Im kind of obsessed with the early chaos in this video and your goofy bubbly mood. Also your husband going a picking matching drinks is the cutest thing ever.
the crying laughing during the mental breakdown was the best part. and girl u did not disappoint us! you’re new and it’s understandable. i love how you’re being real with us and are able to tell us that you’re struggling
This actually gives me so much comfort watching how you get through books because I am the exact same with my adhd. I’ve stopped stressing about it now but earlier in the year I would get so frustrated that I couldn’t finish a single book in a day like a lot of book influencers, but that’s just not how my brain works! Sometimes I’m only able to read one chapter within a week and other times I can read 150 pages in a few hours, so seeing someone read in a similar way to me is so validating honestly
Omg I’m so glad to hear you can relate!!! I feel like I haven’t seen many other influencers either who like reading but can’t binge 5 books in a week all the time hahahaa
I don't have adhd but I could never finish a book in a day. Besides from the fact that I couldn't, I probably wouldn't want to either...I want to devour the story slowly haha
@@katgreer6113 honestly it’s a LOT I don’t know how some people read a book in 4 hours and it’ll be almost 400 pages long 😭 like how do you even absorb the words!
This was the most realistic reading vlog I’ve ever watched and for that, I’m going NO WHERE. You’re now stuck with this specific subscriber 🤎 Thank you for making all the readers who feel as though they can’t consider themselves apart of the book community because of the rate they read. I felt seen. Thank you.
I couldn’t agree more! Especially the realization, this is why I didn’t like the book as much because it doesn’t have the troupe that I like in my books. Don’t be so hard on yourself Hal, this was realistically how many of us are. ❤
Exactly what everyone else has been saying. It's not a competition with anyone else, reading is supposed to be fun! Sometimes I wonder if youtubers burn themselves out with reading because you're essentially reading for videos sometimes, just read when you want, how you want, and what you want. We love the honesty and rawness that you bring to your channel :)
I am so glad to hear this because that’s exactly what I didn’t want to happen and I can definitely see it leading there if reading just keeps stressing me out instead of being enjoyable like it’s supposed to be!!
i don’t know how it’s possible that you’re my fav booktuber already and i say that bc i watch so many booktubers but you’re just so comforting, i wish you’d upload everyday haha!! so much love hal!!🩷
I love the fact that you're honest ! You're the first booktuber that I follow that I relate too! If it makes you feel better I started books 2 of Harry potter 3 weeks ago and I'm on chapter 7
Girl, every time i see that you posted a new video I'm excited! I feel like you're content is very entertaining because of how realistic it is and people can relate to it. Like regarding you feeling like you've failed cuz of how long it took you to read one book, i know how that feels as someone who's a speed reader. I can read through a novel in one night like it's nothing, and then there are books that take me a month to get through and I'll feel like I failed at my own expectations. I've learned now that I actually get way more enjoyment when i read at a slower pace, even with books ik i can breeze through easily. I don't want you to feel pressured by your own or others expectations to the point where it's unenjoyable for you. Especially since you're such a new book reader! Reading is all about the experience you have with the book 😊 Also very excited that you're finally reading the Harry Potter series!!!
this was the most relatable 24 hour reading vlog ever. as someone with adhd who loves reading i felt so seen in this video. the amount of times you got distracted by the little things is exactly what i do every day
It it honestly so so comforting to know that you relate to this!!! I didn’t really realize there was so many people that also love to read but struggle to focus lol
I started re-reading Harry Potter in early September and just finished the 2nd book. The books will pick up if you stick with it. 😃 Something I found that works for me is to listen to the audio version while I follow along because on my own I am a slow reader and I struggle to stay focused lol
@HalJones oh my god, please do! The one Stephen Fry is narrating is amazing! Audiobooks help so much with the focus, and also I would swap a film on a playlist with ambient music without words (hp themed ofc)
I love how real you are right now, it took me 3 weeks to read the first and second book 👀 I’ve also been recently diagnosed with dyslexia and for my entire life I thought books were the devil because I struggled (and also lacked the attention span)… but the thing is, I love buying books and recently started to love reading again. I just remind myself that I gotta read at my own pace, that way it’s enjoyable for me instead of trying to force every word into my brain in under 3 hours and cry lmao 😂 thank you for being so honest and real, I love seeing someone else who isn’t a fast reader, it makes me feel less alone ❤ make reading enjoyable for you, even if that means you get through the Harry Potter series in 6 months like me hahaha, at least you can finish them and think “ok, that was fun” 😁
Girl... I spend at least 3 days to 2 weeks to read one book. It's fine! I feel like a lot of booktubers lie about how much they get read. ❤ Thanks for being real! P.S. HP on audio is amazing!!
11:45 Me with my adhd relating SO HARD to your thought processes. I cannot have videos on if I’m reading because I’ll watch them instead, and as much as I would love to listen to playlists related to books I simply cannot listen to anything with lyrics because then I can’t focus on the words on my book. I would be so bad at this challenge because I can only really read in 5-10 minute blocks and then my brain just gravitates towards something else so I really get it. ALSO it is definitely your adhd that’s the reason you could drink an energy drink and then go straight to sleep lmaooo. For a lot of people the caffeine and energy can actually make you more tired and sleepy. I’ve never had an energy drink but for me coffee does nothing to give an energy boost so I’m almost certain that’s why you weren’t energised by it hahah
LOL sometimes it’s literally impossible to get through a sentence without getting distracted and it’s so frustrating!!! ALSO I had no idea this was an adhd thing?!!! That’s crazy!!!
These videos are so reliatable!! Especially the ending, like that’s how it is with my boyfriend too! Me being overdramatic and overwhelemed and him being just like „babe, it’s okay go to sleep”
Hal, don’t compare yourself to others because you’re authentic personality and real self is what viewers love! you can read one page and I’m happy! keep going mama 🤎
im glad this vlog was v honest bc i feel so stressed when i cant finish books back to back in a day like the booktubers i watch esp w/ a job so i don't get home until v v v late and i also have adhd so i'm just exhausted by the time i'm back - i'm doing this challenge too rn and i'm currently on prisoner of Azkaban so i' v excited to continue alongside this vlog
My 2 tips which helped me get through the challenge w/ ADHD was: 1. Not doing a formal 24 hour challenge but just pausing and unpausing when I was actually reading, although usually I am a very slow reader because I like to fully imagine the scenes and google a lot of questions I have during it as I usually deep dive research when I'm reading. That helps with not feeling tired/stressed out, I still made an effort to read consistently so when I read the first 2 books it was an all day activity minus eating. 2. I use little sticky tabs to split the book which is a LIFESAVERRR, I'm not into annotating or anything, but it's super good for ADHD management because you get a lil bit of dopamine each time you reach a sticky tab and you don't feel as daunted by the amount of pages left to finish the book because even if you're enjoying it I feel like that looming thought makes me want to rush through it before my adhd is like nope i quit lets read another book So for the the philosopher's stone, it was around ~300 pages, so I'd tab it into 3: 100 pages, 200 pages, 300 pages (but to the nearest new chapter e.g. pg 109 or whatever) Then I'd try to make it my goal to read upto the first sticky note in that day, so 100 pages, which felt like a lot considering I used to only read like a chapter or two a day Sometimes you feel super into it and have lots of time so you're like...okay, i'll try reading to the second sticky tab and if i don't manage it, it's fine because i already reached my goal of 100 pages today~ And ofc if you don't make the 100 page mark that's fine too you can just continue next time but you can SEE the end goal is just 100 pages and not the whole book
@@awawa5594 thank you SO MUCH for these tips!!! I think I might have to try out adding tabs to motivate me to finish sections!! That is such a good idea?!
girl don't force urself to read if you dont feel like it and if ur not liking the book u can dnf it because ur supposed to be having fun with this ! dont worry about dissapointing us or anything do what you feel comfortable with + ive been binging ur videos instead of studying for my test i just love them and ur relationship with ur husband is like the cutest thing everrrrrr i also love how you show that being a mom isnt a always a bad thing you can still make time for yourself and read and just be cute !!
honestly girl you being honest about your struggles just made me so much more enticed to watch your videos in the future. thank you for being real with us and i can’t wait to watch more videos of yours!
Great to see you back in another video. I am reading Harry Potter for the first time ever next month, I definitely won’t be doing it in 24 hours but good luck on this one xx
Girl it made me feel so sad when you were upset over how much you read. Don’t sweat it, everyone reads at different paces and that’s okay. I also feel as though the more you read the quicker you get. If you’re reading a book that you’re not really in to it will likely take you a while as you aren’t engaged. I know for me fantasy is not my vibe at all I tried reading ACOTAR and let me tell you, it took me HOURS to get through once chapter because I hated what I was reading 💀 (ACOTAR fans don’t come for me pls). Short story long, don’t be hard on yourself girl, you got this 🩷
ACOTAR is a TERRIBLE book for beginner fantasy readers. It just jumps right in. Try Fourth Wing instead (I don't even like that book, but it's an easy read)
Girl I would listen to you talk about anything and see you and sweet family really is heartwarming.reading and books are fun don't add stress to it please enjooy❤
@@HalJones I cannot wait for your next video girl, You starting this channel and pushing yourself to be better is not only beautiful but like every girls dream, And with dedication I know you will make it big! your last video was like 50k views!!! Like what the heck? And I just also hope that in the mist of starting this channel and doing this new hobby (like i am starting to read, like an old lady ) you will find the genres you love the most and you can make strong content on them 💗💗💗💗
The most wholesome and realistic reading vlog. I always feel like it takes me so long to read books and then see you tubers just chow down the same book in like an hour. Keep up the realistic expectations it makes the video more enjoyable ❤️
Omg Hal!!! Do not talk about yourself like that! If anything it’s refreshing seeing someone struggle through a 24hr reading vlog. You shouldn’t be setting such high expectations for the way YOU read. It should always be at your pace and however you want. Also you’re one of my fave booktubers and I would NEVER leave! I was legit laughing throughout the whole video. Keep up the great content and please don’t beat yourself up over it. You’re doing GREAT! ❤ sending posi vibes your way! 🫶
This is by far one of the best book channels i’ve seen. She is very realistic, fun, cheerful, and I personally feel like the fact that she just started getting into reading just makes it all better. I’m never gonna stop watching her videos let me tell you that. I already love you girl and will be waiting your new videos forever. Have fun reading bestie❤❤❤
Hi HAL!!! Sending you lots of love!! I think the day that you did this just wasn't your day and that is totally okay bby! I'm so excited for your reading journey! I am also starting out reading and sometimes I get intimidated by books and reading and I am sure it is very hard to focus on reading with ADHD! I absolutely commend you for uploading this!! I'm definetly going to continue staying subscribed to the channel as you are so fun, relatable, and kind! Can't wait to see what you do next! Don't be so hard on yourself! Sending you lots of luvs!!!
This was probably the most realistic reading vlog I have seen. Not everyone can actually sit and read for 24 hours straight. I love the realism of this and you. I'm a mom of a one year old. I would love to sit and read more but I have to take care of my son. I feel disappointed sometimes when I can't read as much as the book girlie. I am thankful that you posted this. It makes me feel better.
I am so glad you can relate to this, honestly that’s why I decided to still upload it!! Sometimes it’s possible to read books fast and get a lot read but sometimes it just doesn’t go that way!! 🫶🏼
I love how real this is. It took me MONTHS just to read one book. It's good that you're being real. A lot of the girlies are fast readers and don't retain it all. Or they're just used to reading. You're a new reader! Give yourself some leeway. They also aren't all married, mothers, etc. You have a lot going on in your life that could distract you plus the adhd. You will get into the "groove" of reading. Girl I would watch many of these videos from you even if you're just reading one book it's still so entertaining and calming. You do you, don't compare, read at your own pace.
Thank you so much for this (,: I always forget how different my life looks than a lot of other booktubers and how like you said there’s a lot of different things here to distract me LOL I’m trying to learn not to set my own expectations for myself so high and to not compare my own reading to others, especiallyyy because I just got into reading (: 🫶🏼
giiiiirl, you just won a subscribe for me just because of the last part of your video. I feel you. I am on bookstagram for almost 3 years and tbh I can't keep up with everything ( posts/followers/trends/new releases, etc ). I've read 54 books this year and I watch people to monthly wrap-ups with 30 books LOL. Do not feel frustrated. It doesn't matter if you are a slow reader or a fast reader, what's important is for you to enjoy that time. My advise would be to dnf the books you do not like. If you feel like it in the future to go back to them ( because now you know what that book is about/vibe of the book, etc ) you can do it. Don't push yourself. You are a reader if you read 2 books a month or if you read 30. Everyone has their own pace. I used to be a fast reader, but after an 18 month reading slump I'm such a slow reader it hurts :))), but I'm doing my best to enjoy my reading time and that's it. I'll leave you now cuz I need to go watch your next video.
Omg right!!! It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out but something good to try to remember is that it’s more interesting to just be yourself and go at your own pace instead of every content creator being exactly the same!!! So it’s a positive (: 🤍 you got this!! 🫶🏼
I AM LIVING FOR YOUR CHANNEL VIBES! I've been buying the illustrated versions and thrift hunting for the old hardcover versions so I can live my childhood nostalgia! I have book 7 so far and all of the illustrated ones released.
don’t put pressure on yourself!! read at whatever pace feels right to you and enjoy it! thats what reading is for. you could post a video where you read only one page and i would enjoy it all the same. i only came across your channel tonight and i already love you!! you’ve made my night feel so cosy and safe ♥️
I also have adhd and I had the same reaction to reading the first book last month. It took me a long time to get through the first book and I kept getting distracted. I personally think it’s because we both have never read the books but have seen the movie a lot. For the first two books they are so similair to the movies it’s not as stimulating to read because you know exactly what is going to happen. For me reading prisoner of Azkaban is when it got more interesting because there were secrets and a lot more moments that weren’t in the movie that made it easier and more fun to read. I’m currently reading order of the phoenix. I would love to see more videos of you reading the others books too!
ADHD is the real struggle. Lol I've definitely heard some people with ADHD say that things that should normally wake you up, like energy drinks/sodas/coffee etc can have kind of the opposite effect on people with ADHD? And I relate to that. I don't drink energy drinks, but cokes do absolutely nothing to help me stay awake. I would ABSOLUTELY want to be part of a book club with you. Lol downloading Fable rn Also, I appreciate your honesty. You are so real for this lol. I definitely could not read for 24 hours straight. I can hardly read for longer than like 5 hours. And if it makes you feel better, it took me YEARS to finish the HP series. I had to be in a very specific mood to read it, or it had to be like Christmas break or something. All in all, I'M PROUD OF YOU HAL! You did a great job!
Omg this was so chaotic in a funny realistic anxiety watching kind of way. Don’t be hard on yourself. Reading is meant to be for you and fun. It’s not a competition. Plus people lie a lot in their videos. So your honestly is refreshing
dont worry, ive been stuck on 2 books for 3 months im not sure why because i used to be able to read 8-10 books a month. im right there with ya girl!! dont give up, i love your videos and your vibes we would never be dissatisfied with how much your comfortable with reading🩶🩶🩶
hi!! i’m also a very new book reader (and def tell others i’m a book girlie even though i just started LOL) but i just discovered your yt channel and girlllll i am in love with your vibe!!! i love you content on how real this journey has been for you💖💖
omg you are so realistic with your vlogs it’s hilarious asw cause I do the exact same thing😭🤣 ur literally my fav book youtuber cus just watching ur vids are so entertaining and not like any other RU-vid vids I’ve watched. and omg I find it so cute and wholesome that you reply to every comment so detailed🥺🥺love ur channel smmm🤍
I just started reading again to and I feel the same ways you do. I get easily distracted and sometimes I fly through books, other times I can barely get through it even when I think the book is good. Then I wonder if I’m going through a slump but just like you I can’t tell, and I also get upset with myself feeling like I’m in a slump when I just started reading again. Thanks for sharing and being honest because it made me feel less alone! Im also unmedicated adhd😭 I think all the expectations of ourselves is what pushes us away. I love your channel and I feel like I’m also going through this new reader journey with you🥰
That’s actually crazy how similar our experience was?! And thank you too for commenting, it also makes me feel less alone too (,: I definitely set way too high of expectations for myself all the time lol I really need to try not to do that in the future 🤦🏽♀️😅
Watched the whole video now. I will never leave! This is the most relatable video I’ve ever seen in my entire life, when it comes to reading. So I am so grateful that you shared it. I had an awesome time watching you!❤️
I don’t mean this in a creepy way but gurl I adore you. You’re so REAL and honest, it’s honestly a breath of fresh air. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your content. But please, don’t worry about how long it takes you to read/finish a book. As long as you’re enjoying it, that’s all that really matters in the end ❤️
Ok this video randomly came up on my time line but I watched and omg girl you are the cutest. Please don’t ever feel like your disappointing is one book in 11 hours is not bad at all. The reality is when you force yourself this is what happens. And Harry Potter needs to be enjoyed at your own pace. Literally subbed fret this video and thank you for being so honest. Can’t wait to see future content. Have a great day love from Ireland
Thank you so much 🥹🫶🏼 I definitely feel so much better after realizing that this is normal and fine hahaha (also HI!! How cool that you’re watching all the way from Ireland?! 🩷)
Hey Hals! I have been watching you for the past few weeks and can't get enough of your videos. Youre pure and very relatable. The same thoughts come into my head when it takes me so long to finish a book! Thank you for making me feel that I am not alone!
Failure is only an opportunity to try again. You've got this! There are weekends where I finish 3 books and months that I don't read anything. 🤷♀️ It is the life we choose, but the pressure of reading makes it a task instead of a hobby. Don't give up.
Awe, you’re so sweet. This video was actually so funny lol. I’m so glad you decided to be honest and upload the video. It’s so important to be authentic and relatable. Especially online! Sometimes reading certain books can go like this lol
Honestly, this is the most realistic 24 hour reading blog I’ve ever seen. I too feel down in the dumps when I can’t read a book super fast, sometimes it takes me a whole month to read some books and that’s cause I love them! It’s okay to read slowly and actually enjoy what you are reading! Also, the first Harry Potter book is so boring lol. It takes till like book 3 to really get into it.
Don't feel bad about what didn't work out. If you have ADHD it becomes more difficult to concentrate. What works for me is setting smaller goals and conquering each little challenge in my time. And respect the fact that I will have difficulty concentrating and that it is part of the condition I was born with. Blaming yourself and feeling bad is natural for those with ADHD, but it doesn't mean it needs to be a rule. Take a deep breath and only do what makes sense, without seeing your challenges as obligations. Good luck on your journey as a reader. I loved your channel. Greetings from Brazil.
I’m so happy to see that it didn’t take you 30 minutes to read 7 books, I love how real you are ❤ it makes me realise that it’s okay not to read a book as quick as other people
Yes!!! I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to read every book super fast but I’m also learning that some books will be faster than others and that’s fine I just should be focused on enjoying the book 🥰🤍
Hey Hal! I’m a new Subscriber, I just found your channel and I loved this vid sm! You said you’re scared people won’t want to follow you bc of you having a difficult time finishing this book. Honestly though I really appreciate the authenticity! It’s also really relatable! I love watching all my book girlies on RU-vid but I NEVER read as fast as them. Sometimes it’s hard because you want to get a lot of books under your belt, and I understand it’s different if you create book content, but just don’t be discouraged! For me, the main “requirement” for me to follow someone’s reading journey is them having a funny and relatable personality. Someone who’s down to earth who I feel like I resonate with and who most people can connect to. It’s not about how many books they can read in a month/year. I already know you’re gonna be one of my favs! Can’t wait to follow your reading journey and youtube journey! Don’t be too intimidated! You’re doing amazing already! ❤️🫶
🥹🫶🏼 thank you so much for this…. It’s so reassuring to know that I don’t have to worry about how fats or slow I’m reading (,: definitely going to have to stop comparing myself to other book influencers!! 🤍🤍
omg I have this same set and i’m so glad i’ve never gotten rid of them. i’m 24 now and I got them when I was around 7 ! gonna do this once I get my kindle and also find my physical books
I discovered your channel yesterday, and I'm currently watching all your videos because it's everything I like! I love books content, I love the way you edit, and how funny you are! I also struggle with anxiety, so watching your videos makes me feel less alone when it comes to overthinking the little things. By the way, the clips you took at the bookshop in the "becoming a reader" video, that was super brave and I felt happy and proud that you did (I hope I don't sound weird lol) As many said in this comment section, 24 hours challenges are hard and getting distracted happens to everyone. Don't be too hard on yourself! You're doing great! 💖
Omg not weird at all!! Honestly you commenting this also makes me feel less alone (: 🫶🏼 I’m so glad and thankful you found my channel and have been liking the videos so far 🥹🤍
also don't be so hard on yourself! i will watch whatever you upload because you put the time and effort into it. And i'm so proud that you tried💗also i feel like i really relate to you bc when i see someone who read a book in 3 hours and i'm like what am i doing wrong? but i realized that everyone reads at their own pace! and if someone says something abt how "slow" you're reading they aren't special for reading any faster🤷♀
Don't be so hard on yourself. This video was so good! it was one of my favorite 24hr reading challenge. The video had a lot to offer more than just reading updates and it gave it a unique feel. Please keep posting your authentic self. 🙂
Hal’s Book Pals! A book club would be fun. I am total opposite. I get so invested in the book my kids (30&31!) say they can never get me to answer them unless they say VIOLET really loud! Lol As much as I’m a paperback person I prefer to read on my kindle and then if I love the book I buy a physical copy for my collection. Don’t beat yourself up. Read for fun and at your own pace. Last year I read 320 books and this year is almost over and I’ve only read 196. Everyone is different and our own time changes. Your videos are funny and real. I love that you’re a new reader and sharing your vlogs may inspire others to start reading! And if you need romance in your books to stay interested that’s fine! I strictly read MM romance or I can’t get interested. We’re all different :) Fun video!
Thank you sm, this was a much needed reminder!!! I am also the same way where I can get sucked in LOL but I just need to remember that everyday and every book will be different (,:
Energy drinks are a very difficult thing! In study’s with people who have adhd it was seen that a lot of people with adhd have the adverse affect with caffeine where it actually makes them tired or does nothing at all. It’s kind of crazy but it can also likely be caused by a lot of other things. It’s not your fault for being tired if it was just your body :) don’t get discouraged by reading by watching to meet a “standard” enjoy it instead :D
Yes!! I have definitely been learning not to put so much pressure on myself bc reading is supposed to be fun!! ALSO isn’t that so crazy about energy drinks?!
Omg it bothered me so much drinking the energy drinks hot. 😩 But this videos and the rest of your channel I am lovinggg. Everyone here just saying the truth of how your realness makes this genuine and the clips here and there of just you and the fam is so cuteeee! I’m invested in this channel and your journey of reading books!
Girl this is so realistic. I don’t read all that fast I would be exactly where you are and I’ve wanted to make content but felt the pressure of everyone else and their 20 books read a month and reading blogs reading like ten books keep it up. Love the content you are sharing and that it is realistic and makes slow reader like me feel like I’m ok. Reading is for fun enjoy your time and share your content ❤
Hal you really shouldn’t be so hard on your self! I think Harry Potter is a little hard to get into when your an adult, because it’s a children’s book not YA. But if you love the universe then I’m sure you’ll get into the grove. Just take your time and remember it’s okay to put something down that you’re not in the mood for.❤️
We will never be disappointed in you! This was an extremely realistic reading vlog and honestly it made me feel better about not always meeting the goals I set myself because I put myself under ridiculous pressure when it comes to reading. Also when it comes to my channel as well, I’m seriously considering stepping away from it because I feel like I keep disappointing my viewers by promising videos all the time and then my chronic illness hits and I can’t post said video. I really appreciate your honestly and we will all continue to support you, I for one am not going anywhere ❤❤ P.S. reading while you have ADHD!? That’s badass! My husband has ADHD and so do I but at a lower level and he really struggles. I’m really proud of you for finding something that makes you so happy and for taking it at your own pace (I don’tvv mean this in a condescending way at all, I just know what it’s like to experience these struggles!) ❤
Omg not even condescending at all!!! I didn’t really realize how many other people there are who also love reading but have a complete different experience with it because of adhd and honestly I’m so glad I shared that because it feels so nice to know I’m not alone!!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
please dont compare yourself to other booktubers who have read hundreds of books over the course of many years! the ability to concentrate and read quicker will come with time. i appreciate your honest but you need to be kinder to yourself. it seems like a lot of people in the comments are connecting with you because theyre also new to reading. im glad youve kept up with the videos and im excited to follow along your booktube journey :)
I don't know if i'm right but the sorcerer's stone is the american version and the philosophers stone is the original english version😅 so the phrases are a bit different than the original book and the movie's😊😬
Oh this is so not just a you problem!! I am a huge harry potter fan, I went through a phase as a kid of literally just reading the Harry Potter books back to back and 2 years ago I decided to reread them all again and I have JUST started the last book..... 2 years later😂 It took me 2 years to read the first 3 books and I've read the last 4 in like 2 weeks😂 (still not up to 9yo me's standard but it's getting there)
It’s okay to not be able to deal with it sorry I’m only just commenting on this I haven’t been commenting on videos recently and I forgot to comment on this but it’s fine your such an amazing booktuber I absolutely adore your videos I’ve been watching them every day lol
This is my first video of yours i see - i loved it! I hope you're feeling better - new subscriber ! I loved your authenticity - THIS is what booktube needs -less pressuring videos and realistic timelines.
Didn't finished yet the video, but I have a few things to recommend. Energy drinks usually do not go well with ADHD, it calms us, at least for me an a few other people I know. Try to read without the movie in the back, your brain will want to focus on different things at the same time and you won't end up enjoying the book. Other thing is, lights. You need more light. Harry Potter is and incredible series and I would recommend taking it easy. If you read it all at once, in my opinion you won't be able to feel the growth on each character.
I have not been diagnosed, but I think I have adhd as well. The more caffeine we get the more sleepy we get sometimes. It was difficult for me to get into the Harry Potter books at first also. Took me until I was in my 30s to read the entire series. After that I started to like the books and now I often reread them.
Girl i'm in the exact same boat. I grew up on the movies and was READY to finally read the books and get to Goblet of Fire and get all the juicy details that the movies left out. HOWEVER, it's difficult to read and pay attention to children's books when you already know the story. And I think we are very similar in the way that we both like to go into books as blindly as possible, so how can you do that when, like me, you rewatch the movies every month. 😅 Chris Colombus also did a wonderful job at capturing the ambiance of the first book, so you aren't getting that much of a new experience. I just decided to put down Harry Potter for the time being because it was putting me in a slump. I picked up Fourh Wing and was addicted for five days. It totally got me out of my slump. Iron Flame is coming out in a few days and I know it's going to be just as addictive. Don't beat yourself up. And keep trying new things. You got this!
Okay I don’t know why I didn’t even think about the fact that I loveee going into books blind but with Harry Potter I know every feeling like if the movies LOL like duh no wonder I was bored hahaha also the fact that as I was reading Harry Potter I swearrr I was just eyeing fourth wing in my shelf wishing I was reading that 😂😂
Honestly if you decide to go on with the series - i'm gonna be so happy! It is my favourite series of all times. I don't care how many hours you are spending on reading one book - we here don't feel the time as you do -just go on in your comfortable pace. Speed reading is so overrated! One book of the Harry Potter series a month sounds just perfect! Sending u all the love and support
Thank you so much!! I honestly really do still want to read the rest of the series!! But I do think I will go into the next book with my expectation being just reading the one book LOL 🫶🏼
