her coping mechanism for her social anxiety is to be weird, strange, and creepy, and it just so happens that everyone loves it and thinks its hilarious, which in turn makes it a successful coping mechanism because it sets the social tension at ease with laughter, and "Oh silly Aubrey" commentary.
That’s what I was thinking. I never had a good coping mechanism and would just go into a panic attack when even I met someone new but I started to just say stupid stuff and it made people laugh. Idk how tho it’s not even funny to me lol
Yeah coping strategy. It works great. These interviewers are creeps, at least she is in control with this tactic. She seems ASD to me. It's obviously given her great success. I applaud her.
All this time I thought it was normal to not know what I'm going to say next, I start sentences without knowing where they will go. I will say it forces me to be honest.
Yeah, She is Honestly saying What Ever comes to Mind, possibly with and 'Eye' towards , "Hey, but 'I' Want to try to be a bit funny too!" Maybe, maybe Not!! If it is all just "Off the Top of her Head" then she has *exactly* the same qualities for 'Real Humor' that were the *Great Gift* given to the likes of: R. Williams (Scary, at times!!) , Richard Pryor or George Carlin. Just to name a couple that we ALL know of? There are Others like That, out there (or Were) who I might have Seen just One time, Never caught there name etc. Wished I Had, Later!!! Plus, there are a pile of 'Oldies' , mostly Gone now, in this 'Instantaneous humor' category. Robin Williams , tho, will Remain 'The' ONE, who Many said of: "It's Like he is 'Channeling' (meaning 'Spirits World' or some such Force ....that is Putting, Immediately, in HIS mouth, that are Usually 'Funny' and 'Bang On' and 'Unbelievable' ....to we who can still 'believe in Magic'???)(A Hard, Hard thing right NOW!!) BRAVO, no matter HOW these people are 'able' to make 'IT' work, every time!? Heck, 'IT' could Easily be 'Cocaine' in many cases like Robin Williams, who Came Thru Sat Nite Live, at a time when ALL of the Original Cast have Admitted that 'That' little 'helper' was Used by EVERY one, or close to? Robin W. , I think finally did whole 'routines' on That subject, Pryor, too, after HE was a human torch Running down 'Santa Monica Blvd' of some such 'famous' address! I DO have some 'slight' experience of such-like that "Screams" the whole possibility of 'That' being the 'helper' which makes the Great ones "Think Very , Very FAST, come up with 'More than they Need' at any time, and a Very Fast Mind to filter out the crap. And, this is Exactly.....what 'certain Methyl type chemicals' DO, Do!! Even the 'tame' one that is given to many 'little kids', routinely for years now (ain't SO Tame), Will Do The Trick if taken in Higher doses or chopped up, first! But, I can't believe That one is anywhere Near the strength of even 'Stepped on Coke' ? (Just 1 (one) experience, Long Ago, with a High Purity 'Columbian' ...uhm....product?) Just a small amount, mailed to himself by a friend, very 'Sneakily', at That Time? So, many years after Robin Williams heyday, Many 'Comedians' (which 'Aubrey' Was, starting out) still are Very Aware of this Possible 'Career Booster' for people who are Already Making their Mark , but always want 'just a little bit More Quickness' for Comedy or less so, for many of the related 'Trades' ?! Many could just Get Nervous on Stage, so pointless. A few, Can get to 'Greatness' with 'help'.
Tintin Tonks there’s no “delivery” when you’re describing being odd. She’s legitimately a tad bit psychotic. I don’t doubt she does something when home alone that would disturb anyone if they caught her doing it.

Conan's definitely the one who feels the most comfortable around her lol. He actually lets her finish her stories and doesn't take her awkwardness all seriusly.
I’m pretty sure she just improvs everything she says in these interviews. I’ve seen her do interviews where the host doesn’t get her vibe and Audrey just feeds into that making it even more awkward. She is amazing.

She already revealed how uncomfortable interviews make her and I think she found in humor a great way to give herself some comfort zone! I really enjoy her work and hope her the best in life :)
It makes sense because her humor is basically "making other people really uncomfortable" so maybe her way to make herself at ease is to make everyone uncomfortable so everyone's on an even field.
If you notice, she drinks out of every cup. Most of the cups on the table aren't hers, they're the talk show host's -- given the direction of the handle on the cup. There's other videos where she starts drinking out of Jay Leno's cup and he says, "You see you're drinking my water, now that could be bad" as she spits it out. Normally if the cup is on the talk show's desk it's theirs and they normally have a shorter table in front of guests with their own cups. It's either a power play or one of her games 😂 I guess it could just be an honest nervous mistake 🤷♂️

@@tarnishedpose well, rates of Asperger's are steadily increasing so we will be expecting to see many more videos like this in the near future. The only people that make and enjoy these videos have got autism in some form. They are on the spectrum. You cannot be well adjusted to life AND enjoy/make this content at the same time.
Aubrey is hilarious, naturally, organically. will watch any production or appearance of her. Yet, she was a terrifying demon in "Legion" the television show inside the thoughts of the protagonist played by Dan Stevens.
She's a compulsive liar that has used it to her advantage and tried to overcome her social anxiety by making it a part of her routine. A true inspiration
She's like the real life version of Julie off Scott Pilgrim. Maybe the reason why she nailed that role was because she relates sooo much with that character.
I’m not going to try to analyze her and just take in how entertaining she is and how memorable of a late night guest she is. These clips never get old no matter how many times you watch them. It’s spectacular.

@@Nikatronixx you know what is funny? It's always somebody like you who protects terms and words for no reason thinking it hurts someone.. While actual people facing those issues hope those words will lose all meaning, so they are happy to see people making those insulting labels meaningless... I don't think crazy people mind word disappearing.. I know hurt people in person and most of them hate that shit you are trying to do for no reason.. They don't get insulted by shit, but healthy people who nobody asked do..
I adore Aubrey Plaza. I get she plays up the weird bit but you can't come up with this stuff without actually being a very unique personality. Love her.
You could watch Ingrid Goes West, which isn't a thriller but if you think about it, Aubrey's Character is quite creepy and does participate in various illegal activity
She has been one of my favorite young comedians in the past 10 yrs. My family has some of the most dry wit stabs at eachother all in good fun with no one getting offended and nothing is off the limits.
