Justin Deas was both Thomas Christopher Hughes, and Frances Achilles "Buzz" Cooper [shortened from Coop·er·ah·kis* (I can't spell)] Sr. And he has been married to Margaret Colin since along about the time that this episode aired in '83. Theirs is one of the great showbiz marriage success stories.
@@softball3332 Thanks. Inspired me to look it up. Married Jan. 23, 1988. But he has told the story of how they actually met (before ATWT) when he went to buy a suit from the store where she happened to be working at that time. And the sparks were just there from the first. He still lights up talking about her. 😍
@@CieJe.Alexander Where did you see that? Can you send where you found that to me? I would love to see that! I know he still lights up when he talks about her.
@@softball3332 I'm not sure where. I think it was on one of the live soap reunion videos. They've been streaming 2-3 times a week on 'The Locher Room'. Adam Locher has been hosting them from his RU-vid channel throughout most of the quarantine. He does many of the big name soaps. And even the online soap web-series. It's great to hear the actors discuss behind-the-scenes stuff with one another. I'm pretty sure it was on one of the GL ones, but it might have been ATWT. Anyway they're all very entertaining to watch. Hope you enjoy them. Blessings.
Interesting to see Betsy Von Furstenberg as Lisa! She actually did quite a fascinating impression of Eileen's vocal patterns...! Robert Horton just looks... ick. Chris and Nancy Hughes!
I was thinking the same thing. Betsy's voice and phrasing sounded so much like Eileen's. I read somewhere that Eileen didn't care for Robert Horton. I wonder if his being cast as her husband had anything to do with why she left, or if her agreeing to return the following year was in part related to the fact that his character was going to be killed off.
Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Margaret and Justin's Margo and Tom, (Hillary and Gregg were my favorites), I must say, after watching this episode many times over the years, this was certainly an ingenious produced episode. I'm wondering if it was submitted for consideration for the writing or directing categories that year? 😊😊
That always confused me as a kid. I know that they SORASed her son Dan so much that at one point he was played by an actor that was older that Patricia Bruder!
I graduated from high school 2 weeks before this aired! I didn't start watching until 1985, just as Lindsay Frost took over the role of Betsy. I never saw these versions of Tom and Margo or Betsy.
I graduated high school at the same time but I had been watching this soap two years earlier but only in the summer. I remember watching these episodes when they first aired so they have strong sentimental value for me.
What a difference a few years made. Craig became the most desired man on here after doing some horrible things. Ellen changed her tune with him and the rest of Oakdale too.
You know I'm one of few but my favorite Tom & Margo was Gregg Marx & Hillary B. Smith. Hillary slid into Margo like a glover, kept that sense of humor to Margo like MC.
To me this was the best wedding of this era. This was such a great contrast to all those ridiculously overblown weddings complete with gaudy themes and such, such as Cinderealla complete with a carriage ride!
I thought Meg Ryan acted so ditzy as Betsy, she seemed like an airhead. Cute but space cadet. Didn’t like the Dee recast. Jacqueline Schultz was the best Dee Stewart.
Justin Deas overacted as Tom Hughes and Buzz Cooper on Guiding Light. He practically played both parts identically which is not good acting. I did love this Lisa, though. I actually think she knew her lines and dialogue even better than Eileen Fulton did.
