And i don’t know if it was intentional but there’s a Easter egg, Gaby has a straw hat that looked like Luffy’s so i don’t know if it was a one piece Easter egg
@@AstonishingRed sorry Recently I have been looking into comments and some people put nonsensical things just to hate the ending so I thought you were one of them and I think some of the likes which you got are those people
That’s actually a pretty good explanation. Because that would’ve been one of his last memories from the future before he died. So when he actually met Armin it must’ve finally meant something to him.
I don’t think it’s because of that. I think it’s genuinely because total annihilation is not what the restorationists wanted. Eren was killing Grisha/Kruegers own interned Eldians across the world too. Krueger was fighting for freedom for his people while Eren was fighting for an idealistic vision of a free and unexplored/empty world. Krueger never would have helped had he seen what Eren was going to do, because it went against what he stood for. Grisha, who was initially devastated and hadn’t seen most of what he was going to do was helping at first, but after Eren showed him the Rumbling, he begged Zeke to stop him. Both of them (Grisha and Krueger) didn’t want their comrades and fellow Eldians trampled, they wanted them to be free of persecution and internment. That is why Krueger and Grisha joined in with Armin and Zeke. The Alliance was fighting to save the last of the non Paradis Eldians along with everyone else.
@@Alex-bw6ydThis is pretty much the exact same thing I was gonna put down. You’re so right about this. 😃 But I also believe it was in a small part because he saw Armin. 😊
Bro finally watched it💀 Bro we have been waiting for this breakdown for months😭legit thought u had forsaken us(but thanks for the incredible journey man 😭u made me love AOT and understand it better)
I agree!!! These videos make you dive so much more deeply into the amazing story of AOT. Thank you for everything and I wish every single person in the future to have the chance to enjoy this show
Armin stripping himself of his odm while heading towards the soldiers to convince them that they're human gave me flashbacks to when he did the same for eren back in season 1
Ymir craved for someone to love her. Whenever she would do the King’s bidding he would praise her. Ymir in her manipulated mind interprets praise as love. Also him allowing to have 3 children with her. Ymir interprets that as love. Now Ymir did have love in her life but it was from her 3 daughters not her husband.
THIS ! People being mind-boggled by how she could love her abuser. It truly wasn't love , it was a craving for any sort of human interaction. King Fritz was good at manipulation and he did it to Ymir from a very young age and she died young too . Eren says that it's strange , but she loved the king : Eren didn't exactly know enough terminologies to describe such a phenomenon , which we might call Stockholm syndrome nowadays. She wanted her husband to look at her the way he probably looked at other women, his other concubines. When she took the spear , Fritz ordered her to heal and keep going because she was his slave , that moment she understood that she chased after an illusion of love and would never have it , so she gave up on her life . Later she regretted not being by her daughters whom she unconditionally loved , but didn't decide for herself if it was okay to kill a person she thought she loved because it would go against everything she did or everything she was taught.
@@subratanandy2142 I could instantly understand this when I watched the episode so I was pretty dumbfounded when i found out that so many people were incapable of believing this
Nahh I don’t think it was bad writing. I think Krueger was there because the attack titan had controlled so much of his final years. Before Eren’s dad eats Krueger, the dude went on a monologue about how he tortured hundreds of Eldean’s, and served the Marley government for years but didn’t know why, Only that he had to to protect Mikasa and Armin and doing what he did was the only way. I think people who get the attack titan become slaves to freedom. And maybe in death, Kreger might’ve disapproved of the attack titan’s influence over him. Even Eren struggled with sanity near the end of the show. Saying he was struggling to live in the past present and future.
One moment that really sadden me was Levi last scene of the episode. He was so sadden. He has truly lived such a hard and tragic life. He deserved a moment of peace. He lost ALOT but accomplished something great at the same time. Maybe its fan service but I wish his character experienced that. He deserves it and everything he went through.
i have to agree that aot is a masterpiece. the mysteries were perfectly planned and executed. and figuring out some mysteries gave rise to new ones. it was so fun to watch. the ending was gut wrenchingly sad for me. seeing Mikasa at Eren's grave as an old woman had me bawling my eyes out.
Im gonna miss these in depth analysis videos, always looked forward to these after watching every episode to understand the metaphors and what was hidden in plain sight across the whole story. Thank you Turtle Quirk, for always taking the time to create these amazing videos espacially the last two of them.
@@Terrox_he is still giving his thoughts on it though. I'm sure he was working on getting his script right for a long time before he made the video. Not to mention I'm sure it is a pain to edit a video this length.
@@SerenaRosetail doesn't matter. Other RU-vidrs stole the views by now. It will take longer for him to grow views since it has been released months ago
@@Terrox_ but his following will help the video grow and the more shares the better in my opinion. I know some of my videos that I thought would do horrible ended up doing well purely from shares alone. Not to mention, I have wanted to hear from him specifically his thoughts on the ending.
I think the greatest irony of this show is that the Scout regiment, the branch in charge of finding out what happened to the outside world, would have probably been able to figure it out much more easily and with far less death and sacrifice if they decided to dedicate their resources INSIDE the wall. Instead of sending fodder out to battle in the titan fields, they should have spied on the people in power. And that goes along with what is one of the biggest themes of the show - the mistake of looking outwards for a problem that should be solved by looking in.
Hard to do when the government had a stranglehold on the populace of paradise. Thats the thing people forget about, is how necessary it is to overthrow the military to make anything change for the people of paradise. If the scouts focused on their resources inside the walls to prosper humanity, I'm certain people would still be pushed to the front lines by the government for "the sake of humanity".
I also want to add another easter egg to the baby and mother cliff scene. It was a Schindler's List easter egg where just like in both movies only the baby/little girl were highlighted because they represent the innocence of the people being slaughtered.
Thank you so much for bringing up Carla saying don’t go, you’re the first person I’ve ever seen point that out and I’ve been mentioning it to friends for years!!
The most important difference between Ymir, and the boy with the dog, is that Ymir was seeking refuge. She was running away from the people that tried to kill her for wanting freedom. The boy is seeking the tree out of his own free will. With a friendly companion accompanying him. Freedom has finally returned to the world, but at what cost? and at what consequence? Side note: also the boy finding the source of all living matter would likely also not result in titans returning. Cause remember, it granted Ymir what she wanted at that moment. She was wounded and dying, so she was granted an immortal body. She was yearning for power, so she was granted a powerful body. And she was yearning for freedom, so she was granted the power to make that choice. What would it grant the boy with the dog? What do you think. :)
In the last scene where ymir showed up infront of mikasa just when she's disappearing she closes her eyes and the next scene starts eith historia's kid opening her eyes so i think she got reincarnated since historia's baby would most likely be named ymir after her dead friend ymir the jaw titan😊
Litterally found your channel 2 days ago binged the Erwin what if (was amazing you should do more of those) and then binged the entirety of attack on titan and finished in a little over a day so this came out at the perfect time I look forward to watching whatever you create next
Phenomenal analysis. Really appreciate all the work and time you put in to making this breakdown video and it makes sense that it took you this long to drop it with all the work! Watching through this analysis made me feel nostalgic on the series as a whole and remember the hype and emotions I had watching the finale. Excellent job with this breakdown sir!
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long I completely forgot bout it, but I am so eager to sit down and watch this!!! Thank you for all the work you put in for this!
Is it possible that Falco on the battlefield having a vision where he was flying was because he took Zeke's spinal fluid (Royal Blood)... So he was able to tap into some memories?
I’ve watched your aot breakdowns ever since the final season came out. Over 3 years your explanations have fully invested me Into what is now my favorite anime/ show ever. It’s sad that we won’t get anymore aot recaps but I thank you for keeping up with them and providing this content for us .
1. Excellent video, top notch jokes and wording xD and thanks for clearing up for me, how Eren could talk to Mikasa in the paths without erasing her memory :D 2. My headcanon is, that Armin as the new figure of promimence amomg the survivors probably sent Jean to secretly pick her up with a car or something and then organized a Ship to Paradis... 3. Reiner might not stand much chance against a TRex, but let's talk about how incredibly funny it would have been for the whale to drop on them instead of Berthold xD
Something else that adds to the Jean theory is Armin has a dub only line where he mentions he knows a guy for her and they’re already close. It’s absolutely Jean lol
So jean feeling Matters and mikasa don't right, why would she ends up with someone whom she didn't loved. I don't think it is jean, tbh he deserved happy ending than being second option to someone who doesn't love him back 😂
Armin didn't mentioned it in sub or in manga, he was teasing eren. Or even if he when did armin know jean loved mikasa. Mikasa and connie had more interaction than jean and mikasa ....
Wow, this is the best breakdown I’ve watched so far! So many threads pulled up from the past episodes! Mikasa getting closure having spent quite a bit of time with Eren in that alternative reality right before his death seems really believable and is a huge relief tbh. I really liked the moment where Eren talked to Zeke about Mikasa. When he was doubting her feelings and Zeke told him that she loved him (which also showcased their brotherly bond). Also a nice take on Mikasa and Jean. I feel like it’s a nice kind of a relationship to settle with as well, for both of them, esp due to the fact that Mikasa gets to experience the same level of devotion that she gave to Eren, towards herself.
The most tragic thing about Ymir is that what she felt for King Fritz was not really love. She was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome and if you don't know what that is there are loads of videos on YT explaining it. Ymir's story makes a lot more sense when you take this psychological state into account.
It makes sense for me that kruger would stop eren. You say kruger was already going far and sacrificing people but that is not really true. The people he was torchering were going to be torchered by marley no matter what so he had no effect on those events. Knowing this I think its reasonable to think kruger wouldn't want the entire world to be destroyed espesially when alot of the people being killed are eldians.
It makes perfect sense to me, kruger wanted to free eldians all around the world and eren is killing them all not to mention that despite this he was never genocidal. There is a big diffrence between saving your people and freaking genocide
It’s most definitely Jean because pieke ask why he was grooming his hair, and even tho armin loved Annie he did admit to being an option to mikasa when he talked with eren
I didn't realise it when watching it but assuming the Armin's explosion kills Eren, then Historia's child gets Eren's powers. I think that's what that scene might have meant.
Finally, the breakdown video we've all been waiting for! I watched other videos after the finale but yours are more thorough especially with manga context. Thanks for all your work throughout the series, I'll be recommending anyone who wants to get into AoT to follow up with this channel, they pair together like PB & J
I think its really poetic and beautiful that by killing Eren, Mikasa simultaneously ended the titan curse, and ended the cycle of emotional attachment and trauma started by Ymir, by herself letting go of her attachment to him. I really mever expected this anime to affect me so much. Also i loved the animation style of the last episode.
@@JaketheMovieGeek Yes. And to add, Armin's VA did his job so well I would recommend everyone including Sub watchers view the finale in English dub as well.
I feel like the boy at the end was searching for the legendary titan powers....history repeats itself...judging by his clothes and camping gear, hes been traveling to find it to weaponize it.
Piece of advice if you haven’t seen the last season but have watched all first 3 seasons, don’t binge watch everything from episode 1. You will cry when you watch the last episode
I watched everything except last while airing. N I started from sw again and completed today. Man I'm feeling so down of the ending that even mikasa and armin getting old and die. Can't get it out of my head.
@@venomspyder3022 that’s almost what I did. Watched seasons 1-3 like 3 yrs ago and been putting off the last season til that time I left the previous comment. But I didn’t jump straight into the 4th season and continued, just started from episode 1 and binged the whole thing within 2 days. It just hits you harder when you binge watch it because everything in the story comes together so well that it really hits your heart at the end.
36:49 My Theory On How Mikasa Got Back To The Island: Hizaru had a secret flying boat somewhere on the island and went back to go get it, then flew to catch up to the rumbling but only would have found Mikasa & Eren. - Hizaru wanted to go get the flying boat during the fight at the port, but that would have been impossible, so she said nothing about it at all to anyone at the time. - After eventually seeing where all the footprints ended, she would've spotted Mikasa and asked her about the status of everything. - But an hour before she shows up, the general that gave the "I have a dream speech" at Fort Salva had called reinforcements that wouldn't have shownup with blimps until after the rumbling + final battle was over. The reinforcements would want to kill all the eldians & scouts there at the fort after getting brought up to date. But the general would have mediated the situation and asked Armin what does he want to do now? - The reinforcements showed up with 2 blimps, so Armin asked if the scouts and eldians here could go check to see if there were any survivors while he goes to help calm down the 20%, still scared of the rumblings approach. - The scouts won't let Armin do that alone, but Levi, Gabi & Falco, + Oyankopan say they are tired of fighting no matter if its a war of strength or a war of words...they're tired. - So that is what Amrin and the scouts were doing during the last time skip. While Levi, Gabi & Falco + Oyankopan were helping whoever survived. That is also how Mikasa got back to the island.
Regarding Kruger, he did say he wants to end the cycle of hatred so they don’t make the same mistakes again. The panel you showed about overthrowing marley etc.. was not spoken by him. Sure he founded the organization but you don’t always have the same reasons as the people that follow you. You have the same objective but to rally a mob around you, you need sweet words. Also “let us correct the errors of history” = “let’s take the founding titan”? Why? To me that sounds like ending the cycle of hatred. He did sacrifice a lot of people for the greater goal but there’s a limit. When all your people are dead and everyone else in the world is dead, there’s no glory or conquering to happen. This part I don’t agree with you. I loved the video though, I thought you explained things very well!
Great video! Glad to see you're ok. The Levi lollipop scene is about the 3 walls on paradise Island. That's what the spiral lollipop saddens him about.
Great breakdown! I agree with everything you said. I even (mostly) agree with your criticism of the Mikasa relationship. My issue is also just as trivial compared to the masterpiece that is the overall story. For me, although they make a good case for Mikasa being the "one that Ymir has been searching for all this time," it is one of the only times that the point seems jarring and almost out of nowhere coming in the final episode. Although I suppose that since that Ymir looking into her was the real cause of her headaches it wasn't completely out of nowhere. I don't have too much problems with their relationship not being built up though - I think that the fact that a romance had no time to develop was supposed to be part of the tragedy. Remember they were still barely older than kids at the end of the series. And during that time Eren was either focused on his goal of "killing all the Titans" (and childishly feeling demasculated for being so much weaker than her) or messed up in the head living past/present/future at once.
I have an idea how Mikasa reached Paradis. Kiyomi and Yelwna got stranded on a boat near Liberio , right ? After they reached the shore , Mikasa could've taken that boat . It would also explain how those two survived and Kiyomi joined Paradis . OR , given that Historia had an idea beforehand, she could've sent a ship to search for the scout survivors.. Jean and Connie remained for diplomacy purposes, Mikasa came back . She could've come back with the head , or , could've burned the head and took the ash and came back to bury it in an urn . It would also explain how she was able to live a low profile life in the Paradis, Historia hid her in the orphanage.
The black and white reference was a Schindler’s List reference. In that movie, the young child was a jewish kid and was the only charecter to wear red. At the end of the movie, you see the child dead in a pile of corpses as a victim of the holocaust. It symbolic
You bring up a good point that there could have been more of a hint it was going to be about love in the end. A counter to that was Kruggers last words to Grisha were about the importance of love. Maybe Erin gave him more memories then we thought 🤷🏻♂️
I think most people are missing the fact that Historia's baby is inheriting the beast titan in that scene because its the next eldian to be born right after zekes death.
😊 great job on this video my guy,you explained everything and i just wish it was more on eren and meka love 🤔but one thing AOT teach us,is that how life is so important but it can change on real fast, and that years and time will alway move on💯🤴🏾
Have anyone ever wondered why Reiner, Annie and Pieck did not get arrest as soon as they landed on Paradis? Sure, they can requested to meet Eren one final time but I think that is it. In exchange for peace with Marley and the other nations that did not become friendly with Paradis, they most likely will surrendered themselves to be put on trials and then executed later on for their war crimes against Paradis if the Yeagerists' government made such a demand. And in case anyone think Historia will intervened by using her position as the Queen, I doubted she can do anything. After all, she has no knowledge about how to run a country. So the executive powers most likely rested in the hands of the Prime Minister of Paradis appointed by the Yeagerists and the Parliament that is clearly filled with Yeagerists or at least, being pro-Yeagerists. And if their executions will bring peace to both sides, what can Armin, Jean and Connie do about this? Plus, their lives are their choices. And by that, I mean Eren may wanted them to live long. But what they do with their lives are ultimately up to them. Also, would you like to analyze my Heraclius Plan? It is an alternative that I came up with for the Rumbling.
@@lxfj2128 I don't think so. From what I remembered, I think it is about him wanting his story to be accomplished the way he wanted and he was done listening to what the other people told him to do.
Because Isayama didn’t look too far and these Jaegerists aren’t the same as Floch and the others because they died so the new Jaegerists don’t know what the alliance did
Armin, Jean, Mikasa, Levi and Connie are also guilty of war crimes on Marley and Marley let them go. It would reflect badly on Paradis to start of this Global attempt at finally letting go of the resentment/hate that's accumulated after 1000+ years of suffering under the hellish rule of the Eldian Empire and their Titans. Paradis might have become a military state with dreams of rebuilding their Empire but without the God-like advantage of the power of the Titans, they are no match for the rest of the world combined. They rest of the world might now be reduced to the same tech level as the Island but they still outnumber them and the skills and knowledge possessed by the humans outside the Island is centuries beyond anyone on the Island. Those world leaders are there because Paradis needs them to level up to the modern world. Just because the tech and industries were destroyed doesn't mean that the knowledge that built them is gone. Paradis has nothing to offer and everything to gain from the rest of the world so they couldn't have charged anyone with war crimes. They need the rest of the world to accept them, trade with them, teach them and share their knowledge with them
I heard a theory that Erin become like yimir needing someone to give him freedom. since Erin never really got that and it was his main goal it makes sense
00:34:21 awesome video! Just one thing, Eren’s mom’s legs weren’t broken. Her legs are visibly moving a lot when she’s grabbed by Dina’s Titan. She lied so the kids would leave and be safe. Which parallels his choices with Mikasa even more (in my unimportant opinion lol)
Great video 👏 My head cannon for Sasha: as her hairstyle looks different (full ponytail vs. finer hair) malnutrition from not eating a lot of meat. Also, what makes the end credits feel so real are the people who come to the grave and don’t go anymore, just like Turtle Quirk mentioned. People will live their lives and pass on, just like the secondary cast did, or always come back and remember those who passed. I believe that makes the ending nostalgic, real, and sometimes too hard to watch because of it being truthful
