The most stupidest and the most brilliant challenge I took up as a beginner. I learned this song (main riff) in 1 month as a complete newbie and I am proud of it( P.S I also have a “Big Thumb” like John so that helped a lot)

Always loved that song, but riff was too hard so I shied away lol. I do remember trying to learn it for some time though; it's so catchy. He writes some of the coolest riffs imho. Also great job with the practice! That's awesome to see and encouraging! Awesome job man.

Duuuude this is awesome! I'm trying to learn it too but the right hand technique is crazy xD How did you progress from day 2 to day 3 and adding the roll technique that he does? Any tips please?

Thanks man! What helped me was slowing it down as much as I needed. And I didn’t even fret any chords. I just focused on the right hand pattern, kept my wrist relaxed and played against the muted strings. Good luck! It’s a challenging song but so rewarding looking back at the progress.

X&Y Band Thanks for the reply man! Ahh okay I’ll give this a try! So are you slapping your thumb each time you play the bass string? I think the beat/slap part is the part I’m struggling with 🤣

@@El_Vincento yeah that was the hardest part for me. You slap the bass string every time and that percussive stuff is consistent the whole time. You’re basically mimicking a whole band
