From the 1983 Atlantic Records release, "Pump The Nation". Featuring vocalist Cindy Mizelle, this group was majorly underrated. But, this single was very popular among Dallas DJ's back in the day! Enjoy, everyone.
I remember the days when Glendale Park was the hangout place in Oak Cliff on Sundays. Cars and trucks lined up and down Ledbetter while hundreds of people socialized and picnicked with no drama. Dont know why Dallas/Ft.Worth has connected with this song so strongly but its definitely not a bad choice. Love it
if i could, I would make this the "Dallas/Ft.Worth National Anthem" because of all the love this groove gets from the area. Much love to Oak Cliff, the Grove, Duncanville, Cedar Hill and the Red Bird area, which is an entity all its own..........love this song
DFW stand up!... All you Ushay fans out there next time you have a drink, be sure sure to pour out some for our nigga Ushay... He made this jam a "Classic"... Starz, Shamrock, Twilight, City Lights, RJ's, Gi Gi's, 220, Camp Wisdom Car Wash, Red Bird Mall... Thank you Ushay for the memorys R.I.P. nuff respect.
Wow, it's very obvious that this song gets some awesome play in the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex. It's well represented from the comments of all the DFW citizens. Much love all...........
This song puts me back in a time that wasn't perfect but was a lot less volatile; a little simpler. I remember the local radio stations K104 Tom Joyner and KKDA Soul 73 Willis Johnson and Russ Parr playing the crap out of this song. Somebody said it was as if it was Dallas' anthem lol
Real Dallas talk. You have to be from Dallas to know about Willis Johnson. As a kid I heard this song all the time going and coming from school. Back when radio really played good music.
I was about 7 years old when this song came out. I'm from Dallas, TX. Everyone loved this song. It reminds me of simpler times and innocence. Thanks RU-vid.
Club Countach in Garland was the first place I heard this song. Dr Rock was acking a fool and then dropped this one. Grabbed the first girl near me and grinded my way through it. :-) Tha memories.
I was born in Terrell, but raised in (West) Dallas projects. This was one of my favorite songs. Sexy and innocent. Tom Joyner played this nonstop and The Quiet Storm as well. Brings back memories!!
I remember Ushay & DJRock they really knew how to rock the radio back in the day I been searching for this song for over 30yrs Wow! I'm in love with a beautiful woman & I just dedicated this song to her
I cry every time I hear this song meet my husband 1983 and we slow dance he Jst be singing. Lord those were the good old days (rip) Edwin love u forever.
I love this song. Brought tears to my eyes. The words are incredible and has meaning behind them. They don't like music like this anymore. Feeling, passion, and making love music. Whatever happen to music like this???
Cindy Mizelle is the lady singing the song. She was born in Englewood New Jersey and currently living in Norwood, NJ.... unfortunately she or this song has no direct connection to Dallas, except that its loved in Dallas
@@summersbr1 not so, she was living in dallas in the oakcliff part of town at the time of this song was recorded. Dallas DJ Ushae blew up the local charts with this song!
I heard it when I moved to Texas, Dr Rock was the first one I heard play it,Ushea was one of the best DJays back then,he came out with a crew and a song called neck work
I first heard this on K104 when Ushea "i think thats how he spelled his name" would jam this. Dallas really did rep this!! Great jam! Long live the 80's.
OMG! This is THE Dallas Texas mid-80's slow jam champion!! Long live the Oak Cliff 80's!! ❤ This just put me in the mood to look up bout 5 or 6 middle-school girlfriends!! LOL! 😉 Thanks DasongbirdT!
Y’all I was at work bored and this tune kept coming up in my head I couldn’t ignore it so I kept humming it until I could remember the song I didn’t know the artist or even the name of the song but what I did know is I born and raised in Dallas Tx #Oakcliff and when I would hear this song as a little girl I would stand in front of the big speaker and sing to it I also remember the time every thing was so solid in the 80’s remember westcliff mall and Kiest bazaar and hanging out at Kiest park then I come here and read all the comments just took me back oh what a time to be alive #nostalgic
Wow, I heard this song in 1984 in my step sister's bedroom. We got separated and I always wondered who this was. I remembered the melody, lyrics , bassline and a few words for years. Searched the internet for at least 10 years. You are awesome !
I have been trying to find this song for some time since Rudy V plays it on KSoul I love it and I always love to hear right before I lay down... Dallas is putting this song back on the map where it should be. THANKS FOR POSTING THE SONG!!!
Songs have a way of taking you back to a certain place and time in your life. For me, life was so good back then. All the Briar Gate pool parties, chilling at Glendale and Kiest Park and trying to sneak to Shamrock Skating Ring!!! My fondest memory of this Song was talking on the phone late at night to my crush jamming this song in the background!!!!
For years I thought this song was by Atlantic Star and I wanted to hear it today but Atlantic Star didn't pop up so I clicked on Attitude and what do you know lol. Always loved this song and now I know
This song takes me back to my childhood my Uncles would pull up jamming this song playing… THOSE WHERE THE GOOD OLE DAYS IN FUNKYTOWN WE NEED TO BRING THE 80’s BACK🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is one of my favorite slow jams of all time, takes me back. Im also in DFW and hear it on the radio from time to time and wondered why is it so hard to find on CD.
This is a stunning reminder of how this song was truly embraced by the D/FW metroplex. Yes long live Dwight Smith, aka Ushy Eron (via Gainesville, TX). S-T-A-R-Z, STARZ Baby! Yeah I closed it down a time or two in the early to mid eighties.
Picture it... Yours, Truly... Dallas, TX... Late 1983/early '84. I was 22, and living in The Corners East, at The Village Apartments (8557 Southwestern Blvd, apt #2212... lol). I had just got a job at the Hyatt Regency at Reunion Tower as a busboy... The minute the bar crew and I got off work, we would go straight to the clubs... I had my Ray Parker Jr. Jheri curl, my Musk cologne on, my brown, London Fog jacket... Couldn't tell me SHIT! Lmao! This jam would always close out the night, and I would almost always leave with a lady on my arm. Man, I miss those days! #The80s #Youngerme #Goodmusic #Goodtimes
This song came to my mind a few days ago and I wanted to hear it without goin' through my crates. Thanks DASONGBIRDT! I lived in Dallas in '86 when this song was fresh and new. It received play on 107 in Fort Worth and 104 in Dallas. The good news is the CD is available at Funky Town Grooves. Go get it!

This is definitely a hard song to find. Thank you, dasongbirdt, for posting this. This is a beautiful song, back when artist could truly sing and perform (unlike today). This song gets good air play here in Dallas on 94.5 on Michael Baiseden Show.
@centim6 Dump the Funk! As soon as I read you saying Dr. Rock & K104...I knew that you know. I was there my sister was there & you are so right (God forgive us) we didn't know it then, but we know it now, (as you said) that was the era of great music. I'm not living down there in D- & Cowtown anymore (Seattle, WA now) but glad to see am not the only one who remembers & yearns for those days once more. Thanks God for the memories, I am AOW042970 Peace!
