Maybe if they stop suffocating the city & building on every spare MM of land the cities infrastructure could handle these events ? New Zealand 🇳🇿 needs to grow & and develop, but not all in one city ,we have a beautiful country to share & grow ❤️🇳🇿

yeap the concrete jungle, the only way to stop the floods is to build a huge waste water system as big as the city under the city (that is what Tokyo japan has done...they no have no floods but cost a billion $$ to build) Also stop using the farm land and flood plans to build poor quality new homes on, there is no where the water can go or soak into anymore, its not like Auckland has huge cannels for storm water to go..we are lacking in instructor (where are the pump stations in the low areas aswell) come on Auckland council you get paid enough, time to do some work ae ae

Unfortunately that's what happens when you buy a house next to a creek. They want their houses bought back by the council ? They weren't sold to them by the council. There would have been a lim report available showing the water course .

They did very clearly point out that prior to the flood, a lot of houses that got flooded had LIM reports that failed to mention the property was in a flood zone. Now those LIM reports have been updated and on top of the damage to those properties, the change to the LIM means the property has lost value. Whether or not the councils can or should do something financially to fix that problem aside... There's a legitimate cause for grievance there on the part of those homeowners yeah?

The auckland council is partly to blame for this, lack of improving the waterways contributed to the flooding. Ive seen volenteering groups going around cleaning the rivers and streams, where as the council have gardening labourers monthly potting expensive plants around the west. Looking nice is one thing but all that is just smoke amd mirrors, but nature has exposed that for all to see.

Building more houses didn't come on the hand of updating drainage pipe system... so it was matter of time for this happened... I live on a street where more than 20 new houses has been built in the pass 3 years: no only more car parked on the street because they are tiny and have only 1 carpark, the important thing is no any drainage pipe update has been done on the street... more than 20 houses are more than 40 toilet and showers more+the extreme rain... Stonefield is was the exception, because they built a neighborhood and did the properly... but build houses as mushrooms without update de infrastructure is the perfect recipe for this flooding situation.

Anyone remember the water shortage years a couple of years back. The gent in charge of Watercare said at the time Auckland relies on rainfall to keep the dams full. Hello.. isn’t that what happened. The issue is bigger than just one local government.. Auckland’s population has doubled in the last 35 years. Subdivisions and infill housing have sprung up where the risk of storm water damage was minimized or overlooked. So here we are.. build in a floodplain and you will get flooded sooner or later.

That bus driver performed a perfect water crossing. Perfect bow wave and consistent speed. He clearly has some experience driving through water and should be commended on keeping his passengers and vehicle safe rather than stalling in the middle of what is almost a river.

'ALL the fault of people's sin' has been dealt with at the cross of Jesus! God our Father has dealt with the sin of the world ONCE and for all. Read the New Testament, starting with Acts 2, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. (Jesus was born under the law to fulfil it on the Jewish people's behalf, still OT).
