We review the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon and show you why this $150,000 Dark Knight is a beast of a watch!
The reason I call this the Dark Knight is because its fighter-jet type design reminds me of the Dark Knight tumbler from the Batman movie. It's sick!
This AP Flying Tourbillon GMT 26589IO.OO.D002CA.01 has a depth rating of 100m (like who would take this underwater!) and a whopping 10-hour power reserve.
The watch has a diameter of 44 millimeters, but a lug-to-lug measurement of 57 mm. That sounds huge, but the contour of the watch actually hugs your wrist and make the fit a lot more natural, so it doesn't feel like you're wearing such a large luxury watch. When you compare it to another relatively large model from the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore brand, like the gold brick that I feature on the video, this contoured design becomes instantly obvious - a striking difference from the brick's lug/bracelet design, which leaves slight gaps between your wrist and the bracelet.
Some watch collectors might think that a watch with the above dimensions must feel heavy on the wrist, but thanks to the engineering behind this piece, it actually feels pretty light. It was made with sandblasted titanium and a ceramic bezel, which makes it extremely lightweight and very comfortable to wear.
The Royal Oak Concept has a GMT feature to allow you to keep track of time in two time zones. During the video I actually show you up close how to activate and set the GMT function.
The reality is that if you gave me $150,000 and I had to choose between the AP Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon GMT and the similarly priced RM 11 GMT, I'd go with the concept tourbillon...no questions asked!
