People forget that during the opening sequence Steves character here can be seen buying a magazine called “dogs arses” from Pops newspaper hut

the look she gives him when he says 5 when he is asked how confident are you, & he immediately lowers it down to 2, priceless

Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton are an amazing comedic duo, still seriously underrated even after Inside Number 9.

Some of their characters are so brutal, but you can't help finding them funny. I loved this comedy from the moment I started watching it. I caught it by mistake channel hopping and thought I would give it a go...comedy gold!

Anyone remember the opening sketch when he stops at Pop's kiosk and buys a copy of Dog's Arses?

I love the way his eyes are all black, adds that dark element

The lighting makes his eyes look pitch black, it's great!

This was the 1st League sketch I ever saw, and what got me hooked on the series. I still ask people "are you very kind, kind, fairly kind or not at all kind to animals" at every chanceI get. haha.

Its amazing how it suddenly turns so dark at 2:00

i work in a probation hostel, and can i just say, pemberton portrays the role of a wrongun all too well.....lol.

The strength of this material easily matches any great British comedy series. Even monty python.

God, Reece makes me laugh so hard in this sketch.

Seriously. I laugh till I cry every time I watch this. Gutted her character wasn't in the series again. They NEED to bring it all back.

Pemberton’d character reminds me of David Sowerbutts in his earlier days. David when he still had an element of social skills. And then fast forward 10 years to what we see in Psychoville and Inside No 9!

These guyz r comedic geniuses, psychoville is 1 one of greatest things ever created.

I have always maintained that Little Britain takes a lot from this show. I used to say Little britain was a bad rip-off of the show. League of gentlemen is excellent, dark, subtle, sophisticated. A lot of people just don't get it. There is nothing quite like it, thats why it is my all time favourite!

You don't think so? That surprises me, I actually find these characters really deep. The "I didn't force her" line gives a really dark backstory that we can figure out if we like :)

Just revisiting this brilliant series…. I loved it then and I love it just as much today…. The acting and the writing are superb ❤️

This sketch is a little influenced by a Victoria Wood sketch from the 80's - particularly the line about "blowing up a paper bag". She was a big influence on the Gentlemen in general, as they've often acknowleged :)

And lets acknowledge the irony in this - Olive is "normal" yet she is a HORRIBLE person....openly mocking the client in front of her.....dissing other clients....not showing any empathy to those less fortunate than herself....Yet SHE has a partner....SHE has friends.

one of my favourite comedy series ever! regarding little britain, i do like the series but in the end they just brought out all the popular/commercial sketches again and again and just a very very slightly different scenario, i felt LB had some genius sketches in there which they only did a few sketches on probably because they wasnt as marketable as some others. League of Gentlemen is genius because it actually crosses both boxes as being a sketchshow and a sitcom
