list, at least. A shame that I can't afford him at this time, though.

MP-10 and the ROTF leader prime are probably my favorite prime figures

There's no difference whatsoever between 2007 and ROTF Optimus so having the Matrix in this makes sense, because an accurate recreation of 07 Prime is an accurate recreation of ROTF Prime.

I usually don't buy Japanese toys; but I'm sure glad I bought Takara/Tommy's Movie The Best 10th Anniversary Optimus Prime, instead of waiting on. this thing.

Great and very honest review, dude! Man, I've seen enough to pass on this entire line. There are way too many flaws on these MBM figures for me to waste my money on them. I'll stick to just the G1 masterpiece figures instead. Maybe they'll manage to fix all of the issues on a possibly second release of these figures, and maybe, just maybe I'll consider buying these movie MP's then. I remember mentioning how cool it would be to get a MP line of the movie figures, but now I see that they've managed to mess that up... And why didn't they engineere a way to use the UFO trailer/weapon rack on this figure? Why would I even use the MP-10 trailer with this movie version? Man, Takara and Hasbro can keep their MBM line for all that I care. Im perfectly happy with the ROTF Prime and the other leader class figures I've already got.

Glad you reviewed this so early compared to when I think the rest of major markets will see it. Maybe there will be a slight chance of the manufacturers correcting some of those paint misses (i doubt it, though).

And I agree I hate when most optimus has grills for feets and also I figured out how to make his real transformation

But hey, I don't mind of the truck mode. I just love the movie version of Optimus Prime.

Hey again Actar nice review! My 2 cents: I'm sure TakaraTomy will fix the issues, as thier's will be out alot later. Giving them more time, that's probably why it's not announced yet, is they are correcting the problems. And we probably won't even know about it before it's released. And before ppl say they are same, keep in mind the fact I posted the different packaging for Bumblebee.of TakaraTomy's and Hasbro's on TFW2005. And how completely different they are. But I did hear they were making small paint differences on Prime. And probably correcting the transformation. Just doesn't seem like Takara will release their star pupil without fixing him 1st. Hasbro must of wanted to get him out too early.

They probably could've figured out a way to collapse the tanks on his back, to make them bigger in vehicle mode and more accurate in robot mode. I know I could've. The only problem is that there might have been a price cap, which would have hindered the engineers in creating a true masterpiece prime.

If there was nothing wrong with the Revenge of the Fallen mold of Leader Class Optimus Prime, then what was the point in making a Masterpiece version? If there was nothing wrong with the original mold, then don't remold it!

I think they might re-release this in a few years, for both ROTF and DOTM, with more weapons, and they might be able to fix the panels and paint,so I think I'll hold off this, for now. Definetly getting Bumblebee though!

This MpM is basically the copy of rotf leader class optimus's transformation, only with a few differences here and there

I almost regret paying the pre order for he MP10B instead of buying this, damn, this figure is almost perfect.

Flaws and QC issues aside, gotta give credit where it's due and Hasbro did a good job with this mold. Great engineering to make robot mode look closer to the CGI. And it's because of the QC issues that I ended up getting the KO one from Legendary Toys. Not only does it fix the QC issues the original one has, it also looks so much better overall probably because of better paint and additional paint that was missing on the original. Plus rubber tires too! Now thats a Masterpiece! And seeing all the flaws in this video, I'm glad that I bought the KO from Legendary Toys. So much better and it doesn't have any of the issues mentioned in this video. Sorry Hasbro, you guys could've done this better, instead a KO ends up being better... Such a shame.

Great review brother!!! I have to admit that the robot mode looks amazing. But come on these QC issues wouldn't be acceptable on a retail release let alone a Master Piece figure. I really wanted this now im really going to have to think about it...

I really hope hasbro and takara see this review and fix the issues before the rest of the copies of the figure come out in august, but I doubt it at this point in time. maybe the later releases will fix everything

I'm getting this Bot Mode is Gorge it has a switchable battle mask and even an opening Chest to reveal the matrix of LeaderShip which? No other review seems to point out surprisingly? crap load of die cast amazing articulation And Just looks to Damn Good!!! the only thing I'm not a fan of is the Paint being half assed other then that! I'm sold!! Hell! I'd buy another one if they make one able to Combine with A movie Masterpiece Jetfire if they ever get to it lol 😅

I have recently watched a review done by a Japanese reviewer, and he pointed out some great point regarding this "masterpiece".(don't get me wrong, I think the engineering is there, just a lot of things happen here and there that keep it from earning a true masterpiece title imo.) He pointed out that both Takara Tomy and Hasbro's logo are there, so Hasbro may decide to cut the cost manufacturing this toy, so we can explain those missing paint jobs, also he mentioned not only himself, but many of the collectors who bought this toy are having a tough time to transform Optimus back in his truck mode.( the front engine part just won't tap in) In conclusion, he thinks in the future those issues may get fix if Takara re-release MPM-4 on their own(Takara version of transformers always have more paint job, age of extinction deluxe Lockdown, voyager Optimus Prime in evacuation form) However he thinks that this move disrespect the foreign consumers, we are talking a masterpiece tier figure here, it is reasonable for us to ask for those paint job and engineering to be done right. For those who are interested in this toy and can wait, do not buy it at this moment, we have the right to get what we want, it maybe tough for the engineers to fix the tranformation problem, but come on, at least fix the paint jobs so the box art will not deceive people any further. Thank you Actar for bringing us two pieces of informative reviews, all of the pros and cons are very valid, and I got to say you have done a great showing us a detailed and clear transformation of this MPM-4.

I am not finished with the video, but I wanted to say about the vehicle mode on my old optimus prime was that I did break one of the tabs of the panels that goes above the wheel well and it STILL tabs in with the remaining tabs. In fact, it removes a step on one side. So I am interested why there is less contingency connections to make sure it works

Yep, it's the old half n half. I first saw this in your Guilmon to Gallantmon review, on the back of Gallantmon's lance is Guilmon's tail.

Having seen it in person, all I can say is: The colours are truly a bummer on this. The red is dull, the blue is flat and sliver does not stand out. Interesting mold, however, the paintjob is amateurish; for that asking price, I kinda expected more. Hopefully Takara would do a better job on this.

Good review, and IMO the vehicle mode being smaller than ROTF leader is a /huge/ downside as it doesn't scale with MPM03 And yes, since one of the biggest thing about the bayverse was supposedly little to no mass shifting, scaling imo is very important esp in the same line (masterpiece, no less)

To all the western people in this comment section... not all of us asians speak broken english or have a weird accent... well a majority of us do but a lot of us speak great english! Some of us even speak better english than americans..

I don't mind that there are problems in truck mode because this figure looks so awesome and clean in bot mode, not like ROTF Prime. But that is disappointing that there is missing paint on him though...

Maybe you could put the weapons into the trailer.

Idk they could have made the gas tanks better they could have done the correct size and just made them collapse able. And it would be nice if they stayed with the prototypes paint job like it was one the box.

I think they made the right choices of giving up a good truck for a fantastic robot, they did the opposite of what the did to tlk voyager prime.

I think since it''s Optimus, only the most known Transformer ever, they really had to pump out numbers to as many kids as possible. And so with quantity comes lack of quality, the joints, the transformation, the paint, all suffered cuz of this.

How long do you think it will be before a new version comes out for ROTF or DOTM? I kinda think they will release iron hide, jazz, or ratchet and a few deceptions before they ever do another movie masterpiece version of prime.

I understand of the paints in the robot mode. But if you or anyone like me is a gunpla builder, you can fix the paint job that are half done. No problem at all.

...AND it comes in the vehicle mode, in an ugly-looking box with ugly box art. Was it too much to ask for a display case-looking box such as the one ROTF Prime came in? Even though I was really excited for this to come out, the ugly box combined with the other flaws you mentioned (the half-paint, the chest/head size inaccuracies, the back etc) will probably make me not buy this. A real shame they couldn't hit a homerun with this one. Maybe if they release an updated version in a better box and with all the screw-ups fixed, I will reconsider buying it. For now - no.

really wish those original five from the first movie would get the mpm version

Just got my mpm bumblebee yesterday, and im disappointed as hell. I paid MYR400 for that, expect it to be at least equal to the value of MYR400, yet it doesn't. Forget about the paint QC, i can just accept it since every TF do have paint issues neither more or less, but what i truely can't accept is the left wing of mine is loose like hell. The wing (and the part connect to the left front wheel) is floppy like hell even you just move the bee a bit. I have preordered mpm optimus as well, hope the QC wont put me down. Else i will be totally give up on this line.
