Its an ant horror story...ants lead quite dramatic lives actually
@janeilnold5863
@janeilnold5863 5 лет назад
Ants are more intelligent than most realize. They are quick to notice problems and do their best to solve it. In this case, they became aware how how infected individuals behaved and then learned to dispose of them before the fungi can infect others. They may have tiny brains, but they sure know how to use them!
@tentailmadara2500
@tentailmadara2500 5 лет назад
It probably an instinct kinda thing, a ant that doesn't work is throw out, i dont think they are thinking that far
@Deoix9877
@Deoix9877 5 лет назад
while ants are quite inteligent, is not the type of inteligence we have. individual ants are quite dumb, but an ant colony is considerably smarter, showing good problem solving skills. that's why creatures like ants and termites are refered to as a super organisim. Don't think about an ant colony as a society of individuals, but as a single big creature made up of ants. a single ant isn't really capable of learning and planing ahead, but a colony can.
@LadyBakura92
@LadyBakura92 5 лет назад
@@tentailmadara2500 This instinct thing is starting to feel more and more just like an excuse to avoid discussing other creatures intelligence. Ever heard of ant cemetery? Usually when an ant dies, it get carried into a region of the anthill where all their deads are located. Then why would they take an ant that behaves weirdly and throw her away if they don't give that treatment not even to their deads? Why don't they eat it instead? It's pretty obvious to me that there is a sort of understanding of the disease, of course they might not know what's causing it and why, but they sure know that they have to place the infected ants far away from their colony to avoid further danger. This can't be only instinct, since it's not something innate but it's obviously something that the colony learned through experience.

Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, it would take at least tens of thousands of years for Cordyceps to gain the potential to navigate a completely new nervous system, not considering how long it would take it to evolve to warmer climate. In fact it's much more probable that raising temperatures would serve as the demise of the Cordyceps fungi rather than a selective pressure

That's how all the victims went through in TLOU. It's cool how ND went crazy and thought of clickers and bloaters. Imagine when the desease period lasts long enough, your whole body starts to cover up with hard fungus shells, your skin pops open, fungus grows and starts to speard spores, eventually your head/brain (that's where the fungus concentrates the most) becomes mindless. After some time, you can't see or smell, just bite and orienteering by the tiny sound echoes, like a sonar. And on the last condition, your body starts to fill with fluid inside, you become fat (maybe noticed when a cat drowns, he becomes super fat, like a round baloon), your veins burst, you're practically completely covered with scales and spores, hence you are turned into mindless killing machine and with ease can torn everyone apart or throw away a peace of "what used to be a flesh" with spores. It's just so fucking awesome, that guys from ND researched what cordyceps fungus is, its behaviour and nature, interpreted in their game and "improved"/developed it even further. Nature sure is scary and fascinating!

human population will be in total decline by 2100 anyway, there's no need for a virus or fungi, like was the case with all other great cultures, even the Roman, there will be great population decline and measures such as a bachelor's tax will be implemented to stop it. still, cities will act as machines will take in people from the countryside all over the world, use them up as labor in poor living conditions (which they'll have been conditioned into thinking are acceptable and good), and produce no offspring. like how by the 5th century Colosseum in Rome had over 420 species of wild vegetation living in its ruins (the most grand artifact of civilization was reduced to a rural ruin), by 2400, the human population will be gutted with or without catastrophic virus/bacteria/fungi plagues.

The way how everything is filmed, told and represented through visuals and music give us an extremely accurate representation of Mother Nature and her power. Nature is beautiful in how much it can be deadly and terrifying and deadly
@hubertdenise3100
@hubertdenise3100 2 года назад
And why we never should try and control it.Controlling nature never works.We drained the fens of east anglia and now the land has sunk below sea level so that it will be easily sunk by the rising sea levels.We killed off wolves in places like Yellowstone and the ecosystem declined as the deer ate the plants down and the land became overgrazed and degraded.We decided to build groynes on the coast to trap sand, but this actually made it worse as new material was cut off for the other beaches, causing worsening rates of erosion.Man must realise despite his intelligence, ability to invent and knowledge learned, he is not a god or a creator, nature needs no such hand in matters.Man must learn to accept nature as it is, not as he sees it should be, wolves must be left alone to roam the lands and manage prey levels, mangroves must be kept as they are what helps protect coasts from erosion and sea floods, and marshes are not mere obstacles for development but needed features that act as a sink for floodwater, minimising damage.
