To be fair, Homelander hates liars and always wants to be true to his son. Only time Homelander isn't 100% genuine with Ryan, is when it involves Butcher I've noticed only that. He clearly hates their bond and is highly threatened by it. Homelander does truly loves his son, unfortunately Homelander was raised and ruined by Vought & their scientists. Do believe Homelander will always want that unconditional love of Family & Ryan is literally all he has of that. Antony Starr is amazing and the star of the show. He shows when Homelander is being genuine & vunerable clearly, he's done with Ryan from S2, especially during ep 8, S2 & 3 finale.
