Adosia ships our 12V DC normally closed solenoid water valves with a connector wire attached. This video demonstrates how Adosia connects wires to the solenoid valves we ship our customers.

*note - we do not solder a flyback diode across the solenoid terminals as the Adosia IoT IO boards feature onboard flyback diodes in parallel with each motor / EM switching channel.

99% vistors here are because they wanna know what is positive and negative connector. And give to you dislike because you do not mentioned that in this video. It is no matter for this model anyway :)

Does it matter which wire is on the left and which one is on the right on the connector, i.e. is the order of the red and white wires important?

Hi - what power DC adaptor did you use? I have a 12v adaptor using the same valve as yours between 0.02mpa and 0.8mpa but for some reason it only opens partially so the water entering is it very low pressure.
@adosia
@adosia 4 года назад
Thanks for your note. We use a 12V/1A power adapter for most applications. It seems your valve may either be defective or not able to draw enough current as you suspect - these valves can be hit or miss and we always recommend testing them in groups for performance comparisons

Does which side is positive / negative matter?
@adosia
@adosia 4 года назад
Polarity can typically be disregarded for most solenoid coils - so no, it doesn't matter which side is positive / negative.

@@adosia So it's not series connection, we can use any port as + and the other one - connection ? Right...So the 12 v will not short as it's coil ? I hd a doubt so asking
@adosia
@adosia 4 года назад
@@maheshidol - correct, polarity typically doesn't matter with these valves, but you will want a flyback diode across the leads to prevent current surges when the solenoid disengages - google "flyback diode" for more info

Sir can I use Jumper only to connect to solenoid valve? I mean without the connector. I'm using ADC 12V/2A and solenoid valve exactly as yours but it doesnt work at all.. I'm confused. Is my solenoid valve broken? Thanks.
@adosia

it's possible the valve is broken - we have had mixed results with procuring these

Yes, I have a most serious problem, a real crisis, to solve with a Solenoid Water Valve. Due to Covid-19 my wife works from home. To ease her boredom I hung a bird feeder in the tree outside her window. She delighted in her birds at first but now she battles birdseed greedy squirrels all day. The plump squirrels are oblivious to her scare tactics; waving, yelling, knocking, etc.. Even her outdoor efforts fail. Rude squirrels simply climb higher and bark obscenities down at her. Once she turns away they’re back at the feeder. I need a Remote and/or Alexa Controlled Water Solenoid Valve (Preferably 8VDC battery or possibly AC Low V). To drench these plump Critters. Preferably a valve that stays opens about 5 seconds. Any help is sincerely and greatly appreciated. TY Best Wishes! And yes we feed the Squirrels elsewhere too, but they love birdseed or maybe they just love pissing off my wife.

Is it posible that electicity somehow pass valve? If it is, could 12vdc be harmfull?
@adosia
@adosia 4 года назад
Anything could be possible in the case of poor manufacturing. With that being said we've never been shocked using/building out our setups and don't take any special electrical safety precautions as 12V is considered low voltage (relatively harmlesss) with these types of embedded systems It's the current that's dangerous => V = I*R, where V = the voltage drop (12V to ground = 12V), I = the current going through the medium, and R = the resistance of the medium dripping the voltage (human body). The current is directly dependent on voltage and resistance of your body, and increases as voltage increases.

Not all hardware is created equal. These particular valves are rated at 12VDC. While some components can operate at lower than the specified operating voltage, you will need to determine for yourself with the hardware you are using.
