If you were expecting a win over Oklahoma going into to this season you had unrealistic expectations. If folks can't see how well this team played in comparison to Cal and Arkansas they can't be helped. The result is not what people wanted but you have to put your players into a position to succeed. If Freeze had handed the ball off and played defense with an 11 pt lead or even with a 5 pt lead and 4 mins left then Auburn wins and we are all sitting around talking about how the QB threw for 300 plus yds and 3 TDs.

The last couple of years have been depressing for AU Football. I have gotten used to AU finding a way to lose. I did not expect AU to win and that is very frustrating. I was probably as surprised as the most skeptical fan when AU was leading near the end of the game. However, CHF seems to have poor judgement that leads to bad decisions. I fear that the players will see HF as the problem and that he is not going to help their careers. But other coaches and teams will, so they jump on the portal. If AU keeps the current roster, what will the future recruits do? Probably pick a team with a coach that makes better decisions. How soon until AU gets all the invites to other college's homecoming games?

well I agree but PT played a great game besides right at the end, the backer blitzed which is why he read the hot slant but jeremiah wright knocked him down and then he dropped back into coverage. It was like a delayed cover. I’ve never seen it before and PT didn’t see it. Freeze shouldn’t have put him in the position to make a mistake there like he said, but that was a crazy play call by oklahoma

Auburn seems to lack player leadership both Defensively and Offensively IMO. CHF isn’t the problem & Thorne (at least for this loss) wasn’t either - he actually played his ass off and gave AU the best chance at winning. We’ve got to start imposing our will Defensively in order to win BIG games. As a unit we aren’t playing bad but we’re not changing games - OU’s defender did and the got the W

@@autk yeah that is true, but the point is in this case coaching put Thorne in a spot where it was easy for the defense to pick him. That was a great call by the OU defense and a bad call from Auburn’s staff to put him in that situation. Hugh said as much in the post game. Thorne is to blame for the majority of his interceptions this year, but in this case and for a change I think it was him being put in a bad spot more than a panic/bad throw, which god knows he’s had plenty.

@@Rockstar8953 if the pressure off the right side in 5 wide than the hot route is the slant he was trying to throw. It’s called throwing hot, it’s where the term hot route comes from and it’s what OU anticipated. Empty backfield means you can only block 5, OU feigned bringing 6 and dropped the Mike right into the hot route throwing lane. We got out coached on that play.

@@Travisej2 I get he’s a 5th year senior but he’s still a player, not the coach. Freeze is essentially using RPO as an excuse to not call run/pass designated plays. I’ve been critical of Thorne and he’s far from a perfect player, but in critical moments freeze falls apart and it seems like it trickles down to the team.

OU is a mercenary pack of wolves, always has been. For decades they’ve sign-stealed relentlessly so they come into the game v Texas every year with their players yelling every play Texas is about to play, on the field. Maybe that will be fixed somewhat now with the helmet comms, we’ll see. Anyway so they’re a classless team, and what every SEC team needs to know is, they are absolutely ruthless. Their hunger knows no bounds. Of course this can be an advantage in a football game. So if you find yourself in the fourth quarter with a double digit lead against OU again, Auburn: OU is going to scratch and claw as much or more than any other team in CFB to find their way back in, and their main area of success has been turnovers. They came into the game what, +8 in turnover margin? Knowing this about them, any competent team takes zero risks for turnovers in the 4th q with a double digit lead. You run the ball, clutch it tight, and count on your defense to clench shut OU’s dumpster fire offense. Tennessee did EXACTLY THAT to OU just last week, and gave y’all the blueprint. It led to OU’s fans crowing all week about how great their true frosh 190 pound backup qb is and how he almost single-handedly beat TN in the fourth quarter. They gave TN zero credit for their game plan of slowing down their O to avoid turnovers and just relying on their D, which is what happened and which preserved TN’s double digit win. That’s all you’ve got to do. OU’s moronic fans will give themselves all the credit but so what, you’ll actually win the game.

OU faked rushing 6 and then dropped back so 32 was left unblocked and he was getting smoked if he didn’t throw it and since he thought the LB was coming(when he wasn’t) he tried to get rid of it fast and I don’t think ever realized or seen the LB backed up tbh. It was a great scheme from OU

@@vickypotridge6817actually that’s just how the defense is designed to generate turnovers. 6 defenders show blitz at the LoS, all 6 rush the QB, all make contact with the OL, but three push off and backpedal like crazy to get back into throwing lanes. It forces the OL to engage all 6 players and because Auburn was in empty set OU had an edge come completely free. So Thorne throws behind the “blitz” under duress and doesn’t have time to realize a LB has backpedaled 3-4 yards from the line and has cut that throw lane off. I garuantee that same play/look was shown earlier in the game a couple times but all 6 continued rushing the QB. Venables is a good D coach for a reason, he knows how to set up traps all game long like that and it’s why OU is again a top rated turnover team.
