You know this the reason non - cubers think you must be genius to solve a cube. This is what they think we do for 3x3

3x3 is definitely harder than the polaris cube, for it you just solve a skewb (which is easy) and then just put in the extra pieces just intuitively, for 3x3, you need to memorize algs

This polaris cube feels like a "4x4 skweb" if that makes sense. You did it backwards, but it was a similar idea to trying to solve a 4x4 by reduction to a 3x3. Surprised you haven't hit a parity case - if those even exist

I’ve had one for a few years now and I’m pretty sure there is no possible parity. Because the corners can turn independently it removes a lot of the skewb limitations and adds a lot of degrees of freedom.

Now, after about three hours attempting to solve the cube, I finally solved it. Solving this cube with no help was something very satisfying, and I recommend it to pretty much any speedcuber: get a random weird puzzle and solve it yourself - it's a hell of an experience. Detail: I've never solved a skewb in my life, so that meant I had to figure it out too, which made it even harder.

After some years I finally got back to solving the DianSheng Shield, and it's power to enrage me is intact. That's the reason I would love seeing you solve it in this series.

I recently got a Polaris Cube myself (and solved it shortly afterwards), so now I can watch this video! If you take apart a skewb, you'll notice that the core is attached to 4 of the corners, and with a little bit of thought, it's easy to see why - if you 4 corners such that no two corners share an edge, then whenever you make a turn of the skewb, one corner will be on one half (with that half rotating around it), and the other three corners will stay still on the other half. With the Polaris Cube, the same thing is true for its corners, except those little edge pieces can be moved between those corners - but if you pay attention, you can see that the edges will always stay within one set of four corners, meaning you've got two completely separate sets of edges that you can solve independently - so it's no wonder that when you solved three corners out of one set, you accidentally solved the fourth (there were only three options for how that fourth corner could be, and you also dealt with one of the other options - the three-cycle).
