How much time fits into one second? If we could control processes at the smallest time scales, could you imagine the possibilities?
Researchers of the TOMATTO Project aim to capture the ultrafast electron dynamics in organic molecules with unprecedented time resolution: at the attosecond scale.
*TOMATTO is a ERC-Synergy research project receiving funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 951224). It is not the same team, but they are related. Prof. Krausz, Nobel laureate, collaborated back in the 90's with Prof. Nisoli (TOMATTO research team) to produce the first ultrashort light pulses. Prof. Nisoli has been mentioned at least two times in the extended summary of the Prize, for his contributions to the attoscience: www.nobelprize.org/prizes/physics/2023/summary/
