Kerryon Johnson never gets hurt, and this team wins playoffs that year. By the time they got to the SEC Championship, they were too banged up, plus Kerryon being hurt , really hurt them
I always wonder what happens and if Gus would of recruited at a higher level while Kirby was just starting to real in top 3 overall classes at this time this was when Derek brown was elite sophomore
Ya this was back when Gus almost went to Arkansas and made Auburn give him a extension because after beating Georgia and Alabama number 1 back to back after that heartbreaking LSU loss was something we couldn't chance unfortunately
This was the first Iron Bowl I had ever gone too with my Brother (Who is a Auburn Fan while i'm a Bama Fan) I'll say it was misreable watching my brother go on the field and have to take pictures of him. I wish Auburn had finished and won the SECC and could have had a Iron Bowl in the National Championship. Would had been cool.
Nicky '1 second left/I sucked Urban's cock' Saban Alabama doesn't play ranked teams! If they're so good play somebody. Most SEC teams are beat up come November but not Alabama....they only play chumps! Pretty smart good game plan though. Olive Branch extended to the Bammers.....Saban is the best coach ever though!
@Zac yea but they aren’t consistent over the last 10 years tho. although i will give them credit, they beat them 2014-15 and gave them a huge scare in 2020
I never take the Iron Bowl for granted. Crazy things have always happened in this rivalry especially whenever the game is being played at Auburn. Credit Auburn in this game. They outplayed Alabama.
I thought stidham would take the next step after this sort of passing game vs Alabama and Georgia but it was really the play action and running game that opened things up for us to be able to do anything and tricks with Gus he didn't have a great non running qb offense if that makes sense
Being in the stands. Electrifying. Amazing game. Bama was outplayed all game. Hurts showed he was human. But here's a thought. He has 2 losses in his career. One the ntl title game. This one to get to the sec title game. Does he have the intestinal fortitude for the big stage.
Love this. Love it!! Then Gus lost his mind, put his selfish interest on bolstering his income and let his focus slip from the all-important SEC Championship Game the next week? Result? He blew two games in a row. If he’d kept his focus lasered on coaching and preparing a running game to compensate for KJ he could have built a dynasty. Knocked off two #1 teams in a row, Auburn’s biggest rivals, but then absolutely blew a lifetime opportunity. Sad. War Eagle.
That's about exactly what happened. When Malzahn was forced to Coach and really work for his job he was amazing (2010, 2013 & regular season go 2017) however as soon as he got some safety and money he immediately just shut down. Dont know if we'll be better after his firing but at least the program acknowledges something is wrong with the team
@@joshleenall enlighten us then since you seem to know something they don't.. saying they don't know what they're talking about without addressing what they're wrong about makes you look like a clown tbh.
@@treysimmons2589 They're wrong about pretty much everything. If you think Gus just quit caring about winning games then you do not know Gus at all. They act as if the only factor in Auburn winning any of those games is Gus, like it has nothing to do with the other coaches. It's football, no matter how hard you try sometimes, you're still going to lose, period. Gus never quit trying to win games, the man is obsessed with football and winning.
@@joshleenall So his team beats #1 Georgia and then #1 Alabama in 2017 and, rather than preparing for the SEC CG when he had an injured starting RB, he starts negotiating a raise. And loses in the SEC CG and then loses to UCF in the bowl game. But he got himself a huge raise. My data trumps your opinion.
UW Husky fan here - Looking forward to going up against the best D in the SEC. We are not "elite" so playing you guys will be a good barometer of where we are at. Our program has been a bit overrated and it showed up the last 2 years when we played Bama (our O was stuffed) and Penn St (not as close as the score would indicate). I feel like we were a legit 10-15 team but not a 1-8 team. In 2016 we escaped the injury bug, but last year it killed us. Here is hoping both teams are 100% and it is a great game. Woof!!! Go Dawgs!!! (your QB will be in the Heisman hunt this year...deservedly so)
Our D-Line is elite. LBs are slightly above average. We're replacing 3 of 4 in the secondary. Two new Safeties and CB, who is a converted WR. That is where Jake Browning will exploit us.
@@rscotta831 we won the opener and disappointed in 2018 and never got better with stidham and slayton and Ryan Davis and Nate Craig Myers guys like that didn't help stidham get better
Its not the first time...its a Bama privilege.....same thing happened when they played Lsu for the NC...didn't win the division, conference ....but gets a shot at the title ????
If you don't win your division you should NOT be allowed to be in playoffs!! Hands down. Well except Bama of course. They won CFP because they had extra time to rest while other teams were beating themselves up playing their division games. Just wrong !!
Tua The Goat Tagovailoa The Iron Bowl is never meaningless. If it is, can you deny that (even as a national champion) you’d rather lose to any other team than Auburn? I highly doubt that. The national championship may mean more, but the Iron Bowl is never meaningless-even if both teams are winless.
This is what’s wrong with Bama fans.....they’d rather win a “national championship” under a flawed playoff system then beat Auburn. If you live in Alabama, you know that the Iron Bowl is really the only game that matters. War Eagle!
Tua The Goat Tagovailoa I'd rather win a legitimate national title than get stomped by your primary rival and not even win your division. It's especially embarrassing considering Auburn lost 4 games, including to a G5 team and a team they beat handily earlier in the year. The SEC is garbage nowadays. 2011 and 2017 are asterisk national titles.
@@encycl07pedia- . Embarrassing that Alabama is now known as college footballs welfare program , oh and let's not forget that it just came out in Federal court that player's from Alabama has been taking money , saban will tuck his tail and run like the coward he was raised to be.
Here with people complaining that teams that didn’t get play on conference championship weekend shouldn’t make the playoffs. Where was this backlash for 2017 Alabama after this one?
@@rscotta831 people forget we would of been the first 2 loss team to make the playoff had keryon Johnson not gonna hurt imo between that and the Gus extension 2018 makes me angry we didn't do better but booby whitlow isn't the back you place a keryon Johnson with at a place like Auburn they needed tank bigsby then
We lost some big boys in the backfield, and our defensive leader...but make no mistake, our recruiting class this year was one heck of a haul of top RBs this year that all have different strengths...(a lot like our WR class 3 years ago). Point being: a QB like Stidham after 1 year in the system, will make teams pay if they load the box with one-on-one coverage with our seasoned WRs, and that’ll just make our running game (freshmen or not) as dangerous as ever. We’ve recruited like beasts on the D-Line that last few years, so rushing four and giving the rest with the depth we’ve built over the years have will mean less of a precarious learning curve for the new safeties and LBs. Auburn has a tough road schedule, and that’ll mean probably two losses...but if they steal one of those losses, well...we all know where a one loss SEC team usually goes. War Eagle!
WarVanEagle I never pick Auburn to have huge seasons because what we normally do. If the O line is improved next year. This team will be in the playoffs
Jalen lost us this game. We can't pass the damn ball and Auburn said, fuck that we're gonna stack this box and make him beat us with his arm. He couldn't do it, needless to say
He has never won the biggest game of any season he has played except 2017. Tua won it, but Hurts get the credit in the books bec he was the starting QB.
Phillip Hickman cheapest NC in history of college football. Didn’t win their division, didn’t win there Conference, 2nd best team in the state....enjoy your “NC*”
While at AL, Saban met Aub 2 times with the winner owning their destiny to a NC, 2013 and 2017. Saban lost both. In 2017, Au and Wi both had to lose for Saban to get into the playoffs. Both did. Saban is the Greatest Most Overrated Coach in History. Only 1 legit NC, 2015.
Lol this was uploaded on November 26, 2017 by an Auburn fan. You can tell because he or she used the Auburn radio broadcast. The video went up before Auburn knew they'd lose the SEC title game, before they knew they'd lose their bowl game to UCF, and before they knew they'd watch Alabama win another national championship. I'm dying laughing over here.
BACKED their way in AS USUAL. If Kerryon Johnson doesn't get injured in the IRON BOWL DOMINATION, AU goes on to the playoffs while bammer gets left out because the committee wouldn't have wanted to see IRON BOWL DOMINATION Part Two. You know it. I know it. The entire CFB world knows it. 26. 14. SCOREBOARD.
