It's all I'm waiting for. The viewership for her first game back is going to be insane. The crowd will go crazy before the game begins. The fans are going to make it obvious that she is the face of basketball today. EVERYone knows that the committee that kept her off the team made a mistake, and I mean everyone on the committee knows, but with her first game back, they are going to get an idea of just how stupid they were.

I say "tried" because I don't have a television or subscriptions to sports channels, but I got a temporary subscription to watch the All Star vs. USA game, and it didn't disappoint. Wow!

its funny because Stewie ( Breanna Stewart ) made the Olympic team her rookie season, only because Geno ( her college Head coach ) was the HC for the team that season. But all the long time WNBA Gate keeping fans love to downplay that. They wanted to keep Caitlin off for very ego centric reasons ( Reeves and Rizzotti can say whatever they want ). Ok then... but you can't turn around and bitch about marketing and NBC not showing or covering our games enough and all the stuff im starting to see. I am a Caitlin Clark fan. She is the only reason why I learned about the WNBA. And I would have watched the USA team even if she were not there. But I am boycotting the Olympics because of the Opening Ceremony disrespect of Jesus Christ.
I never cared to watch a WNBA game before this year. But following the success of CC in her senior year of college I became a fan of her game. I now have the Fever marked as one of my favorite teams on my sports app so anytime they have a game coming up I’m informed. It’s super sad that the powers to be felt it was best to leave her off the team to avoid the hatred from the other jealous players and dumb fans. But I actually understood because of how much people only wanted to see CC. And now the point is proven that without CC the WNBA is trash.

I have watched maybe 30 minutes of entire Olympics and perhaps 1 of basketball. I don’t know why. I used to watch every single day when teen all the way into my 30s. Now I literally don’t care., just not interested. Now if cc was there I would have watched.

Well said. There is something Jordanesque about her. She brings a unique flair to the game plus she is personable and recognizes that a fan’s 10 second interaction with her maybe the only one they ever have. And she makes an effort to make that memorable. Doesn’t criticize anyone publicly.

According to ESPN, the US vs Nigeria had the highest quarter final attendance but when I watched the highlights of France vs Germany, it looked like there were more people on that game and the cheers were louder. Am I missing something here?

Caitlin Clark own the NCAA scoring record for both mens and women's..... that should have qualified for it right here - even if they just sat her on the bench - at least she gets the experience for the next olympics. WNBA just failed to capitalize on her popularity. She’s a headline. Buyers are always attracted by the magazine cover, before they even read the content. They missed the bus because of their arrogance. If you’re winning but not selling, you will not get anywhere. And the industry depends heavily on the fans.

As a lifetime Dallas Cowboy fan from Dallas my favorite team to watch is Indiana Fever. If women’s team didn’t have the clear number one player in the world the Americans would’ve lost this game by 15-20 points. Please no bouncing around like you are something in next couple weeks.
The old dinosaurs who played in the WNBA were nostalgic for one more series of games that NOBODY was watching with 1/2 filled arenas by leaving CC off the roster..they don’t want people watching and they got what they wanted.
I'm in Paris for the Games and would not even think of paying for a pricey ticket to watch a game. To be fair, you have to admit, that a game between Nigeria and the U.S. is NOT likely to have a whole lot of local fans coming to them. But they did have the game up on a big screen over in front of the town hall where there is a big Olympic gathering site. I watched part of the second half. It was just BORING. This old guard team is slow and BORING. One main reason they were so far ahead is that Nigeria just couldn't get the ball into the basket. They'd miss, catch the rebound, miss again, get the rebound again, and miss again. Pfffft. And, in the 4th quarter, Nigeria beat the U.S. team by double digits anyway. The old guard WNBA is junk ball, not basketball. I don't care how many commentators/specialists talk about how great some of the players are. When I watch teams with first and second year players, and rookies like Clark, Brink, Reese...it's exciting. It's fun. When I watch these old thugs playing their STUPID, oh, sorry, I mean their "physical" game---well, it's just crap. I only put up with watching the old WNBA because it is the only way I can watch the NEW WNBA.
Their lowest attended game was 17k at the end of the first night in a late night game almost an hour and a half away from Paris. U thought we would get more authentic sports coverage than this.

At the time of the selection, I didn't think and still don't think she is 1 of the best 12 players in the league, but that is very subjective. If my main concern was viewership, then CC and AR would have been on the team. Just curious, does the corruption surrounding DJT bother you? If I remember correctly, 8-10 of his inner circle are felons, and please just answer the question. And just because you don't agree with the selection process shouldn't mean you root against your country.

That is how the game is played and you know that. At the time of the selection CC's and DT's numbers were comparable, and experience may have given DT the edge. You can blame it on whatever you want. I can watch basketball anytime. Olympics have lots of events you don't normally see . That's the draw for me . There plenty of quality sports in the games other than the marquee sports. Way too woke and commercialized now which hurts viewing also.

BUT if Caitlin was playing, then I would have MADE time to watch. This not only applies to regular TV but RU-vid as well. I haven't even watched a single Olympic basketball highlight.

Comparing Clark to Curry is basketball ignorance! Clark is shooting under 40% from the field and under 33% from 3. Curry is shooting 42.6% from 3. She is a good passer and sometimes a reckless one, but she's closer to Jimmer (the hype) Ferdete than Curry.
I live in Iowa City and watched approx 20 CaitlinClark #22 games live over her career. I had never watched 1 second of WNBA prior to this year. That being said, its a difficult product to digest with or without CaitlinClark #22
I would’ve loved to watch Caitlin but I’m an American and wanted to watch the Women’s Team. But NBC never showed the American Women’s Team. However they showed hours of Diving highlighting CHINESE divers. Is NBC owned by the Chinese?

The WNBA All Stars, (The Rejects) beat them 117 to 109; THEY are the best 12 female players in the world! I don't think most people are boycotting because they never got much support before this. I turned on the game yesterday versus Nigeria yesterday & literally there was no interesting plays not. Not even the announcers sounded interested in the game.

CC’s inclusion on TeamUSA could very well have overcome my disgust for the disrespectful Taurasi, the two muggers Griner and Carter, and the multiple-MVP and multiple All-Star but dour Stewart all of whom failed to elevate the W. and even fought for multiple years to keep it an insular, unscrutinized, and exclusive club which is why they beat up on Clark.
