0:58 is quite possibly my favorite ODM sequence of the entire franchise - and it wasn't even a monumental battle or a hype Levi moment. Just a lead up to one of Eren's many transformations in Trost in a relatively tame episode. Bless Yasuyuki Ebara, this had NO business looking *this* good.
@@lazycatbl08 WIT needed more time and I think they lacked manpower. With the scale of season 4..both parts would have taken two years each. But you are not wrong, WIT's Attack on Titan was something to behold.
@@vasudevdehariya1269 Tbh, I kinda had my expectation too high and MAPPA's ss4 part 1 was below par to me. They are of course doing a much better job in part2. So I would rather wait for WIT to do it more properly. AoT would never gain the level of epicness of right now if it was MAPPA who did ss1 to 3.
The ODM Gear is the MOST ICONIC WEAPON in sci-fi history. It's the weapon that makes a single normal human just like someone of us greater than the Giants or even... the Gods. . From a random person that loves the movies
Not to talk down on MAPPA. I am sure they could do so much of they had more time, but I have to admit I dearly miss WIT's ODM gear animations. They were so phenomenal and unmatched by anything we have seen so far.
True, season 4 part 2 had phenomenal moments which proves MAPPA is capable if they were given enough time, even tho there were ODM scenes which was way much better than part 1, but still didn't exceed WIT level.
Every grappling device in animation is always peak imo, whether it’s 3dmg or web shooters. They never fail to make them look PEAK. this is one of the many reasons I wanna be an animator. It’s so fluid and badass I’m floored
Looking back, these animators were truly something different. From the crazy movement to the insane camera movement aswell is mindblowing especially for its time
The speed, the action, the details, the choreography, the dynamic camera work, this looks like it's from 2030 while 4th season looks like it is from 2010. It's so so so sad things ended like that, with a different studio that had no time to keep this level of quality, even in the episode 22 with that amazing ODM gear scene we can see how difficult it was for Mappa, almost like they put all their effort just for that one episode and it still isn't close to this level that WIT used to make (of course the time they had seems to be the biggest reason), especially Mikasa's scenes that are very fast, kinda stiff and they basically show her already on the back of the Titan's head not the trajectory until there. It makes me really sad, but I'm glad that at least we got 3 seasons with an amazing animation out of this world. These businessmen f**ed up everything.
i mean i like wit work more than mappa tbh but damn man mappa has so many projects like jjk s2 chainsaw man etc and they didnt have much time but still they are tryin their best and learning from their mistakes
@@user-xh6ju3pg8c different styles argument doesn't matter when traditional hand drawn titans and odm gear animation gets ditched for CG and lack in Between frames. Just compare levi vs Beast rematch. If you still wanna go with that argument just watch the recent ep which was filled with freelancers who made WIT like edm gear scenes.
@@gamebond6248 ...... whatever, a lot of people who hate mappa are commenting "this doesn't look like aot, the style isn't the same, only wit can make it feel aot" The thing is, wits version isn't ultimate... So arguing that MAPPA doest feel attack on Titan is stupid from the core
@@user-xh6ju3pg8c can you really blame them when most of AoT was animated by WIT? Lol, of course they'd have that feeling. I did, don't tell me you didn't 💀
The cut from 0.58 to 1.15 by animator Ebara is my favourite. It's always so underappreciated than that of Arifumi Imai. This animation from 2013 is leagues above it's time.
Imagine how dangerous ODM stunts would be in real life even without the titans. And none of them even wear a helmet. The dude fighting with the girl at the castle even hits his head badly while swinging around.
@@ahlatagaci2018 There is one scene where Armin's anchor didn't latched on the wall properly causing him to crash the wall and fall. There is also a scene where Jean's gear malfunctioned during Trost campaign
when i listen to this im reminded of how naive we were during the beginning of season 1 and all we knew was this , at the same time i feel bad for Dot Pyxis , we first saw the walls in Shingashina , and we saw them fall in Shingashina , all we can do now is hope the scenes of Genocide that follow the next episdoes have Yuugure No Tori in them.
I used to hate anime, at least the thought of it, till I was pretty much forced to watch AOT. Ever since then I’ve watched the entire series back to back and I appreciate it a hell of a lot more. There’s no way live action could bring out the same emotion and visual stimulation that this does. Very well done.
@@quintusfabiusmaximus8700 At that point,in 2013, he wasn't a freelancer. He was a talented worker from porduction ig who went to wit for this AoT project. After this season he became a freelancer animator, his name is Arifumi Imai
idk if its just me but s1 has my favorite looking odm gear shots and scenes , the movement just being so erratic made me love it , no other season ever compared to it
If you look at the breakdown of animation it is not much just simple scenes done well but the real magic is the incorporation of 3d bg in such a phenomenal way and well though compostions ❤❤❤❤
Even tho season 4 part 2 getting better and is really beautiful, but WIT ODM gear scenes seems unbeatable, WIT gone crazy and raised the bar on these scenes....
@MercenarioRJ Hmm i understand, but I also believe there are other skillful animators that can do great job, with good schedule and wise decisions they can surely deliver...
These guys Fought hundreds of titan's up close Fought an armoured and a 50 meter titan And some jawed dude asked why are they coming at him while they are humans only
To the Marleyans and captive Eldians, the titans were gods to be feared, while to those on Paradis, they were nothing more than a menace to be exterminated.
@@jaybird839 before eren and gang Everyone on the island feared them except the veteran scouts But after they managed to beat the collosal titan and armoured titan They basically became pests
Well that happened when you always torment a civilisation of people inside the wall that lived without knowing others send the titans. You expect them to be afraid after years of hell 🤣 That is when Paradis was slowly advancing in technology with Thunder Spears, ODM gear and pistol Imagine if king of the walls was serious, Marley would doom themselves 🤣
Bro just by looking at this,I realized how inferior normal humans are. Like we are afraid from falling 10 meters from the sky but these guys literally used their ODM gear to reach a titan as tall as 60 meters without any fear.
Thats why i was admired them. To think Paradis's technology is clearly behind the the ones beside them which is Marley and Outside Nations But their technology is far more in the future. And the fact that porco was surprised when Paradis were charging, heck Paradis has been fighting until it feels like Tuesday or local sauna for them😂even Marley was afraid of Pure titan but this guy charge without thinking of any fear
Its as if this song is made for odm gear....... And one complain you didn't added the part when historia kills a titan to show yimir that she's not afraid. In season 2. It would've been amazing!
If I hadn't known any better about AOT. watching this vid made me feel so hype because it seems so interesting and characters are so strong .... But in reality most of them die every damn episodes. And woah, what a huge plot twist in the end
Mappa studio is great. I really think that. But Attack on Titan phenominal with Wit studio. I love watching AOT because of the odm gear and fighting scene Wit done is amazingly done. I have no idea how many time I watch the fighting scene and marvel at Wit studio skill. I also love the scenery made by Wit. It's simple but beautiful. The forest, the open field, the wreckage place, the colors and all of them is amazingly done. I watch 3 episode of season 4 part 1 and I give up. Because it just not the same with Wit studio. Just a few days ago I pick up because I want to see AOT animation to the end even if I already finish the manga(after season 1 finish, I stick to the manga because I can't wait for the anime). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Mappa is bad or whatever. Mappa is amazing. It's just that AOT is better with Wit.
This shown that time is necessary to make masterpiece, you can choose to wait really long but get masterpiece or you have no patient to wait and get trash instead.
