But Ymir was lying out of good intention because she really believes Historia will be "saved" if she joins them. (I'm saying this because I know you've seen the next episode already.) But Ymir eventually realizes that there is still hope for Historia even if she stays behind and not join them.
Adding to this, Ymir also lied to help Reiner and Berthold, another unselfish reason. After getting Historia and when Historia started to persuade Ymir to stay behind with her, Berthold told Yimir they could've escaped, but since they stayed and did what Ymir said they might both (both being Reiner and Berthold) die, literally asking her "Did we really do all that for you to change your mind and stay here?"
she was telling the truth. she admitted that she "stole" titan powers from one of their friends and knew she would want to be taken in for it. And that if she brought historia in, it might help keep ymir alive a little longer and a higher chance for historia to survive

Ymir lied by making Historia believe that by coming with her, Ymir will be saved. We know that because it's what Historia said later: "Conny! Sasha! Leave me be! Let me go! Ymir said if I don't go with her, Reiner and Bertholdt are going to kill her! If she hands me in, they'll let her go free!" And that is where Conny and Sasha knew it was a lie. "If [Ymir] hands [Historia] in, they'll let [Ymir] go free!" Ymir will never hand Historia in just for Ymir to save herself.

To clarify Bertholdt's speech without spoiling So they talking about their hometown and Ymir handing over Historia so they can negotiate her killing Marcel, so obviously there's an entire community on their hometown and laws. And as we saw on Ymir's flashback there really is! There's even soldiers that captured their cult and as we see they're not Military Police or Garrison so it's not the same government as within the walls. So clearly Bertholdt and Reiner aren't in charge of deciding to murder everyone as you said before someone higher is pulling the strings and it doesn't matter if Bert and Reiner change their mind to either side with people within the walls or their hometown because there's something bigger going on than them invading the walls, and one possibility is the government from their hometown have their family members at gunpoint. Explaining why he said "Do you think I wanted to do this?! Someone please find us!" while what they did is truly unforgivable you can really tell they regret what they did but they still continue their mission because there's people they wanna come home to just like Annie with her father, these "invaders" are clearly conflicted at what's right. We can see Annie cry for the first time when they watch Marco getting eaten, when she failed to capture Eren, and when Eren almost ate her.
Ol’ Bert and Reiner weren’t shook just cuz they thought Annie was being tortured. At that point the two of them had absolutely no idea Annie’d been smoked out and captured. They were leaving with the thought that at least they still had Annie undercover. Stop viewing Reiner and Bert with so much hate.... it’s exactly how the Military Police acted with Eren and believe it or not they were justified. After all, Eren nearly attacked the team and Mikasa back in Trost... so he fell well within the lines of being called an enemy of humanity. Y’all are writing these two off with no knowledge whatsoever of their past or reasoning. Heck Eren might as well have been killed and dissected. 3:26 She is saying "titans isnt bad after all" because she was turnt into a titan, so she didnt "have fault" of going to eat people, she felt it personal. Ymir is so complex, but is one of the deepest characters to be understood.
Erwin is known for his suicidal tactics but hes not the typical commander who lays out the plan and watch from the safe side. hes the 1st one to charge directly

When I first watched aot, I definitely had a lot of the same sentiments I’ve seen you guys have, ones that are a bit one-sided (and of course for good reason sometimes) but seriously, I hope you guys go back and rewatch the whole show at some point (preferably before the final part comes out next year) and there’s so much that you’ll be able to see and understand better- plot points, perspectives… I think I’ve rewatched it at least 6 or 7 times and there’s still little details that get me.

You're missing the point. The point is, if you're in their shoes, you MUST pick a team. You can't play both sides. You pick your side, and fight so you win. That's it. There's no "oh both sides have a point it's morally grey" when you're involved.

Ymir was literally trying to kill her. She said, “tell Ymir to stand down or I’ll have to kill her too”. Anyone would’ve done the same, you’re just dense. By Ymir doing nothing she isn’t sacrificing her own life, she was literally making it harder to save Eren.

Cheering that Mikasa was about to attack Ymir? Not believing Reiner/Bertholt? Fyi, this isn't the Eren & Mikasa show. Try to be more open minded, there's more layers than just the fight scenes. You'll enjoy the show way more if you see it from all sides.
I understand where you are coming from bc I felt meh knowing what we know now. Just remember in their eyes they just see bad guys. Remember how you felt before you were slapped with the massive genius foreshadowing that is AOT.
The show has given us many hints that they are not evil and have their own struggles, yes they did a terrible thing but the fact that she is slow and he sees this show as black and white hinders them substantially
It was obviously a lie because what Reiner and Bertholdt said was christa would be spared and YMIR might die. She said the opposite of what they said in the previous episode.
Idk if this is spoilery but remember ymir ate one of there friends, and she's a titan. They also took her when they were taking eren. Why would they take ymir also? Like what do they plan to do? I mean there's only so many options, and we can all assume one would be death. Being reiner and them are on a secret mission that there not supposed to know about.

When I first watched I saw the struggle that they had based off bertholdts sadness and shyness, Annie’s struggles in season 1 and reiners mental struggles, it’s obvious they aren’t evil, Reiner risked his life to save conny. These guys just don’t pay attention, look at his smug faces when he doesn’t believe something and think someone’s lying, it’s because he sees this show as black and white and doesn’t understand nuance

I understand when the word disappointed is used. They can surely react how they want to, I think what he or she is trying to say is that knowing what we know now is disappointing to hear the lack of empathy towards these characters. Please listen to what the characters are expressing and take what you've learned up to this point and understand the bigger picture at hand. Words mean things. "who would want to kill people on purpose" or whatever Bertholdt asked. That's a big indicator something else is at play here. I think this comment was just saying keep that in mind and don't get so caught up on whose right or wrong bc the storyline isn't so black and white as such.

Historia won't be killed duh. She's royal, Marley would love to have a loyal royal Eldian in their ranks to bolster their control over titans (like zeke) & be the host for the Founding Titan which they're plotting to capture. Ymir cares for Historia. As things stood, Marley is a powerhouse & they''ll surely destroy Paradis, so Historia would die within... If Ymir could take her to Marley, at least she'd be able to live .
