Hi guys 👋 I actually lived in my car on and off during COVID in 2021~ I'm a large lady and was absolutely fine in a little VW Polo. I just reclined the passenger seat all the way back, raised my legs with a suitcase and cushions at the front, and Bob was my uncle! My only issues were a sore neck at times and I was always a little worried that some weirdo might be watching me and come and make trouble so I always parked in a public car park by a row of cottages and streetlight. But thanks to God, I was always fine! X So pleased I can look back on it fondly like you guys will be able to. ❤

Well done Izzy for always trying to look on the bright side and keep Tom’s spirits up in difficult situations , an indeed he does for you on other occasions. I think we can say one person can camp in a car but 2 is more difficult but much more of a laugh and shared experience which, as Tom says, you do learn from & will never forget 😅.

Suggestion for a solo run, sleeping properly in the Clio is to take front passenger seat out but leave rear seats in so u can still carry passengers, then get a roof box for bed parts/luggage. Also for solo runs, for safety u could wrap seat belt through door arm rest and plug it in, if that’s possible.

Montenegro is stunning. Especially around Kotor. Make sure you drive over the tops to get there. The view from the top is incredible.

Good job your both slim. Think my back would have gone trying to get in there. But I bet it would be ok if weather was better a cheap dome tent. Is tidy on a hatch back car. You can leave the boot up then once the back of car is under the tent but I think you might get your van out in the next few weeks

That was a real hoot guys. Like sleeping in a microwave! 😅 Suggestions for your forthcoming trips - Montenegro is stunning and the Bay of Kotor is very fjord like. You'll love it! Croatia should be on your itinerary too as it is a beautiful country from the Dalmatian Coast, or Kvarner Bay or breathtaking towns like Rovinj. Hilltop villages like Motovun are fab too. Closer to home, if you do go back to Scotland then the little island of Easdale in Argyll is wonderful. It's a two minute ferry ride from the gorgeous village of Ellenabeich (the Oyster Bar there has just reopened after a refurb & has vegan options). Easdale often appears on Scotland's best wild swimming spots as the old slate pits there, some 90m deep, flooded in a storm over 100+ years ago. It wiped out the slate industry but left behind the most magical wild swimming pools that we swam in last July and we're doing the same this summer 😊

I have spent a night in my car once on a "fall" camping trip when it got down to probably 20 degrees F (about -7 C), and I thought it might be warmer than in my three-season tent. Wrong. For sure, it was just me in there, and it was a small SUV rather than a euro hatchback. But I am with you -- no desire to repeat the experience. But as always with you guys, you made it look fun, even if it wasn't!

You could try to hinge the two plyboards together and just open them up when in position. a blow-up mattress and pillows might be easier with sleeping bags rather than a duvet, as they can be zipped into one big bag. Good idea on the roof storage box though.

Hmm why all of those items? in the 1960s a friend and I both about 6 ft tall went “ camping “ in England in a Mini. Sleeping in the front seats. Once checked by a policeman who was so surprised by how we were managing. But no problems.

Very funny video today. Myself and my girlfriend stealth camped in Dublin City Cork City and at The Giants Causeway we just rolled the seats back on our 18 year old Nissan Micra threw a duvet over us and attempted sleeping. At the Giants Causeway it was bloody freezing and grim but we got through it. You’s look like you had good craic. Looking forward to La Bamba content and hopefully meet-up if your in the south east of Ireland.
