Au Revoir Simone perform "A Violent Yet Flammable World" in Part 9 of Twin Peaks: The Return From the album "The Bird of Music" available here: goo.gl/5uHHkP
Lynch has always been as much about sound as he is about writing, directing, acting, editing, cinematography ....and everything else he does. It just took about 30 to 40 years for everyone else to catch up to him and he's still years ahead.
Currently has 1.2M views. Probably from 100K or so fans who, like me, return to these scenes over and over. Trying to recapture the magic of The Return.
Months after first seeing this it is without a doubt the most beautiful and haunting performance on the show. I am now a lifelong Au Revoir Simone fan.
The Bird Of Music has a significant space in the soundtrack of my life and since i was a teenager i admired David Lynch work so this match is made in "Lynchian" heaven for me. Hopefully Au Revoir Simone will release new material or a whole new album soon. Thanks for the music :) 🥰
I could honestly watch this whole sequence all day, every day for months to come - its so perfect, so magical, so insanely fucking beautiful that I lose my breath every time I do :-o
A violent yet flammable world Oceans shape the sides Touching down in the spaces Soaking from a warm goodbye An early rise offers kindly Tonight I sleep to dream Of a place that's calling me It is always just a dream Still I cannot forget what I have seen The crowd's hard to believe At their faces I'm looking But your feet I'm following In soft steps on a path the way you lead I don't want to lose myself It's a whisper It's a funny thing We fold like icicles on paper shelves It's a pity to appear this way You're flying when your foreign eyes Trace the heights of the city Steaming With rocks and clouds we breathe Violent skies A shock to my own body Speech is wild Alive sacred and sounding Wild From across and beyond, oh far beyond I don't want to lose myself It's a whisper It's a funny thing We fold…
Yeah, if you read the lyrics to the songs performed at the Roadhouse, SO MANY of them seem to relate to the show. Well, I guess in the case of the song by “ _The_ Nine Inch Nails, ” it was intentional.
When I was watching my tv screen...when Cooper paused the video of the picnic...when Laura's eye...revealed the reflection of the Harley hog...I was hooked. It was a kaleidoscope of layers of worlds upon worlds that was at once extremely complex and extremely simple. I was looking at my tv where Cooper and Truman and Lucy were looking at a videotape on a tv where Laura and Donna were having a picnic being videotaped by SOMEONE who had a Harley reflected in Laura's eye. Who thinks like that? And who puts it on tv?
You’re talking about that augmented G with the D Sharp note? I saw that chord laid out as G Major and tried it and it sounded like shit, so I assumed it was an F Sharp, but it’s definitely a G with a D sharp note. It is an amazing chord for sure. Cheers!
Two penguins were walking across an iceberg. One penguin turned to the second penguin and said, "You look like you're wearing a tuxedo." And the second penguin said, "Maybe I am."
No one - no one knows what's up with Audrey, we're just guessing right now (a coma for 25 years??, plus you don't dream in a coma), the mention of "Billy" might connect Audrey with the young skanks at the bar, no one is sure, no one (or are you Arya).
I absolutely love this track. The melody, the feeling, the beauty and the darkness of it...it's all very perfect for Twin Peaks. You gals are incredible! Thanks for the quick upload!
i can only agree. they are able to create an atmosphere similar to the one Julee Cruise did within the first seasons. therefore: excellent choice of music. thanks Au Revoir Simone and thanks David Lynch for picking them.
