The doctor encounters a werewolf for the first time while travelling in Tibet.
From Werewolf of London (1935): While in Tibet researching a mysterious flower that purportedly takes its strength from the moon, botanist Wilfred Glendon (Henry Hull) is bitten by a strange creature. Back in London, Glendon becomes absorbed in his research of the plant, and is annoyed by the appearance of fellow scientist Dr. Yogami (Warner Oland), who reveals that the plant is the only known temporary antidote for werewolves. Glendon remains skeptical until the next full moon, when he undergoes a startling transformation.

I remember when I first saw Werewolf Of London. Back in the Late 90s on AMC Monster Fest. Fun fact this movie back in 1935 was considered ahead of it's time. Therefore it did not get the proper recognition that it deserved at the time. This movie also serves as one of the first SCIFI horror films due to the Scientific nature of the film itself. Where as The WolfMan 1941 is more traditional and on a spiritual level. Remember Frankenstein 1931 would have been considered a SCIFI horror along with the Invisible Man 1933 if the genera was established in the 1930s. SCIFI horror was officially established in the 1950's.

Except for Henry Hull's at times over-the-top acting, I find this superior to THE WOLF MAN ('41) .. just imo

Hull sometimes overacts and you don't at times care for the character. This for me is the weakness of this film . Of course it has the good camera work of the early universal monster films plus a very good score. What's with the plane in the final shot? Terrible. First saw this on shock theater in the Los Angeles market on channel 5 in the late 50s early 60s. When shock theater ran Universal monster movies.
