i don't know if anyone has ever thought abt this. Still, when Bertolt says he thought he felt sorry for Eren after learning about his mom dying because the chunk of the wall he kicked landed on her, I always thought that him feeling sorry for Eren was just his way of saying, I do acknowledge that you guys are going through some painful crap. Still, you guys deserve it because you are the devils of paradise or something like that. thinking that he shared similar views with Gabi it would not be that difficult or far-fetched to believe that at one point, he really did think like that, which was why he only thought he felt sorry for them. I would equate it to it being like your friend tells you their dad died, and for a moment you feel sorry for them because they lost a loved one, but that man was the person who scammed your family and put u in severe debt or killed your dog, etc.

Before i had all the questions in my mind that eren ask reiner about wth he was talking about but now i understand reiners side too. Damn the anime writer is out of the world
