I have been so discouraged lately not knowing how to edit my podcasts. I don’t hit the thumbs up on videos often, but this one deserved it. I’m ready to get back into it. Thank you sir
Thanks. This was just what I needed. Basic tools to get started and a foundational workflow! I also appreciated the brevity but without compromising the depth of information.
I run a podcast with 6 tracks and I'll tell you the project files get huge when you make lots of edits. A 5-hour session became 32 GIGS and has a lag of 15 seconds after an edit.
Hey Mike, I’m city over here now when you were doing this episode, and I’m like talking along to everything that you are doing on there, because I know what to do, and a lot of people would think that who is it talking to because I have my headphones on, and I’m listening to you, and I enjoy every podcast or any episode it to bring out, quite cool.
When I play my audio in Audacity, it hasn't been playing through the whole track. It'll start at the beginning, play for a few seconds, and then just stop at an obscure point and go back to the beginning again. I've played with settings, shut down the program, tried basically anything I can think of and I still can't get it to stop, which makes it really annoying when I want to see how the whole audio sounds together. Please, if you guys have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it!
It sounds like there may be a playback issue with your audio in Audacity, try checking the audio device settings and ensuring that no plugins or effects are causing interruptions in the playback loop to resolve this playback problem.
Is there any way to mute the other person's voice if you're recording two tracks in the same mixer, if you're in the same room? Both sound tracks are in the same "section", which doesn't allow me to seperately make adjustments to the individual voices.
Unfortunately, Audacity doesn't offer a real-time solution to mute individual voices during a live recording when they're mixed together in the same track.
Is my computer speakers broken or is the sound in this video broken? That would almost be too ironic. But have the volume high, anyone else has a problem or is my computer?
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing sound issues, but it's likely an issue with your computer or speakers as the sound in this video is working fine for others.
If you have two people you can use the same Audacity tutorial to achieve a great podcast sound. Record each person separately and then mix them together using Audacity. Easy!
I record on a podtrak p8 on to a sd card. when I upload the audio file, its one track (with both me and my guess talking} Am I doing something wrong? I wanted to edit out my coughs. I had a guest on and we recorded about an hour. Please help me lol
The Podtrack P8 can record multitrack to SD card but only stereo mix via a PC. Make sure your settings are correct for future recordings but if all you have from this recording is the stereo mix you won't be able to edit speakers independently
Hello Mike, I love your videos, but have a comment and a question… the new Audacity has an option where you can drag the audio track by clicking on the name…it does not seem you are using the newer version… it would be good for newcomers… also I tend to alter the volume of individual tracks by sliding the volume in the track (left side) instead of amplifier option… is that different? What would be the difference? Again thanks for the videos!
Hello! I have one but very important question! We did a podcast, but than we noticed a strange noise, which seems like squeak… And we can’t rid of it😩 Is it possible to remove it? Please, HELP!
You're welcome! I'm thrilled to hear that you found my tutorial helpful and I'm glad to know it will be a valuable resource for your podcasting journey.
This video didn't help me. Everything here is paid. If there are a lot of emo videos on RU-vid, why should I pay you this amount? You should be usable for your audience.
Thank you so much for this. It's such a great tutorial can you please do an update on the new updated audacity software for any latest uploads if there is any major interface changes. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for watching! Audacity has gone through some updates over the years, but the key principles for editing your podcast and making it sound great remain the same!
Hey mike! i have a question. Should i record on 44000 or 48000? i have could not find any useful video about it. By the way, i will use it for a podcast. you always go for 44000. is it the best?
For podcasting 44100 Hz is usually sufficient and offers smaller file sizes which can be beneficial. Recording at 48000 Hz may provide slightly better audio quality but will require more storage space and might not give noticeable differences for most listeners especially in a podcast scenario.
There are many videos available on the channel on making your voice sound better. If you want to take your recordings to the next level I’d suggest a microphone upgrade would be the best idea.
hi everyone, i have a problem maybe someone know how to fix it. I would like to record with headphones my voice and the voice of the person i'm doing the podcast with. We usually make a call with discord but I can' record our 2 voices together, it is One or the other that work on audacity. I'm desperate
Hey, this video is an awesome intro to using audacity that gets one started right away. I've checked out some of you other videos, all great stuff, full of information and a great pace. You have a new subscriber! One question, I'm using the latest version of Audacity and I can't figure out how to drag the timelines to line them up the way you do. Every time I try to click on a track to drag it left or right, it just selects the track, or sets a cursor. Thank you:)
Hey, thank you so much for subscribing and for the kind words! Regarding your question about dragging timelines in Audacity... make sure you're using the "Time Shift Tool." You can find it in the toolbar or press "F5" to activate it. Once this tool is selected you should be able to click and drag your tracks left or right to line them up.
Hmmm, the F5 key has now effect on the current tool I have selected. I found some menu commands under the tracks-align tracks drop down that allow me to snap the tracks to a preset cursor. My version of Audacity doesn't seem to have a time shift tool. Oh well, I'll crack on without it. Thank you for the reply:) @@MikeRussell
