Hello Sir, I just downloaded Audacity for a radio program I am about to host in my country. This video is going to help me a whole lot. thank you very much
even after watching several other beginner tutorials, i still learned something new here. thank you. one question : what is the purpose of downloading FFmpeg library? i have the mp3 library version, but not the latter. i intend to use the software for voice over work.
Voice over based work may not need FFmpeg library to be installed. But main advantage of having this library is you can directly open many video format files to edit its audio or convert to mp3 or wav etc.
Hmm strange, when I import a file I do not get the menu like you do that allows you to make a copy of the audio file. This is not a major problem. But it there a way to enable/re-enable the menu?
Your tutorial is most helpful. I am having a problem with the library portion. In my attempt to set up both libraries I've downloaded and located the LAME MP3 file, however, when I downloaded and attempted to locate the FFmpeg, it still says "library not found". I browsed, went to file and opened, however it still reads, library not found, any suggestions? BTW, my purpose for using audacity is for editing voice over auditions and commercials (TV and radio) Is this even necessary for what I need?
No you don't. But it is good to have required libraries or plug-ins. I advise you to download and install latest version of the program and libraries from the link www.audacityteam.org/download/
when I export a an audio all of a sudden the edit metadata window is too big ...I cant hit OK down the bottom of the window ....I can enlarge and reduce the screen horizontally...but not vertically.....I tried reloading the program but i still have the large window how do i reduce it
LukeMotions: thanks to your comment, he responds. Raghvendra Bhattacharya : Yea, I actually searched the web before, and after, leaving the comment, but to no prevail. Thanks anyway. Good video though.
Thanks for making this video. My computer repairman installed this for me during a service call, and I haven't tried it yet. I have a question, if I can accomplish making a multi-track recording and mixing it down to stereo, can I then record video using the built-in camera on my VAIO laptop, and add a live stereo feed to my mix as the video is shot? I want to create a mixdown of backing tracks in stereo, and then record live stereo as I video the artist, so that it will result in seeing and hearing the artist, plus hearing the backing tracks, as the video is played. Can this be done? I have Windows 7 Home Premium, and my laptop has 4GB RAM, 450GB hard drive, and 2 20GHz dual core processors. I can interface an analog mixing console to the stereo mic input on the laptop. I don't have any other camera , of any kind, so I'll need to record the video on the laptop.
randolph patterson sorry for late reply..all audio recording and mixing different tracks is possible in Audacity but to records live video and syncing audio with it you will need a video editor like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. Windows Movie Maker (Free) also may used to achieve this
Hi Sir, @7.00 mins u r clicking on Audacity the devices etc.. I guess u got the option because u r using Mac. I am using Windows 10 however i don't have that audacity option before files. Can you please guide??
I have new PC and have loaded Audacity 2.0.5 but the meters will show no signal from an instruments. This is my second install with Audacity. I have checked the PC volume and it is good. Could suggest something else?
If you tell me which instrument you are trying to connect and how. Which OS(Windows, Mac or Linux) you are on.Which soundcard/interface you are using? detail may help to comment something. My broad suggestion would be please check your Input/Mic Connection are really working in Hardware and OS(windows or Mac). then configure inputs in Audacity.
Also if above working fine and you selected you correct input channel then right click input(mic Icon on Audacity)and select 'Start Monitoring'. See if it works.
Select the second option ("Editar") form the Menu bar. Select the last option "Preferencias". Now Select the fifth option "Interfaz" Select Idioma (Idioma means language) Select English, Click on Aceptar. Following these steps you can change the Language from Espanol to English.
warning!!! I downloaded audacity on august 6 and I also got the 'wander burst ads' malware virus for free, and I couldn't get it of with adwcleaner or avast, I had to REINSTALL my comp completely !
please can I create a new beat with Audacity? just like making a new beat from scratch. I make beats with Dr Drum from the scratch. i want to create beats from the scratch.
Dear sir i am facing issues to download AUDACITY ON MY PC my operating system is windows. the link you have given in the video is not giving me the option of download. please do guide me if you can.
Hi, thanks for great tutorial. The issue I am having is the library. My Lame went directly to my program folder. Can Audacity not find it there? I am currently using Zamzar to convert the wav to MP3. I do not know how to do it through Lame. I would appreciate help on this please. (Windows 8 on laptop)
Dear Diane, Easy way would be to click download in libraries and install it in its default location. which is normally C:\Program Files\Lame For Audacity\lame_enc.dll.(for 64bit Windows OS)
I enjoyed this tutorial and found it very easy to follow. His teaching method is very methodical and logical. Thanks. I'm about to download it now and then I will watch part 2. I'll post more as my learning journey continues.
Hi. When I open a file in Audacity, it does not give me the option "Choose an import method". It simply imports the file. How can I get the import option? I work in windows. Thank you!
I need urgent help,, i need to remove a voice of one person from a video,, the problem is that on audacity you have to select separately the voice you need to remove. In my case, these voices are merged together. So how exactly should i remove that voice such that the other voices are still there,,
Yes you can..Audacity does not limit you. But you will need specific Hardware to support your PC. like USB mics are popular these days and with External USB interface you can use conventional XLR mics too.
buddy your not geting the good the thanks you desrve can i contact you in skype i didnt setup the prog yet but i would love to get to know you and contact you for such in case ^_^
Dear Brian, in Edit>Preferences>Recording see if Overdub and Software Playthrough is checked. Use a headphone while recording to avoid feedback sounds.
Vahe Marakian I am afraid you can't undo if you have overwritten a file with changes and closed Audacity. always create a copy before you experiment with some important audio.
Warren Jones After editing you need to 'Export' or 'Export Selection' as file mp3 or wav or whatever file format you want to use in iTune and then save the file in a folder which is seen by iTune
Raghvendra Bhattacharya , I'm just not cut out for this. I finally managed to move a file from Audacity to iTunes, but it took me several hours of continuous effort to do it. It used to be a breeze with Wiretap, but Audacity is another story. Not only that, the recorded quality is not very good. I'm quitting for today, but I'll be back to figure out how to improve Audacity's sound quality. Wiretap, why did you have to leave me? I miss you.I can't do without you.
Raghvendra Bhattacharya , I've made progress with this very compiicated and user unfriendly program, but I have more to learn. One thing that bothers me is the subject of plug-ins. In my attempts to get started with Audacity, I kept seeing references to plug-ins I had to download for Audacity to work properly. The problem was, there were just too damned many, and I couldn't figure out which one (ones?) I should download. Are plug-ins a real concern for Audacity, or did I perhaps misunderstand what was being told to me?
Dear Warren Jones there are Library and plug-in which will expand Audacity's usefulness but they are not essential to use the program. Two libraries are LAME( to save files in mp3 format LAME v3.99.3 )and FFMPEG (if you need to edit audio in video files)..see my video part-2 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CQJyI-Jj8Ts.html for details. We can also optionally use effect plug-ins in Audacity for different purposes such as equalizer, reverb, amplify, leveler etc. There are many built-in plugs installed by default in Audacity. But you can also install and use some extra LADSPA or VST plug-ins for your specific needs. My next tutorial will address this more in detail.
Raghvendra Bhattacharya , Okay, thanks. I'll now review this video and go on to your second one. For now, your words, "they are not essential to use the program". come as a great relief. I now have a file, which I think contains plug-ins for Audacity, on my desktop. It's the first file like it I've ever seen. It's too long to fit on the screen and must be scrolled from left to right to view it in its entirety. It has to be at least three or four times the length of what can be seen on the screen at one time. A real mystery to me. Anyway, thanks for your help. Incidentally, I'm trying to use Audacity to replace WireTap because of the universal praise I've heard about it for years. I know it's a great product, so I'm going to do my amateurish best to cope with it, although its mastery is far beyond me.
