The author has stated that his biggest regret with his series, it was not writing enough interaction between Eren, Reiner and Bertholdt, to show the friendship bond Eren had with the two. Reiner in particular was the one Eren admired more than any other, even Levi. Isayama has stated that Eren considered Reiner to be always better than him and Eren himself looked up to him. Eren would be even more emotionally fucked up in this case.
This is the reason why I think that this reveal felt unearned I mean, the only time Eren and Reiner even had a deep interaction was when they first met and after that it was just a time skip to the end of their training And they weren't even around each other that much after Eren's Titan got revealed. And then jump to mid season 2, Reiner and Bertholdt are revealed to be the Titans. I mean, was it supposed to be emotional? Shock value? Yes. But emotional? It wasn't, at least for me.
@@wasay._ Unless you haven't watched season 4, I think your forgetting about the scene where they talked right before Eren's declaration of war. It's one of the most well written scenes in the series. It showed how emotionally traumatized reiner was after killing so many people and Eren's mom. In my opinion, its a defining moment in Reiner's character.
@@wasay._ Totally agree. I have to admit the scene was so well done but the emotional impact was not enough. I didn't feel like Bertholdt and Reiner were dear comrades fighting for humanity with Eren. We should have seen them interact more.
The leaders of Marley were. Seeking to destroy a whole island of people who had no idea of what their ancestors were and what they did. They forced kids to do their dirty work and gave them false hope and promises. Had Marley not attacked, the series would have been different.
@@ch4z_bucksThe king : Hey so I'm gonna peace out on my island, don't attack us or we'll start the rumbling Marley : (Attack the island) Eren: (Start the rumbling) Marley: :O
I like their stand in this fanart Reiner on the front, playing the leader as he was trying to replace Marcel, giving his soldier salutation and actually believing in it Berthold in the back because he's more timid and counts on his comrades to make the first move if necessary Annie with her arms crossed, closed up and defensive, reluctant but knows she has to play along
0:00 - 0:28 shock 0:28- 0:40 confusion 0:40- 1:05 loyalty to marley 1:05- 1:25 confusion 1:25- 1:50 betrayal 1:50- 2:15 erens rage and pain Everything in the scene can be heard in the music. Aot is special man
in terms of betrayal nothing tops what they did to marco that shit was so sad i had to take a walk after watching it the first time rip marco man he really held it down while he was alive
@@lucidgazing2078 yea but its sad that it also sint what reiner bertholdt and annie wanted to do...after they realised that people in the walls were good too
Different translations; I can't imagine it's easy to translate German names from Japanese to English. Other examples include Premier Zackly/Zachary/Zacharius and the Military Police guy Marlo/Marlowe Sand/Freudenberg. Hell, I think even Levi had a weirdly-translated name when he was first mentioned.
@@CABRALFAN27 oh yeah levi as well lmao he was rivaille in his first appearance in the mangaI was like "I've only seen clips of this levi guy is rivaille like his last name or something"
I don't want to be THAT guy, but it CAN technically come from an enemy, like if they break a treaty or something, otherwise, this quite would've been perfect. Edit:*quote, not quite
@@ahsanmc According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary the definition of Betrayal is: "A violation of a person's trust or confidence, of a moral standard, etc." Why would you place your trust in someone that openly hates you or opposes your values UNLESS it serves as a means to an end, like your gonna bounce them first before they bounce you. A good example of this was the rocky relationship between the western allies and the Soviet Union during WWII, specifically between the UK and the USSR. The only reason the Brits tolerated the Russians is because they were in a desperate position (Only country in Europe still fighting Germany with the threat of Imminent invasion) and in desperate need of allies that could provide immediate support (Which came in the form of Germany opening the Eastern front and diverting troops to Russia which eased pressure on the British). Then surprise surprise as soon as the war is over and their common enemy is gone Churchill wants to launch a preemptive strike on the Russians (Operation: Unthinkable) and Papa Stalin goes back on his word of "A mighty and free independent Poland" and starts to set up satellite states and communist puppet governments. In other words its not a betrayal when you make agreements with people you'd expect to do that to you in the first place (Or you plan to do it to them first anyway).
@@xaviermontoya3105 Alright I see your point and apologize, but then what would you call it if your enemy "betrays" you? Doublecross? Not trying to challenge your argument further just curious. Thanks.
@@ahsanmc I guess a double-cross would be more fitting considering the circumstances since the word betrayal has more of a moral / serious connotation and is better used when talking about someone close to you.
Reiner: we cannot tell anyone about our identities also reiner: yo eren you would not believe this story so remember when you told us about how ur mom died
This ost is hard to listen to without getting shivers or tear eyes. Even though the 3 of them have done something horrible in the end they didnt have a choice. Just how Berthold, my fav out of 3 of them said. "In the end nobody is in the wrong. The world is just that cruel
Rainer: I want to be a hero, I want to be my mother's hero, the hero my father never was.... Annie: I don't want to be here... I want to go back to my father... Berthold: are we really doing the right thing?... I don't know, but if I doubt... I will die... I don't want to die...
It has officially come to an end... I love AOT, may it continue to inspire new readers even 50 years from now! Thank you so much Isayama, not one Anime/Manga had that much of an influence on me during my adolescent days than Shingeki No Kyoujin.
Same..I just hate the fandom you know? They don’t want to admit that the ending is flawed. It’s hard to not dislike the characters but that’s on Isayamas part. I still love the show up until the end. I used to argue with the fans about why the ending is bad but it’s just not worth it anymore.
@@sevllyne1394 Exactly the same opinion I have. Even Isayama admits he fucked up, so I don't have much against him either. But the part of the fandom who try to act like the ending is some sort of masterpiece are the one that piss me off. Honestly screw this fandom, I doubt most of these ending defenders even paid any attention to the story.
@@Kaledrone They don’t and they ironically tell those who oppose the story that they don’t understand, I find it hilarious😭 Someone tried to convince me why the ending is good and they told me to watch damn near a 2 hour video explaining nothing but their own interpretation of the story. Thats not really how it works but even if it did, the guy had no evidence to support and warrant his argument. I had so much planned for aot as an editor but now I don’t even want to make anymore video’s about it. I truly feel bad for the ones who have been watching aot for years.

@@TheChosenOnesTime the scene this is most memorable from is wholly centred around Reiner and bertholot's betrayal it doesnt really have anything to do with eren
Its not like that it was: You cant be racist if that race is only one (he meant the hatred against eldians cant be stopped cuz every race doesnt want them)
I like how Reiner is the only one doing the salute. He was really broken inside. its sad that a similar comment I made in the old video had like over 10k likes and it was lost forever
Ive hated them when i first watched the anime, but as i rewatch it the more I realize that Reiner were literally just kids that had no other choice. Kind of like soldiers that was sent out to kill in a war
"mother... i no longer have the power of the armored titan..." "are you sure? i'm so glad... reiner, i'm sorry. i just need you by my side" MY HEART HURTS... FUCK IT SNIFF THE HISTORIAS LETTER
If you actually view it from Eren's perspective, he was really heartbroken. He always regarded Reiner as an older brother. This was a very sad and amazing scene
Well the entire series is from Erens perspective. hes the protagonist, if say he weren't many ppl would've turned against him and wouldn't have sided with him in s4
mangaka says he wish he should focus on reiner and eren and how eren sees reiner as rival and big brother. By mangakas workds eren admires reiner and follows him and want to be like him. With all these eren reactions more sense
When your anime only friends reveals that they were manga readers all along... *And that they knew everything was gonna happen since season 2* *"YOU DAMN TRAITORS!!!"*
Also his arm was bitten off by the titans, he knew it would just be a matter of time he was exposed. Everyone knew about titan shifters ability to heal.
Their different poses in the photo aren’t casual: Reiner with the soldier salute represents his dualism scout/warrior and his particular mental state. Bertholdt is balanced, he cares about his new comrades but still focused on the real mission. Annie with her arms crossed symbolises her being detached and distant from the people in the walls.
So I'm new to anime but I watched AoT all the way through back in January and I genuinely have not seen anything more beautiful in any show, live or animated, than the betrayal scene. It's so good every time I watch it I get chills down my spine.
KarlOdejar 17 You will likely survive, most people dying are the ones who already suffer from health complications and the elders. Of course, there is healthy people who died, but it is just a minority.
Is nobody gonna talk about how bad ass Mikasa sprint into action and stabbed the shit out of reiner and berto . Mikasa is the definition of a badass Female character

Annie is a brillant character!! Even though she is enemys with paradis, she still liked everyone. She avoided everyone because when that time comes, she wouldnt feel emotionally attached towards them
She felt terrible after Marco's death. She even apologized to his dead body. In the flashbacks, she would always think about it. She was human and had feelings too, she was brainwashed and introverted, but only introverted because of getting too attached. She is my fav character.
She is now fighting with the bois against Eren, so something is something. Also it should be "enemies with Paradis" more than humanity, considering like Paradis Island is only around 2% of the world pop.
This is just a perfect way to show how music should evolve during a reveal situation like this. The way it starts out slowly and just builds with those drums leading to the loud choir and strings... literal perfection.
no cause why is attack on titan ost and music just so damn beautiful THIER SO GOOD AND LIKE SHOWING EMOTIONS THROUGH THERE INSTRUMENTS LIKE HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS🙇🙇🙇🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
@@tanoshiofm3852perfectly said, even without the titans there will always be war. Really sad Eren had to die that way but in all reality they would have all died in a war regardless.
Me in the future telling my kids who really is Santa: Me: “your father and I are Santa” The father: “really? Right here, right now?” Kids: “damn you, yOU TRAITORS!”
I can still hear it, even after all these years, the loud, thunderous earth cracking roar of Eren's Attack Titan as it raged on for the fist time ever, every time I listen to this. I am absolutely glad Attack on Titan was animated, it was absolutely worth it.
I have yet to watch s3 so reading this makes me feel like I might uncover a spoiler so I feel like it's best if I don't even try to guess what this means. Current thoughts: What does he mean, will Eren eat someone?
Lemonz4all Well only manga readers know, because season 4 of the anime hasn’t been released yet. But very one keeps saying that it’s absolutely stunning. So we’ve just gotta wait a little longer!
