The poem that Krishnaswami quotes, at the end of the segment, around 22:05, is a poem by Thayumanavar. This is part of a selection of Thyaumanavar songs under 'Tejo Mayanadam'. He concludes his talk with this poem that Bhagavan alone remained in this very high state. The speciality of these series of poems is that Thayumanavar composed each line of this poem with 12 words - note the 4-2-4-2 pattern that will make a single line. Also, note the rhythm of the first words of each line - sheer magic! I am not a native Tamil speaker but picked up enough from my parents who were both fluent in several languages. With that said, here is my attempt at describing the KEY moments of this video with timestamps: The last moments of Bhagavan are eloquently described. You can watch Krishnaswami’s clear actions at these points. I have never seen this mentioned in such direct terms elsewhere and was quite stunned when I first watched it. (Apologies for any errors - would appreciate your corrections, thoughts or comments). At 19:41 Krishnaswami says: He never had identification with the body. He had told me this long ago - Any way I die, don’t think of his body, the body is not him. Why would he suddenly get identify with it at the end? (Note the second part is in third person, as narrated by K, and ascribed to Bhagavan). Krishnaswami then continues: Although Bhagavan was in great physical difficulty, for about thirty minutes prior, the long pillow that was behind him was cast away, and he sat up straight, with his back erect (demonstrated at 20:10). Then the soul (jiva) escaped to the heavens (20:11). I (Krishnaswami) was holding the back of his head and watching his face lest it fall down. Subramaniam was standing close by. Krishnaswami then demonstrates how Bhagavan’s mouth exhaled its last breath as the jiva left the body (20:23). The face fell, and he was gone. Krishnaswami does a beautiful and respectful Namaskar while thinking about this moment (20:31). We have read accounts of many sages attaining samadhi, but tell me where else you have heard it described so clearly? Krishnaswami, also a great soul, was truly blessed indeed to be with the Master as a trusted aide for a long time, and sit by his side as he left the body. It was a wonderful video about a wonderful person.We all should learn the Guru bhakti he has. But as he said Bhagwan is with all of us, otherwise we would not have watched this video....Om Arunachala.
His description about Bhagavan's last hours was emotional. But one thing is disturbing. Having lived with a realised being, who constantly reminded us that we're not the body, people still discriminated on the basis of caste, even with the handling of Bhagavan's body.
Where there is light there is darkness. Great ones never discriminate because there is nothing to discriminate. Yet so petty is human nature that such discriminations take place. I bow low down to Krishnaswamy in respect to his service to Bhagavan.
