ATWT Killing Eduardo, Day 4 (1995) 

I chuckle every time Lisa calls John "Johnny." It's a simple but effective touch, demonstrating so much character and history with one word. And speaking of effective, Kim's dialogue with Andy is perfect. "I don't have to trash Janice. Janice trashed herself." I never enjoyed Damian the character in later years as much as I did here in this storyline. His returns to the canvas fell short. As flawed as Andy was, as lousy as his judgment was when it came to women, I was always pulling for him.

Andy need a slap in the face! 🤨

Bob and Lisa's amazing youthful chemistry, circa 1960....

Andy(as he often was)was being a HUGE d*** to Kim! She should have reached out and slapped him or at least made it clear to him that he should NEVER disrespect her like that again. She wasn't saying anything wrong. No wonder Courtney left him.

This storyline of Rosanna doing everything she could for Mike financially was ridiculous. It made her look-in a way- like she was lacking in self-esteem. And it's so ironic about her going to Daddy Cabot for money considering she did everything she could before to not have anything to do with him or her money by running away and not wanting anybody to know who she was and working at the farm, lol And going on and on before about honesty, blah, blah, blah, when she was lying to her dad about why she wanted that money. As for Mike, looking back, that character was one of the characters that seemed to drag down the show, him and his brother Mark, who came along later. Wastes of airtime. If it hadn't been for the interesting storyline with Carly(who was a far more interesting character than Mike ever was) coming along and getting pregnant by Mike, the Kasnoff brothers would probably have faded away eventually, as they should have because they were(always)dull as dishwater.

I think this sweeps month was considered a vast improvement over what ATWT had become in the previous year. Marland had been considered less of a great teacher to the writing staff than his work was in itself, so Backus & Law achieved greatness through their own smart plotting.

Just the opposite is true of a large cast on ATWT. If the plots were hard to follow, I might understand the complaints. All the roles were essential in establishing multi-dimensional lives for the characters, especially recurring parts. 15 years later, there would never be people like Alex, Edwina or Dawn. The "dark" (or "gothic," usually spoken of Marland) element is always refereshing for this genre, with inner turmoil replacing the usual danger from a psycho villain.

It's all so wonderfully anchored by Kathryn Hays. I adore her ability to give a deadpan look of concern as Kim takes in another character's shortcomings. The shot of her awaiting a knuckle sandwich from Andy is much like the moment when Doug's madness is all too real in the secret shrine.

Lots of great stuff in this episode. Good use of a full cast. This is why I never agreed with the complaints over ATWT having too large of a cast at this time. I'm glad they resolved the story of what Dawn did to Margo and Tom (I never liked that). What was Mike leaving about? Love how Rosanna thinks she was conning her father, but he cons her. And the Edwina/Evan scenes are perfect! So much of this, like Lisa contemplating suicide and Damian almost raping Lily, is so dark.

Ok. I'm convinced. The powers that be were stupid to let go of DM's protoge's....This storyline was the continuation ATWT"S greatness. Just look at sleek and stealth murderes Orlena...the hints of marital discord with Larry and Susan (and Susan's continued allegiance with lifelong paramour/scheming partner/friend John Dixon). Damian and Lily's tense secret filled marriage. Bob and Lisa's continued friendship... and the AMAZING Kim and Andy dynamic (you're being a jerk), BRAVO.

I couldn't believe how intense the Andy/Kim scenes were. I'd forgotten they drifted apart because of Janice. He was so angry with her, almost violent. Wow. I loved the part where she fluffs his hair when she leaves, just to remind him of his place.

That was a scary scene. Not the best, but still good. I am surprised they went there. It just shows how interesting Andy's relationships with his parents were.
